I was able to get a last-minute reservation when they just opened at 5 pm. The place gets busy by 5:30 even on weekdays. The banchan are good, with unlimited refills, except for pajeon. Jokal muchim (cold pork feet salad) - it is spicy and lacks sliced pork feet, but has lots of cabbage. Golbaengi somyeon (spicy snail salad with wheat noodle) - it is spicy but refreshing on a hot day but I do wish they have more noodles to help with the spice. Galbi tang (beef short rib with glass noodles) - comfort broth with tender short rib and daikon

Despite the fierce competition for Korean food in the area, Olle is one of the better/best restaurants for a nice, authentic Korean meal. Staff is incredibly pleasant and helpful, so I'd give them 5 stars just for the service. Everything is high quality here, as evidenced by their boricha (barley tea) and banchan (complimentary side dishes). They're known for their Naengmyeon (cold noodles), which are quite refreshing on a hot day and pair well with most of their other spices entrees. However, I'd highly recommend the Galbi kimchi and Galbi jjim (beef stew), the latter of which serves two. The meat is so tasty and flavorful, with a blend of sweet, savory, and spicy. Only two things I'd critique is the price (you're paying for the quality so I'd say it's still worth it), and that our Galbi jjim unexpectedly exploded, causing hot oil to pop off and burn my friend's face. Staff was apologetic and helpful, but it was quite a painful scare. Otherwise, I'd highly recommend Olle if you're looking for a high-quality meal.

Overall: 5 stars Love the flavor profile of the Korean food here that has a nice balance between different tastes. I appreciated their accommodating nature as well when I was late by an hour due to some gnarly mechanical issues from public transit. (Kimchi Galbi: A) - Delicious broth that looks incredibly spicy but is actually incredibly flavorful with a tomato forward premise. The meat is tender and I loved how they served it with a quarter head of cabbage. (Galbi Tang: B) - Comforting, warm clear broth with extremely tender short rib and daikon. The contents were a bit minimal though and I wished I found more aside from scallions inside. (Banchan: A+) - Love the side dishes from the seafood pancake to the japchae to the seasoned greens that covers all the food groups. This makes up for the minimal nature of the Galbi Tang. Came here with a friend after work. This is one of his go to Korean spots. The place has a rustic modern vibe and has tables upstairs. They serve really tasty banchan (complimentary side dishes). The table also gets a complimentary barley tea/drink in a glass bottle. Started off with honguh jjim which is a fish appetizer dish, and it was good and didn't have a fishy smell. For my main, I got the sullingtang (bone marrow soup) which comes with noodles on the side. This was solid dish and really enjoyed the soup base. If you're in the mood for sullongtang and in the Ktown area in NYC, I would recommend Olle.

Galbi jjim, spicy cold noodles, banchans

Came here on a saturday evening at 5:30 PM with a reservation, and were seated immediately. The interior was very modern, and the waiters were quick to take our orders and refill our banchans and barley teas. The banchans were some of the better ones I've had in comparison to other korean restaurants in the city, with items such as tteokbokki and seafood pancake. I tried the spicy cold noodles and the galbi jjim, which were both delicious. I loved how the galbi jjim was served over a flame, and how tender and juicy the meat was. I also loved how chewy the cold noodles were.

Stopped by Olle for a spontaneous lunch after getting off a 5-hour bus ride and was seated right away. The space leans dark and modern, much more upscale than a typical "mom-and-pop" shop. They brought out banchan (kimchi, spinach, pajeon, and soy-marinated egg) soon after I ordered, and all four were excellent. The kimchi was fresh and crisp with a light sweetness and spice. The pajeon is clearly a fan favorite and easy to see why. GAMJA TANG - 20.95 +9.99 for soondae (6 pieces) The gamja tang portion was massive, which was honestly overwhelming after I wolfed down the banchan. It came loaded with pork bone meat (more bone and fat than meat) and potatoes in a thick, spicy broth. The broth itself was quite thick since there's also some potatoes. The broth was flavorful but quite salty, and hard to access under the pile of bones. I also didn't feel like enjoying it with rice since I was too full. The soondae was underwhelming; it was dry and falling apart, not worth the add-on. I definitely over ordered and couldn't finish. The gamja tang wasn't my favorite, so I'll try something lighter next time (maybe the galbi tang). That said, the banchan alone makes Olle worth visiting -- definitely dine in for the full experience. If you are looking for a hole-in-the-wall vibe, though, this isn't it.

