The vibe in this diner is straight out of 1986 neon, carpeting, mirrors, purple and turquoise. Clean though which is always appreciated. We were seated promptly and our waitress was decent. I added this restaurant to yelp when they first opened and I couldn't find it on here. I just realized I never posted my review! I got a cheeseburger with fries and liked my meal okay. This place definitely went downhill. We waited forever for a table only to be told we could sit wherever we wanted. It took another 15 minutes for the waiter to come over. The Manager strolled in around 10 something and did nothing to ensure the current guests were pleased with the service. The food was bland and took forever to come out. The place is starting to look like it needs to be updated already, and even the menus are faded and dirty for the prices, the service and quality are just not there. I wanted to bring the kids to the "diner that makes awesome shakes " and forgot the name. It's the weatville diner! It's super clean inside. The staff there (I met three) were very kind and smiled the ENTIRE time. The food was ok- I am not a fan of shoestring fries - but the milkshakes were the BOMB. we went all out and got the cotton candy / carnival and the Oreo. I would suggest if you don't want the actual milkshake part too sweet, ask them not to put syrup inside the milkshake part. That would be the only adjustment I would make. This way the milkshake part isn't too sweet. We will be back!! read more

I've been coming here for years, but apparently the place was recently sold and now has new owners. The food is okay, but the service has gone way downhill. I was seated and waited about 15 minutes before anyone came to take my order. The food came out pretty quickly, but that was the last I saw of my waitress for about half an hour. So, with nothing else to do, I thought I'd write a Yelp review. I finished my sandwich and have been sitting here for 20 minutes waiting for the check. Meanwhile, I see my waitress waiting on other tables and then sitting at the counter and staring at her phone. The only other waitress on duty has been standing at the counter, chatting with some customers that she obviously knew. If I ever come back, I'll make sure to ask for my check as soon as the food arrives. I guess they don't realize that some people only have a limited amount of time for lunch. I like to support new restaurants so we decided to try the Westville diner with its present management. This group has the diner decorated the way it used to be. It was clean and tastefully arranged. The hostess was welcoming and friendly. Our elderly waitress did not have the correct information about certain dishes and did not ask anyone for accurate answers to our questions. We ordered the specials on the menu. I ordered the crabcakes with mac & cheese. My friend had a vegetable omelette. Everything looked nice, but it did not taste good. The crabcake was full of severely over cooked shrimp. The omelette came out with certain things that were specifically requested to be different. The most disappointing feature was the type of oil that evidently was used to make the omelette and the crabcakes. It left a terrible taste in your mouth and ruined the meal. You only have one chance to make a first impression and unfortunately, it was not very good today. read more

I ended up getting a delicious Philly cheese steak omelette with no side, while my sister opted for steak and eggs - both were amazing. I used to eat at this diner when it was under different management and wanted to try it since it changed hands. The staff were very friendly and the decor is nice, spacious with blue lighting across the ceiling. The service was prompt and efficient. I ordered the Greek special that came with chicken, lamb moussaka and Greek salad, along with pita bread. The meal was healthy, a good size, and of course, tasty. I liked that the meat was cooked plain and juicy, without unhealthy additives or sauce. For dessert, I was going to order one of their ice cream sundaes but didn't realize how huge it was. You'd ideally want to share one of those with at least 3 people. I ended up with the blueberry pie; my waiter added whipped cream at my suggestion. I appreciated being able to view desserts in the glass display prior to selecting my choice, which hit the spot. Prices are reasonable. The waiter prints the check from the card reader, then you access the app from a QR code (you don't have to download the app), pay and leave. I like this better than when they hover over you with the card reader. Overall, I had a good experience eating here and would return. read more

The ambiance of the diner was nice. The carpeting really needs to be replaced - It looks like some updates were done and then stopped; it's a retro feel in the place - lots of purple, blue, silver, and bright lights. The food was good. The fries were nicely seasoned. You do get a decent portion. Highly disappointed at the fact I had to pay .79 cents each for pickles and onions on my burger. I can see if I was asking for cheese (which I did and I was alright with paying extra for) or extra meat, but for pickles and onions, that is ridiculous, or if you're going to charge, at least charge within reason. Our waitress Monika spent the entire time on her phone. Only came over to take our order and serve our food - no follow-up. That is more than likely why they are advertising for help. I did notice the other staff members focused on their customers and one bus person who was busy cleaning and assisting customers like us if they needed something. I give this woman a lot of credit because she was really going above and beyond. They are lucky to have her on their staff. read more

The new owners have really done a great job with this place! Everything we've had there has been excellent, especially their breakfast dishes. Today I decided to try something different and had their Westville burger, which was super tasty and good quality. The fries were really good, too The staff is always friendly and helpful. I'm glad they took out the pink neon from the dining room that had been there since I was going there for late-nite eats after the bars. Also, their online ordering system is easy to navigate and provides a lot of options so you can get exactly what you want. Almost uniformly friendly and accommodating service. On slow mornings some of the staff like to play with our baby, which makes us very happy. One time we had a waiter who was checked out and inattentive, but that's the exception and we still got our food. Very clean, attractive, roomy version of classic suburban diner decor & layout. It's clean. It's open. The service is terrible. The pancakes and french toast are terrible. I've tried this place a couple of times, and it never got better. The waitresses never comes to take your order, never once refilled coffee, never came back to ask "how is everything?" Didn't come back with the check. Tried to hunt down a waitresses to bring the check, and finally had to just stand by the register, for a while. I asked about coffee refills. She said that you have to ask for a refill. Coffee refills are free in the morning, but you have to find your waitress, ask her, and then she will go ask another waitress to get your coffee. I never successful got a coffee refill. I don't know why I even wanted a refill, that coffee tastes like it was made with toilet water. The pancakes tasted like cardboard. It seems like they buy pre-made pancakes and heat them up. They didn't bring any syrup even though one of us had pancakes and the other had french toast. I felt ill after that meal, it was gross. There are better places nearby for breakfast. read more

Servers are competent but for as slow as it was when I came in, I'd say that the food too too long to come to the table. Waitress could have been a bit more attentive. The music played in the diner is torturous. It's a non-stop streamed mishmash of abysmal cover songs. All genres and time periods in random array that makes no sense. Every song is eerily recognizable but utterly bereft of the magic that makes these songs great. The music will keep me from ever stepping foot in this place ever again. Our usual breakfast spot was closed for the day so we ventured to this diner on Whalley Ave. We were so happy we did! Delicious food, big portions, and friendly staff made this place shine! Tables were clean and the entire restaurant looked very neat and tidy. Very cute decorations and an all over good atmosphere. Smiles all around from staff and customers. We tried the fish cakes and grits (delicious!) and pumpkin spice pancakes (so fluffy and tasty!). We will be back again soon to try more! Highly recommend! read more
