We came to Olleh Convoy Korean BBQ around 7 PM on a Sunday evening to celebrate my husband's birthday, and the experience was fantastic from start to finish. Surprisingly for a weekend night, we added our name to the list and were seated in less than 10 minutes. That was already a great start and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the atmosphere was super chill with good vibe with music playing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our waiter was incredibly kind and took the time to walk us through the menu since it was our first visit here, even though we've dined at several other Korean BBQ spots before. There are two menu options to choose from. The Prime special included a few items that aren't typically my preference, so we went with the Premium option--and honestly, it was more than enough for the four of us. Like most Korean BBQ establishments, there are guidelines for how many meats and sides you can order at a time, but everything felt very reasonable and well thought out. The portions were perfect for our group, and the service was quick and attentive throughout the entire meal. One of the best parts about Korean BBQ is being able to cook your own food right at the table. It's such a fun experience, and it also means everyone can cook their meats exactly how they like them (no more beef still mooing on the plate!). Being able to control the cook on each item really made the meal enjoyable for everyone. The sides were fresh, well-prepared, and full of flavor. I also tried the kimchi fried rice for the first time ever and wow--it was amazing, especially with the egg mixed in. The cheese corn was delicious, and the cheese fondue paired perfectly with the chicken dumplings. From the moment we walked in to the time we left, we felt like valued customers and truly appreciated the attentive service. Overall, we left very happy and very full. I definitely recommend giving this place a try if you're ever in the area--you won't be disappointed. And you can thank me later.

We visited Olleh KBBQ for a Saturday dinner. Starting with parking, there is a medium-sized lot with free parking for the first 2 hours, then paid after. It can be difficult to find a spot, so plan accordingly. Despite it being a Saturday night, we were able to get seated right away, which was a nice surprise. Service was fast, and the food came out quickly. Everything we tried was good, and the overall experience felt very authentic. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The slightly smoky environment from the grills actually added to the KBBQ experience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We liked that the portions were on the smaller side, which lets you try different items without wasting food. Overall, a solid spot with good food and quick service. We would come back again if we are in the area.

Hello Olleh! We spotted you a few nights before when we were having ramen a few doors down and wanted to try out your KBBQ. The people waiting outside and the long waiting list certainly attested to the popularity. Returning Friday night may have been a mistake because getting a parking space was cutthroat. I ended up parking in the back behind all the restaurants after following someone going to his car. I had dropped off my wife to get on the wait list thinking we'll have a long wait. But she texted me soon after I parked that we had a table already! Score! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place was packed with people throwing meat down onto hot gas grills and smoke wafting up into the rafters.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] As I was walking to our table, I see one of the kitchen preppers shaving a whole ribeye into thin slices on the deli slicer for bulgogi. There are 2 levels of All-You-Can-Eat meats. Premium level gets you many of the standard KBBQ items such as LA kalbi, bulgogi, pork belly, 24 protein items in all, including shrimp & octopus for $34.99. The Prime level for $45.99 adds 9 more premium cuts like ribeye & Tiger shrimp. For some reason, Prime includes Fried Chicken Nuggets. They better be the best darn nuggets ever, but we opted for the lower Premium. Both levels include banchan and kitchen items like steamed egg, kimchi fried rice, tteokbokki, dumplings and japchae. My wife loves japchae, but this was not very good, so best to skip it. We also ordered king mushrooms, onions & cheesy corn to cook on the grill. We asked for Romaine lettuce to wrap the meat and they just stared at us like we had 2 heads. Ok, I'll just eat my grilled meat with rice then. Now, I'm a stickler for doing my own grilling and they left me to to do it and coming to change the grill plate several times. I did see them stepping in for some newbies that needed help though. Being just the 2 of us, we didn't order a lot, but some tables had meat plates spilling over and hanging off the table. The bulgogi was good, but the LA kalbi could have been more flavorful with a stronger marinade. The pork belly was nice & tender. A quick sprinkle of rock salt or dip in soy and it was perfect. At the end, we ordered the pineapple though I didn't grill it. I thought we would get fresh pineapple, but it was just slices out of a can, which was fine. I'm still wondering if those prime chicken nuggets would have been worth it...i