Dinner for 4 at Olle was FANTASTIC!! The Galbi Jjim is NOT TO BE MISSED! So delicious. We ordered the fried rice add on but forgot to leave some Galbi to be mixed in lol. We also ordered the braised Bork bone stew, cold noodles and the pork belly. Everything was so good. We also ordered the chestnut makgeolli and the guys were a bit suspicious but everyone ended up having multiple rounds. The staff was also very generous with the bonchon which is always a positive with me! Everything is also decently priced too! Highly recommend, can't wait to come back!

Have been meaning to come to Olle for a while and had a lovely dinner! My cousin and I made a reservation for Friday night, and luckily we were seated right away. They have two floors from what I remember, and it was nearly a full house! I loved the dimly-lit, low-contrast ambiance and the wooden designs, making for an intimate and cozy space with good service. The banchan (side dishes) were also amazing, all very flavorful and complemented our entrees well. We ordered the golbaengi somyeon and mini galbi + mool naengmyun duo, although maybe next time I'd order one more thing for 2 people: Golbaengi somyeon (4/5): I was craving golbaengi (sea snail? whelk?) because I feel like it's not a very common ingredient and so was super excited to get it! It had a lovely chewiness to it like a meaty shellfish that worked well with the spicy marinade and balanced with the clean, refreshing somyeon, which are just thin flour-based noodles (almost flavorless imo, but in a good way). I think it could have been more proportionate with the amount of golbaengi and noodles because there was more of the spicy marinated vegetables - personally would've liked more noodles to help with the spice. Mini galbi + mool naengmyun (4.5/5): Loved this classic combo; the galbi was caramelized aromatically and the mool naengmyun (cold noodles) was especially so yummy, so palatable and cut through the richness of the beef with the icy and slightly acidic broth.

I have never been so disappointed in a NYC restaurant before. We ordered the galbi jjim and the bokkeumbab. I wanted to go to a different restaurant but we were pressed for time since we had to leave for the airport. Maybe I don't know a lot of the prices for Korean restaurants in Manhattan, but the pricing for this restaurant was pretty ridiculous. When the galbi jjim came out, my meat was COLD. There were some pieces that were lukewarm and others that were not warm. On top of that, the server was a little rude and I understand he was trying to help us with the fried rice. The server kind of gave us attitude and treated like I didn't know what dol sot was (even though I'm Korean). Also, all of this was almost $100 and the portions were not big considering other restaurants I've been to that had galbi jjim.

Olle had been on my/my husband's radar for a while and we were able to snag a last minute Saturday night resy, which was so exciting!! We ended up sharing a small order of the Galbi with the fried rice add-on, along with the cold spicy noodles. Then, of course, got to enjoy some of the banchan! Banchan - all were deliciously prepared, it was a bit busy when we went so we weren't able to request more but all the pairings were soooo yummy. Cold spicy noodles - delightful amount of spice, they also offered to cut it for us which made sharing easier Galbi - meat was cooked perfectly. Flavors all melded really well. Then they turned it into fried rice?!?! Incredible. It was so hard to be patient and let the flavors meld into the rice before digging in, but it was so worth it. We also shared some makgeoli, which was delicious and paired well with everything we ate. Would recommend!

Came here on a cold January afternoon for some even colder Korean noodles. The line was pretty short and it only took 15 minutes from our walk-in to get a table. Great service and atmosphere, with lots of seating and friendly staff. I ordered the mini galbi + mool naengmyeon. My friend ordered the bibim naengmyeon, which actually had a pretty different broth and only the faintest hints of spiciness. I was very happy with my dish- the noodles and soup were ice cold, while the galbi was nice and warm, creating a great balance as I alternated between the two dishes. The broth was light and refreshing, with that perfect blend of sweet and sour, and I ended up drinking all of it. The galbi was tender and flavorful, and the flame beneath it kept burning for most of our meal, keeping it hot. Given the weather outside, I left glad that I ordered something warm.

