The first thing that got my attention was the condition of the books. They're in really good shape. Some used bookstores make me feel like I can't wait to leave just so I can wash my hands Not here. The books are clean, organized really well section by section, and easy to browse. I went with my daughters and we had such a good time wandering the isles together. It felt like a quiet sanctuary filled with pages waiting to be turned. When I shop for used books, most of the time I'm not looking for anything in particular. I love to go for the thrill of finding something I didn't know I needed. The owner was helpful by way of suggesting some books that just came in. He went to the back of the store and brought the box to me. I didn't find anything additional to what I'd already chosen. Being a book lover, it's hard to say no but I also find pleasure in building my to be read book list. The prices are fair. I bought two books for under $10 which made my book-loving heart (and budget) very happy.

I went in with my friend about 15 minutes before closing asking if they had a hardcover of Lolita…read moreby Nabokov. I went inside and wasnt greeted by the owner at all. I noticed his hearing aids and so raised my voice when asking if he had a copy of Lolita. He asked me to repeat myself so I repeated myself whilst signing the name Lolita in ASL. He very rudley went to a nearby shelf, and took a book saying that this copy is hard to find and had never been opened before. I gently opened it and asked the price before he said it would be a couple hundred, so I put it back to continue looking around the store. I'm accustomed to book collecting and understand that prices on collectors addition items can be higher than expected so this didnt bother me at all. I was however bothered by his rude remark saying "ugh, well its been opened now" under his breath. I then went to the back of the store to look at the rest of their inventory which I must say is very nice and filled out. I didnt find anything else that interested me so I went to leave and told him to have a nice day, in response the owner rolled his eyes and said sure. I didnt particularly feel strongly about the interaction until my friend who's white pointed out how he treated me rudley whilst being kinder to her (I'm black and queer.) My friend and I then went and left reviews talking about my experience saying there was a good collection of books but that the owner was rude. The owner then responded saying I rudley came in late and "cracked the book open hard enough to hear the spine crack" which I have a hard time believing seeing I didn't fully open the book, and even if I did, like I stated before the owner is hard of hearing and couldnt even hear me talking at him from across the room. On top of that, the owner claimed that his invetory was simply "above my pay grade" which is incredibly microagressive and insensitive to say to someone who you don't know. I'd also like to point out that all the low reviews of this store complain of the owners unkind nature and seem to come from all people of color, making me believe that the owner is predjudice against POC. I was really excited to experience a store with such a nice collection, but I clearly am not welcome here

I participated in the Houston Book Crawl and wanted to check out this bookstore. I had no idea…read moreabout this place but I'm so glad they're a part of this community event. I was their first participant and Ms. Nikki made me feel so welcomed. I love how the bookshelves are arranged with the new books in front and as you walk through the building they're sectioned off with various fiction, sci-fi, nonfiction, children's, religion, and suspense books. Plus they have a sign that tells you the prices for used hardback and paperback books. The new books are pricier but I know they're worth it at least for me. This was a real treat to check out.