It's been a few years since I've been to Olleh and I had remembered it as being an okay spot, but I wanted to give it another try and I'm so glad I did! The service was amazing and had Josh as our server, he was very attentive and very kind as he made sure to come by every now and then to check up on us and cater to our needs. The menu looked very appetizing and had tried some new meats and I'm so glad I did as I found some new favorites!! I'd definitely recommend the "sweet and sour thin pork belly" [[HIGHLIGHT]]I also loved the vibe and ambience Olleh has! Darker lighting than most kbbq places but I enjoyed it along with whatever was playing on the tv's.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Though on the pricier side, definitely worth eating here!

For some reason, it was super crowded during Saturday the 18th because there was a grand opening in the same lot. So parking was absolutely horrible. Also, why does the parking require you to pay now?! That absolutely sucks. I don't think it's the business' fault, but unfortunately this is a factor that would make me want to come less. And I used to come here a lot. The quality of meats are pretty much the same. I miss when they offered an egg with the kimchi fried rice but now they don't. And unfortunately the prices for both are only going up. I also wish they somehow fixed their air conditioning or something. That's the one thing that hasn't changed, they basically only have fans and sometimes it can be really hot in there. I unfortunately think I'm going to find another KBBQ place which makes me sad.

Aye, I didn't want to spend so much tonight but the premium items looked so delicious... AND they were delicious! The stars of my dinner were the premium short ribs and the butterflied king shrimp. The short rib meat was oh so tender and flavorful. The king shrimp were like little lobsters. Oh so yum. I thought the tbone would be the star. I recommend trying both. I think you will also choose the short rib meat. I'm sad I couldn't try a larger variety of dishes but I only have so much stomach space... That is the only downside of this restaurant. You're left looking back over you shoulder with thoughts of what other dishes you missed out on. The servers were great. Super nice. Super fast. Super attentive. The smoke was a problem though. Their ventilation wasn't very strong. Everyone knows you'll end up smelling like K BBQ for the rest of the day, anytime you eat at a restaurant like this, but my friends daughter's eyes were burning from the smoke blowing into her face. Hope they get that fixed I would definitely go back again. I'll just seat my enemies downwind.

The food was amazing all you can eat Korean bbq - meat was good quality. Ryan our server was wonderful always checking on us extremely friendly great service. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Restaurant was clean (of course smoky because of the bbq) - but tidy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We frequent Olleh often this time we had Ryan he was excellent!

Was in convoy area and really wanted KBBQ but did not want to wait over an hour or two just for KBBQ elsewhere.. Saw Olleh and decided to give it a try! First off, the quality of meat here is really good, I like how their brisket is filled with fat / chewy, it was super good and tender along with their bulgogi meat. I enjoyed the lean cuts/meat options here. One thing I wish they had was more options for Korean sides, it feels super limited to me and the cheese corn wasn't that great either. Their side dishes could be so much better and you can't opt for much here. Their customer service is AMAZING. SUPER FAST and SUPER friendly staff, someone always stopped by to check up on us and we always got our grill changed quick and food items always came out within seconds / minutes of ordering. I really appreciated their service. The ambiance is your typical KBBQ restaurant, I would say it's on the smaller side for seating area. For the price I would say it's ok because of the lean meats but not so much on getting a wide variety of quality sides, etc. Seating took us about 15 min on a busy night, if I were craving full on KBBQ not sure if this would be my go to place but def worth trying if you like quality meat.