Olle and Moono are competing to be my favorite to go casual dinner spot. Both places are very similar, but I'd give Moono the edge because of the desserts. The Shiregi Galbi was decent. I think the overall flavours could've been a bit more potent. I didn't really feel the galibi's presence and I think the brother could've used a hint of salt, but I still liked it overall because it reminds me of the Chinese Sauerkraut soup; they have pungent flavours, can bathe a main of your choice, and serve very well with rice. The main difference is that Chinese Sauerkraut is more on the sour side, while the Shiregi is more on the fermented side. The Sooyok was quite bland actually. The condiments were not nearly as strong as it should be, making the plate taste weak. Also definitely not worth for its price point. The Hooshik Naengmyon was a palette cleanser and could be a substitute for rice. I didn't get a chance to try the spicy one because some folks at the table wanted mild. Definitely a skippable plate. The last two mains left a really strong impression for the restauraunt: the Galbi jjim + Bokkeumbab and Hongguh jjim. The Galbi jjim was surprisingly very sweet, even though it looked plain. The Bokkeumbab is a nice addition to utilize the rest of the sauce, but I don't think the sweetness completely translated to the rice. The skate (Hongguh jjim) is a must eat! Like the Galbi jjim, the skate is sweet and tender, which again surprised me because the plated looked like a soy sauce steamed fish with paprika. It seems to be a restaurant favorite and I completly agree with that statement. Despite expressing great interest in only two plates, I came here for a family dinner and the vibes were great. We had a large party with multiple kids and everyone enjoyed their meal. Hopefully we won't be tired of Korean food in the future because we are definitely coming back. Still would really like a dessert menu though.

Came here tonight and what a wonderful meal! At this point, there are many Korean restaurants in the city... which makes us all lucky. What sets Olle apart is the care I can tell they put in the food. It helped I had someone who knows what to order but I can also tell from the other tables, that everything here is probably good .

The effortless tranquility encourages you to slow down, enjoy the food, and get away from the everyday, hubbub. Their menu leans into fusion dishes with a nod to some of the classic home-style classics. Everything is presented with a refined, elevated touch. Here's what we ordered: ~ Tako Wasabi - 5/5 stars A fiery delight. This appetizer feartures chopped raw octopus marinated in wasabi. It has a lively zest from the wasabi and is topped with tobiko, which adds a pleasant contrast in texture. ~ Honey Makgeolli - 4/5 stars A traditional fermented Korean beverage that is light and pairs brilliantly with your meal. It is a cloudy alcholoic drink served in a metal teapot, and surprisingly, there is much more in that teapot than you would expect. It easily provides six to eight generous pours. The flavor is subtly sweet with a pleasant tang. ~ Temaki Set - 4/5 stars You can order a set of three by choosing from selections 1-17, or you can order a la carte at the listed prices. Some of the temaki stood out more than others. Our two sets included marinated salmon, bluefin tuna, spicy yellowtail, spicy bluefin, and two dynamite temaki. ~ Spicky Pork Ssam Set - 5/5 stars Truly another standout entree that even surpassed my beloved grilled BBQ bossam. You received a generous basket of assorte greens, including romaine, kale, perilla leaves, dandelion leaves, nappa cabbage, and more. It is well worth the price and makes for a fun, interactive dining experience with your family and friends. There is also various banchan offered and this time, they were beyond kind enough to offer refills. The last time we were here, we ordered just as much food and they stated they normally did not offer refills, which I thought was very odd. These banchan ended up pairing really well with everything we ordered, and we had to keep on asking for refills. I almost never order kimchi fried rice at a restaurant because it's something that I can make at home. However, I was glad I got to try it here. The bacon added so much smoky flavor and I was impressed at how chewy the rice kernels were. The perilla oil noodles were very refreshing. They came with a savory but light sauce. I really loved the combination of shallots, jalapenos, and seaweed that added so much texture and freshness to the dish. Finally, the galbi! Yum! The beef was so tender and the sauce almost reminded me of those microwave salisbury steak meals, but in the best way possible. The salad on the side was so good with the beef (+sweet potato salad = heaven). The chopped roasted peanuts added almost a Southeast Asian vibe to the dish. If I had to find something to complain about, I would say that the peppers on top weren't spicy enough.

