Once past the abundant apathy from the barista my cappuccino was quite good. I've never understood the "can't be bothered" attitude from some of the service in Olympia. I'm not asking for the world, I'm simply asking to place my order. My cappuccino was perfectly light and creamy with great nuance and mouth-feel. Arguably the best I've had in Olympia. My wife's mocha on the other hand had almost zero chocolate taste. She was almost positive she'd be given a latte by mistake. Tried the mocha. Great espresso but a little light on the chocolate. Mind you, I'm not a fan of the over-hershey'd mochas that one usually finds. However, the coffee-chocolate balance can go too far in the other direction and this one did. The vibe was classic Oly though. One visit and I felt like a regular by the time I left. As stated on the Olympia Coffee Roasting Co page, this coffee is amazing!! The best Oly has to offer. It's comparable to great Seattle coffee like Vivace and Victrola. However, I don't visit this one very often due to one bad barista. Yep... I will literally drive up and drive away if I see said barista, it's guaranteed burnt coffee. I once had to order a chai (I met a friend at this location) because said barista was working and I really couldn't put up with a shitty drink at that point. Whenever I'm on the westside of Olympia, I get my espresso at the tiny place. They take great care with each coffee drink, and for this coffee snob it's a great relief to know that my macchiato/cappuccino needs will be well met. There is no seating inside, but you can lean casually against the counter while chatting with the barista. On those rare occasions when the sun comes out, you can enjoy your coffee outside on the rustic benches. Excellent cookies and beans, too! read more

I went here because I heard such good things about it and when I finally went I was very unimpressed. The coffee wasn't bad but the real turn off was the employees. I was trying to figure out what to order and see what was good and the people behind the counter were carrying on their own conversation about what they were doing that night and taking about their relationships, totally ignoring myself, the customer. Not even a "Hi". I had to interrupt there discussion to order. That's a real turn off to me. Customer service is very important for me. At Starbucks they are 100x more friendly and customer service oriented, so much so I ignore the dull coffee and go there. I know one thing for sure, I will not go again. Plenty of other coffee stands in town that are wonderful places. read more

Not much to say about it, solidly good coffee and not too pretentious. Fast service, a little pricey.

I would say the friendliness and ambiance is better in my opinion than the taste of the coffee. But its just a taste preference on my part and I have only tried the espresso and a latte. I have only been here a few times and each time was during the crack of daybreak and the sunrise, latte art, the easiness of conversation and crisp smell of fall reminds me that I am lucky to live in Olympia. read more

I really like this local coffee establishment. They roast and serve some coffees that you wouldn't normally find at other coffee places in town. They take their coffee very seriously. This particular Olympia Coffee Roasting Co. is quite a bit smaller than the one in Tumwater. I like the Tumwater location a bit better because they grind your choice and brew it right in front of you. That's fresh! Still this is a very good place to get a great cup of coffee and a conversation. I'm sure I will return. read more

I guess I'm not understanding the accolades. I went there for the first time last weekend and had a latte. You could barely tasted the coffee -- it was lost in the milk. Maybe I'll give it another shot and try an espresso (pun intended). Frankly, I prefer Method Coffee Bar or Batdorf. read more

Honestly this is the worst coffee I have had. I have tried it on two occasions now, first at the actual store and now a restaurant. It is the most bitter coffee I have had and leaves a terrible aftertaste in my mouth. stopped by to get an espresso around 10ish this morning and was waited by one obnoxious, unfriendly, and condescending staff person. when i asked her which coffee was being used today, she condescendingly, with a sneer on her face, said that they have been using the same coffee for a month. why couldn't she have answered politely and in a tactful manner? some food for thought lady, if you don't like working in the service industry, get a different job. and this is the second time i've received poor customer service from the same person. maybe it's because i'm a person of color, and she a white euro exercising her white privilege! should have gone with my instinct and went to batdorff and bronson or bar francis a mile or two away. read more

I love the look and feel of this place. I was so excited when they opened in my neighborhood. I went to them when they first opened and got a really good latte. At the time, I owned my own coffee stand, so it took me over a year before I bought another coffee from them. I did finally buy another latte from them and it was just OK. I summed it up to just a bad day. Then we had an ice storm and we were out of power for a number of days. I ordered a latte each day. That makes 5 lattes. Every single time, they screwed up my order. And every single time the shots tasted acrid with a strange after taste. This cafe was the only one with power during the storm. Perhaps they were so busy that they had to use coffee beans that were too fresh because they couldn't keep up with the demand. The staff are always really nice. Even though they messed up most of my orders. I always wait to drink, so I have already walked away before I knew that the drink not right. As of right now, I will never go back. read more

This is the closest coffee shop by my house so I bought I would try with my mother in law. That was the only time we have gone and won't go back we will just make a trip somewhere else. My husband and I were visiting family in Olympia and came across this cute coffee shop. As soon as we entered we were greeted by a nice young man. He spent a lot of time with us giving detailed information about our coffee choices. My husband ordered a brewed coffee and I ordered a latte. Both were excellent and my latte art was adorable. I will be the first one to say I am not an expert on coffee and I am not a three latte a day guy. I will also be the first one to say that I know what I like when I see it, taste it or hear it and I like this place. I went so far as to get a cup of coffee sat down and enjoyed it, got in my car and left then, came back 15 min later for a second cup. I would normally never do that and am still surprised that I did. They are super nice, a relaxing area and the coffee is everything that you could hope for. I am an old guy and retired out of the army so I have had some bad coffee and every once in a while (a great while) I will have someone grab me some Starbucks if they are going but nothing compares to the time, effort and care these folks put into their product. The most vile latte I have ever had the displeasure of tasting. The smell of it makes you want to kill yourself. If you find yourself walking into this little broom closet of a business, ask the hobbit behind the counter for a latte and prepare yourself for a loathsome, heinous, nauseating cup of the worst five dollars you ever wasted.