Olleh Korean BBQ is hands down my favorite Korean BBQ spot in San Diego. The quality of the meat and the service are both consistently top-notch, which keeps me coming back every time. Their sides (banchan) are just as impressive as the main dishes--everything tastes fresh and well-prepared. The steamed egg is perfectly fluffy, the corn cheese is rich and satisfying, and the pickled radish adds that perfect refreshing balance. As for the meats, they absolutely deliver. The ribeye is flavorful and tender, the pork short ribs are packed with taste, and the marinated garlic pork belly is a must-order. But my personal favorite has to be the finger bites--they're incredibly tender with beautiful marbling that just melts in your mouth. If you're looking for high-quality Korean BBQ with great service and delicious sides, Olleh is definitely the place to go. Highly recommend!

This place is more of 3.5/5 stars imo but I'll explain. I came with my boyfriend on a Friday night and it took about 20 mins to be seated compared to another kbbq place in the area that took 2 hours! It's located in a decently sized parking lot but the spots can be tighter for cars bigger than compact. Food: We opted for the prime menu for about $45 per person. I think just opting for the regular menu would've sufficed. The finger meat, short rib, and pork jowl was worth it, every other premium item was either dry or nothing I would've paid extra for tbh. The meat quality itself was pretty good but like I said, nothing really wow'd me. I will say I was disappointed in their lack of banchan, they don't have any kimchi sides here! But the saving grace was actually their cheese fondue cup (who knew cheese paired well with kbbq??) Service: Waiters were nice and seemed to always knew when we were ready to order more! Ambiance: It was nice, they played a lot of kpop and also had a tv that was playing the basketball game so it was a win-win for both me and my bf. Overall, with the many kbbq spots in Convoy, I don't think I'll be back because the lack of kimchi banchan surprisingly was a big miss for me. And it's a bit on the pricier side as well for not having everything I'm looking for in an AYCE kbbq.

Upon returning from trip this summer, I was starving after a long day of travel and decided this was what i wanted to eat. The quality of meats and banchan are great at this spot. Great service with many employees checking in and changing the grill often. Plenty of options and worth walking in and waiting for.

Service was good. Waitress did a great job & was very attentive. The food was decent. The best part was the steamed egg & Pork Belly. Other than that everything else was okay.

My family has a birthday tradition where the birthday recipient gets to select where we're going to eat their birthday lunch or birthday dinner. My wifey asked us what about Korean BBQ, which was an unusual question since she was the birthday recipient and she gets to choose. My life partner mistakenly said she wanted to eat at a Korean BBQ place we had dined at before when she actually had meant Olleh Korean BBQ. I had eaten at the Olleh restaurant many years ago in Rancho Bernardo, which is now a different KBBQ place, so I was happy that my life BFF chose Olleh and I was going to grub there again. The food was delicious, belly stuffing, and we received outstanding customer service. There used to be an Olleh KBBQ in Rancho Bernardo, but the only one standing is the Convoy location. There are so many Korean BBQ restaurants in the Convoy Asian District competing against each other that if they're still in business, then they're doing something right to keep customers coming. Olleh is located in a busy outdoor strip mall where you can find Yun Tea and bb.q chicken. The restaurant is across from Cross Street Chicken and Beer and Wienerschnitzel. I highly recommend that you visit Olleh when it opens especially if you're eating there on the weekend because parking fills up quickly. Parking is complimentary for 2 hours, but after 2 hours, you'll need to pay using the QR code on the signs around the lot. The restaurant is spacious with many table grills and booths with leather seating. There was a faux brick wall, neon signage, and televisions not really showing network shows or sports. We celebrated my wifey with 8 of our family members, so we sat where the group tables with two grills are located. The customer service we received from the many staff who took care of us was outstanding. They all worked hard, took care of our requests expediently, and were all friendly and accommodating. Our daughter's favorite Korean BBQ restaurant is Olleh and her and her boyfriend have frequented Olleh on multiple occasions. Part of my wife's birthday surprise was coordinating with my daughter to be at my wife's birthday celebration, so I'm glad Olleh was chosen. Since our daughter was an expert about Olleh, she'd be able to tell us what to order and other relevant things about dining there. Olleh has two All-You-Can-Eat options with one being a Prime selection and the other being a Premium selection. The Prime costs $46 and the Premium costs $35. There was maybe one thing I really wanted to order from the Prime option, but we had more than enough choices from the Premium option. All of the meat choices we selected from the Premium section were tasty, filling, and ate really well with the sides we selected. The sides aka banchan needs to be ordered individually. The staff put out a small sample of banchan, but the menu lists what banchan items you can order. The following are the meat selections we chose from the Premium section: beef belly, beef bulgogi, signature garlic pork jumuluk, top blade steak, marinated top blade, premium pork belly, garlic pork belly, and thin sliced pork belly. My favorites were the beef belly, beef bulgogi, top blade steak, marinated top blade, and the premium pork belly. For the sides, I enjoyed the japchae, kimchi fried rice, white rice, corn cheese, and rice paper. Place the cooked meat on top of the rice paper and enjoy a different eating vessel. It had been awhile since I had last visited Olleh, but now I understand why it is my daughter's favorite Korean BBQ restaurant. The food was satisfying, I wished I had stretch pants after dining there, and their customer service was on point.