One of my guilty pleasures / comfort places to visit is BCD Tofu House. I have been coming here…read moresince I was a student and it doesn't disappoint. The food tastes good, the lunch prices are reasonable and honestly they have better ban chan than a lot of other places. (And where else are you going to get a full fish as a complimentary ban chan?) When you go you just have to get one of the soon tofu. It is their iconic dishes We ordered: LA Galbi Seafood soon tofu Tripe soon tofu Honestly, you can't go wrong with any of the soon tofu.

The servers kept things moving but with very minimal interference and no extra visits; we would have liked a little more attention when we finished some of the banchan and kind of expected they would be replenished, but we certainly were fine without it. And the entrees were delicious and even with other tables almost on top of each other it never felt crowded due to partitions that I saw them remove for some larger groups needing tables "together", and I never felt part of someone else's dinner convo. Presentation was amazing and food was delicious - Soon Tofu Soup with seafood for me, which arrived bubbling like a cauldron. It came with a raw egg that you crack into the soup and let it cook to your level of doneness. Hubs got hot stone bibimbap and as we all know the crispy rice is the best part of it... it's just tough to separate it from the actual stone dish so you can eat it, especially if you wait until it cools and fuses. If I was there with more stomach space I wanted to try the galbi, and in fact there's a weekday lunch combo that could facilitate that.

They advertised themselves as having the best katsu in NYC and they may just be right. With our order it came with a bunch of side dishes. Kimchi, Marconi salad, and mashed potatoes, and others. They were all good. Food came out pretty quick as well. Don't think we waited too long for anything. After we were done they gave us some ice cream. I would absolutely love to come back here again for lunch and probably will.

The Ssambap Set was incredibly satisfying. The beef was tender, flavorful, and paired perfectly with the fresh lettuce wraps, rice, banchan, and soup. Every bite was well-balanced and packed with flavor. We also ordered the Mixed Katsu Set, which was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and cooked to perfection. It came with generous portions and made for a comforting, filling meal. The restaurant has a modern and welcoming atmosphere, the staff was friendly and attentive, and everything arrived fresh and beautifully presented. If you're looking for a delicious Korean lunch in NYC's Koreatown, Jeong Yuk Jeom is definitely worth a visit. I'll be coming back to try more of their menu!

