Cody's is about as old school as you can get. Open 24 hours, standard diner menu, relatively inexpensive - you can easily drop 25 at a diner this days, probably 1/2 that a Cody's. The food is exactly what is should be. Fine dining? Hell no! But it absolutely delivers what it sets out to do. Ya gotta respect that. read more

A very pleasant experience. Have passed by here a hundred times (no exaggeration) but have been hesitant to stop in based on prior reviews. Glad we did. The service was very good. The food was excellent, too. Mom got pancakes and 2 over easy eggs. Eggs were cooked perfectly and pancakes were hot and fluffy. I got an egg salad platter which consisted of choice of bread, lettuce, tomato and a very freshly made egg salad. I work primarily nights and it was so hard to find a good place to grab a bite to eat at odd hours that didn't put a hole in my piggy bank up until I tried this place this morning. I haven't been here in a while. This diner is open 24 hours. My cousin & me went an event in Strand theater. It ended late. I don't usually eat late nights anymore but I was really hungry. They expanded the inside which means they doing good. I think it's b/c Yale is so close by. It was packed w/ college kids. It looked good! Waitress was attentive & friendly. They had the ac on full blast I was freezing. I ordered a cheeseburger deluxe. My cousin ordered a vegetable omelette w/ disco fries. Unfortunately,my cousin doesn't like to share food. Booooo! Hot chocolate was delicious & the waitress added whipped cream which was a plus. I was a little upset they changed they steak fries into curly fries. Steak fries are my fave cut. Food was ok. I'm used to it tasting better. I guess I was bummed about the steak fries. I also was in between ordering a cheeseburger deluxe or breakfast. I wished I ordered the breakfast. Your typical everyday diner offering most if not all foods one would expect at a diner, the service is typically very fast paced, with the vibe of the restaurant giving a slight old school appeal. All in all I'd recommend coming here for a bite at night, though one issue I do have with this restaurant is that it has like 8+ different ghost kitchens, meaning it shares many different names on food delivery apps even though it's the same quality food from Codys Diner. These ghost restaurants names include the following, Cami's breakfast Cafe, Eggys Omelets, Hot ones Wings & Sandwiches, Grilled Cheese Mania, Patty Meltery, High Burgers, Pancake paradise, and Famous French Toast. Literally every single one of these "restaurants" just have normal menu items from Codys Diner, being the exact same food. I find it pretty frustrating having to scroll past all these when they all come from the same location when browsing for food. read more

Ok, Ordered delivery and paid all them crazy fees. Order arrives on a scooter in a reasonable time... ordered meatloaf with mashed veggies and a salad... received pot roast and no veggies.meat was all mixed in the potatoes.. So I call and explain it all to a few people...The cook says he made a mistake....The crazy person on the phone says,,,,Come down here and exchange it for the meatloaf...I explained I was at work and can't, after paying 475 tip 4 for delivery and 299 something fees. The absolutely worst cup of coffee I ever had in my life. Weird because a diner only has to do two things well - coffee and eggs (and I'm not talking poached). Somewhere the fictional Juan Valdez is crying real tears into his donkey's mane about how Cody's abuses his country's greatest export. The two New Haven cops at the counter were definitely comped. read more

I ordered from door dash and chose pick up to get the BOGO deal on the chicken tenders with fries. When I got the order, it was 5 tenders per box but no fries. I show them the description which clearly says "with fries". They take my order back and say they'll add the fries. Which they do, but they took 2 fingers out from each box! This is ASS! Come on...so now I get 3 fingers and fries, or 5 fingers and no fries, yet the menu says it includes fries with 5 fingers. Shame...really??? I saw a lot of negative reviews for this place and was originally turned off, but it proved the perfect place to grab a late night coffee after a show at Long Wharf. Service was incredibly speedy and the servers were so kind. I only got coffee so I can't speak to the food, but whatever the family behind me was eating smelled amazing! All around just a lovely classic diner feel. Will definitely be returning next time I'm in New Haven! read more

I've ordered late-night blueberry pancakes delivered from here several times during the pandemic and I have to say the 3-star rating of "okay" is right about on target. Sad thing is that its 100% NOT about the food it's about the lack of attention to detail... I keep coming back despite the fact that EVERY TIME there is something missing from my order. Last time my pancakes came with no syrup... fortunately I had a bottle but if I hadn't that "detail" could have ruined my dinner. Tonight was a bit worse they left a $3 item off my order and it's clearly on the receipt. (the idea in ordering an EXTRA side of sausage was to have EXTRA sausage lol!) EVERY. SINGLE. Was put up at Hotel by my company due to bad weather. My boss picked up Cody's diner for dinner and brought it to every employee's hotel room. What a great guy. My dinner was a turkey and cheese sandwich on a hard roll with great interest. Everything was delicious and I was starving so I ate it all up. The next morning he treated us all to breakfast again at Cody's I had an egg sandwich with hashbrowns and was completely satisfied. read more

I ordered from here through door dash. What a disappointment! I really had a craving for french toast. They packed it with no syrup! NOT A ONE!!! Without maple syrup the French toast was chewy and bland. The corned beef hash was tasteless! It's pretty hard to mess up corned beef hash but Cody's diner seems to have perfected chewy and bland. Do not waste your time on this place! read more

While staying at an Airbnb got this via Uber eats. It came super quick and was hot and delicious. I got a bacon egg bagel, son got chocolate chip pancakes and my husband got the hungry man. I totally reccomend the food! Can't speak for the actual restaurant or atmosphere. read more

Local, late night/open 24 hours, quintessential diner. I've only been here twice, but its kind of what you expect for a diner in New Haven. Old school decor (but they do have large flat screen TV's on the wall) and somewhat sketchy drunk patrons getting their grub on. Great for people watching...especially after 11pm! Their food is very reasonable and pretty tasty for a greasy spoon, as another yelper called it. They have a late night menu (2 pages) for the late night eaters. I had a bacon and egg sandwich on a bagel with a side of corned beef hash. The egg sandwich came on a choice of either a hard roll, english muffin or bagel. The bagel was surprising thin, but very soft and had a nice consistency overall. I had expected a thick, chewy bagel and it was not....but it was perfect for the base of my egg sandwich. Hash was tasty...a little on the fatty side but that's probably where most of the flavor came from. No complaints for a less than $10 late night munchy. My companion had a chicken souvlaki on pita bread that included a side of (crinkle cut) french fries. She enjoyed it and it looked pretty yummy. Waitress was nice and food came out quick. read more

She ordered a burger not tartare fir crying out loud. Our waitress was understanding and kind. I did pay, just what I was taught to do and we left.