Even if my kid is 2 years old I will still be charged 32 for him?

It does not look like it! It says the price listed is for kids ages 5-10 y/o. Under 5 probably wouldn't be considered one who could eat a whole lot so they wouldn't get charged. Also the kids price is listed to be $15.99 :) So even if he was charged…

Do they have tables big enough for 10 people? Without having to split the party?

The most they have is 8. We came in a group of 10 and had to split up. It was tables next to each other but still not together

Is there a minimum person per table for AYCE?

    No there's no minimum

    How are their AC?

It's not bad they have Vents on top of the tables too

Do they take reservations for large parties?

Yes, I've had a party as large as 10 before, I've even seen groups as big as 15+ seated in the back but expect there to be a bit of a wait as they try to accommodate to have everyone seat together

What are their gluten free options?

    Open for New Years eve?

    Yes they are

Can I substitute brown rice for white rice here?

    They only have white

The other day, I got the tri tip sandwich with chimichurri. The order came up quickly. I live a couple of blocks away. By the time I was home, the sandwich was cold. Not lukewarm, not tepid, but cold. But the REALLY disturbing thing was the bun/bread. It fell apart, into large chunks, the minute I opened the paper wrap up. A sandwich has two major components, BREAD and the filler. Can't you have decent fresh bread? This seems to be a challenge lately for the Grand Ole BBQ. A couple of months ago, I got the hot links, and they were served on the most run of the mill, grocery store quality, HAMBURGER bun. LINKS, folks, should be on a hot dog shaped bun, not cut up into small pieces and placed on a cheap, round, bun. I can't decide if this is hipsters, serving food and doing it their way, with whatever happens to be available at the moment, or if this is management saying "we don't care about your expectations." It isn't novel, to put links on a hamburger bun, it doesn't make it artsy, or unique, it makes it look like an afterthought. So does try-tip on a bun that wasn't. And the chimichurri- driest, almost oil-free chimichurri I've ever had, I had to add oil, at home, to be able to spread it. Good chimichurri isn't difficult, I make it all of the time. Make an effort people. Restaurant are closing. Disregarding your customer is one quicker way to meet that end.

It's a relaxing place to chill, have a meal and a beer, listen to some music or watch a game on the tv, and let the kids run and play so they aren't bored.

Highly recommend recommended the food is outstanding From…read morethe slow cook meat to a hotdog, the best cowboy beans I call them cowboy beans Western style barbecue beans Not too spicy just right Great selection of beers and soft drinks Never ordered a cocktail therefore I do not have an opinion on cocktails I'm sure they're very tasty I enjoy a good cold beer with my barbecue Five stars plus