Short Review- Outstanding Restaurant Week Menu. Get the Hoe Muchim, Yukhoe, Gangjeong, Galbi-Jjim,…read moreand if you want to be very full, the Pyongyang Cold Noodle. I went back to this Korean spot with a group for their $60 Summer Restaurant Week menu, which I'll abbreviate as RW from now on. I was not expecting the biggest portions as the menu is a bit pricey, but I was surprised in a good way. Compared to the regular menu, this is a fantastic deal, being both high quality and with large portions. You can see the previous review regarding the nice space, which is from a converted library. The only distinction this time was that they were much more crowded. The server was friendly, though he did rather haphazardly drop off all of the appetizers instead of giving them to the specific people who ordered them, leading to a bit of confusion. To drink, I shared a bottle of 24% Soju Dokdo, which another person had ordered at the bar prior to me arriving during happy hour. As per the other time before we got the other courses, they gave us some kimchi as well as a cold soup as an amuse bouche. The soup consisted of cucumber, tomato agar jelly, basil oil, and Korean pear. The soup is refreshing, cold, slightly herbal, and a little bit sweet, and worked perfectly to whet our appetite. The RW menu that followed consisted first of one choice each from three different options: vegetable, sea, and meat. Afterwards, there was a choice of main and a side dish, and then dessert. From the appetizers, my vegetable choice was the Lotus Root Gangjeong/연근강정, a pair of fried lotus root slices with a mild sweetness, presumably from rice syrup/물엿. The lotus root had a light fry, with a mild crunch, but it was the most basic of the dishes. Other people enjoyed the Asparagus Japchae/아스파라거스잡재 and the Acorn Jelly/도토리묵. I tried the latter, and it was refreshing and tasty with an interesting mix of textures. Compared to the other appetizers, this was also the only course without a supplement, which makes sense since it was vegetables. From the sea section, I ordered a dish I got last time, the Hoe Muchim/회무침, listed on the menu as seasonal fish, gochujang, and soybean powder, which all came with kim/seaweed for DIY handrolls. The dish is normally $24, and of course, the portion was slightly smaller, but it was still sizable. As this was the case with the other dishes, I won't mention that again. The fish in this case was raw salmon, which was buttery, and paired with the crunchy vegetables, the sweet/spicy/mildly fermented gochujang, and the nutty soybean powder. Another person enjoyed the Shrimp Pancakes/새우전, saying that there was plenty of shrimp inside, and no one ordered the $5 extra Abalone Salad/전복냉채. Finally, for meat, I went with the Yukhoe/육회, the Korean version of beef tartare with Korean pear and egg yolk, which is normally $28. The meat was tender with a mild fragrance from sesame oil and a bit of sweetness from the paired, well, pear. No one got the Spicy Fried Chicken/닭튀김, while someone else splurged and loved the $5 extra Beef Cheek Suyuk/소뽈살수육. For my main dish, as with a few others as per my recommendation, I went with the $10 extra Galbi-Jjim/갈비찜. Normally $52, this had soy-braised prime beef, Pyogo mushrooms, some potatoes, and some tteok. The short ribs were very tender, with some fat that was flavorful without being too chewy. The broth wasn't as sweet as some other places, with a delightful little bit of spiciness. This was outstanding, just like last time. Others enjoyed the Bossam/보쌈 and the Squid Stir Fry /오징어볶음, with no one getting the Tofu Mushroom Hot Pot/두부버섯전골. As a side, my choice was the Mushroom Sotbap/버섯솥밥, which is $10 extra, but shared between two people. Normally for $38, this had golden queen rice, mushrooms, foie gras, and a beef broth, and just like during normal service, they present the full pot before dividing it up. The rice had a strong umami with a bit of crunch from the scorched part, and was delicious like last time. Another person liked the Seasonal Vegetable Bibimbap/산채비빔밥, and one other had the portion of Pyongyang Cold Noodle/평양냉면, with the broth poured at the table. The portion was noticeably gigantic compared to every other dish, and the bit of broth I tried was delicious. For dessert, there were two choices. I got the Korean Melon/참외 with coconut and manchego cheese. The dish was well composed, with a granita/ice made from melon, some coconut sorbet on the bottom, and a very mild cheesy flavor. It was refreshing. A few had the Burdock/우엉 with burdock ice cream, chocolate mousse, and burdock chips. They found it mildly bitter with a bit of nuttiness, and one person liked it, and the other did not. I tried a bit, and I thought it was decent, but I preferred my dessert. This was again a very good meal. I wish I had better photos, but we all loved our time here.

The service was attentive throughout the meal. They offer a tasting menu, but we opted for a la carte so we could try a wider variety of dishes. The complimentary cold broth served to cleanse our palates was a thoughtful touch. The fried chicken wing was cooked perfectly with an incredibly crispy exterior. The uni sotbap was delicious, packed with rich umami flavors in every bite. The bossam was solid, tender pork belly served with fresh lettuce wraps. The cold noodles were refreshing, and I especially enjoyed the light, flavorful chicken broth. The galbi was tender, juicy, and well-seasoned. Overall, every dish was delicious, and I'd definitely come back if I'm ever in town.
