Nothing new to report in this review except to say YUMYUMYUM. I am not a donut fiend, but these donuts were FRESH and delicious (so much for saving one for breakfast the next day). Sweet little spot just south of the Old Market, perfect for the morning sweet tooth. The service isn't exactly perky, but for those of us who don't need that, it's just fine. The coffee isn't always on, especially later on in the morning, and it's nothing special; but again, good if you need it. I do enjoy their long johns which are well coated in chocolate with a sweet cream on the inside. My absolute favorite place to get donuts! Friendly owners, staff, and fresh donuts! The variety is not huge but it is just right with all the classic donuts. This is the best donut/pastry shop in Omaha in my opinion. Everything that you read about their cake donut is correct, nice crunch on the outside and a wonderful dense, tender inside. I really enjoy their long johns and yeast rolls as well. The place is very low key and doesn't look like much from the outside or inside for that matter. The two older ladies that run the place are helpful & courteous. CAUTION: hours state that they open at 7:00AM however, most of the times I have been there that early the doors didn't open until about 20-30 minutes later. This is the place for donuts in Omaha! They are fresh and the frosting and toppings are really good. The frosting is soft and flavorful, not flakey and over sugary. The peanut butter topped donuts and danishes are my favorite (served only on Fri and Sat). The prices are very reasonable. You will love these donuts, trust me. read more

I found Olsen's on Yelp and never looked back. They are on my way to work from Iowa to Omaha (only minutes off I-80), so in addition to being the best donuts I have ever had, they are convenient for me too. I think what makes Olsen's special is how fresh the donuts always are and the unique and varied choices they offer. I had to post this morning after visiting the shop for a year, because I bought a couple dozen for my office and had one of their pumpkin spiced donuts and it was amazing. To be honest, my favorite donut shop is Tato Nuts in Gulf Springs Mississippi but since we were visiting Omaha and not the 'Sip I Yelped this place and decided to try it out. Olsen Bake Shop has the best donuts in the world. I never ate cake donuts as a child, thought they were too heavy. But Olsen's are light, fresh and there is a little crispy texture on the outside. I can not and will not eat any other donut or roll from a grocery store or otherwise, unless maybe a homemade one straight from the fryer! Others seem to have a preservative taste in them that I can taste right away. Not these! We have been going to Olsen's for over 30 years. Our 4 children grew up on them! My son requested a brunch for graduation with bagels from Bruegger's AND donuts from Olsen's!
