Let me start by saying if I could give zero stars here, I would. I contacted this company about a move, indicating that I was moving from a 2nd floor 1 bedroom with approximately 1700 lbs worth of stuff to a 1st floor apartment about half a mile away. They sent me an estimate for $402 that included 3 movers at $115/hr as well as a $57.50 truck rental. Because I didn't have that much stuff we estimated that, all told, it would take about 3 hours. Everything seemed fine, so I e-signed the estimate and arranged for a move window between 11am and 1pm. The first red flag was when they told me they didn't take credit cards--only cash or check. In 2019 that's a little suspect, and who even has a check book anymore, but they came recommended to me, so I pulled out $500 cash just incase the move went over a little. On the day of the move 4 guys arrived, and the leader informed me it was now a fee of $145/hr, plus a higher fee for the truck. Then he looked at my apartment and told me that all of my stuff would take 4-6 hrs to move. All told, on the spot he told me the move would be at least $800 and that if I don't have the cash to cover it, they would only move an estimated $500 worth of my stuff. It was the last day of the month and I had to be out, so I started panicking. I told him I didn't have $800 to spend on this move and that all of this wasn't in the agreement I e-signed. He told me I could always Chase pay him the difference. And that's when I knew this guy was trying to run a scam. I called his boss who kept telling me that 4 guys were better than 3 and it would take less time. He absolutely would not listen to me when kept saying this was not what we scoped for nor was it what I had signed on for. He assured me that the movers would move my things and we could work out the difference later if it went over. During the move out the lead guy lectured me on how much stuff I have and told me my TV table was cheap and I should buy a nicer one. And even though my landlord required all moving to be done out the back of the building, he didn't like how far the walk was, so he informed me he'd be using the front door. Two things: First of all, I don't have a lot of stuff. I'm not a minimalist, but I'm def not a hoarder either. It was a normal (and clean) 1 bedroom apartment. Second I like my TV table, but yeah, it was cheap because I like saving money. But that is beside the point. In the end, we didn't go over on cost, because like I said, I really didn't have that much stuff. The whole process took just over two hours. On the other hand, the movers didn't move all of my things. They refused to take my computer and some boxes that had my cleaning supplies in them. The guy said he might break the computer and didn't want to be responsible for it, and that the cleaning supplies were liquid and he didn't want to deal with them. I ended up having to make two additional Uber trips to get the remaining items to my new place. One last thing about this whole miserable experience--one of the movers took a massive shit in my new bathroom and the apartment smelled like it for about an hour after the fact, despite the opening of windows. Choosing to move with Olympia is choosing to lose money. Here is my experience. I moved from Schaumburg to Portland. I had a one bedroom in Schaumburg and was having them move that west. They gave me a flat rate, since I chose to use there storage as well prior to my move, at 1,700. When the movers arrived to my house the movers seemed to work quick and efficiently. However, when they got to my bed frame they took it apart, loaded it on the truck, then proceeded to tell me that it would be over $500 extra because when I said 'bed' on the phone that did not also cover my 'bed frame'. I just can't believe with all this other furniture I'd listed they really thought I was sleeping on a mattress on the floor? Of coarse I paid for this move in full, in the beginning, so I had to come out of pocket right then and there over $500 more extra, for my bed frame that they didn't even ask me about. Time went by I moved and they ended up arriving almost a week late with so many broken items. When they came to pack my one bedroom apartment, they came with 4 or 5 men. When they arrived to my five bedroom house in Oregon, they had two. The process took forever and I have multiple missing boxes, a broken chaise, a broken tv, my table is entirely scratched, I had two broken lamps delivered, and they even lost screws for my bed frame, leaving two shelves out of the headboard. On top of all this, being that I lived in Oregon the drivers thought it would be appropriate to ask if they could buy a joint from me. Let me tell you that nobody in this company deserves to put there feet up to smoke a joint. Terrible service, unprofessional, so many broken items, totally disappointed in this company. Sure the movers were polite and went fast. Despite their willingness to take care of us, these guys did a crummy job moving out stuff. After paying them a good tip and waving them good bye, we started to in pack our stuff and noticed that one of our bookshelves was smashed and lots of our wooden frames scratched up. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! Never been more disappointed with a customer service department EVER. Currently pursuing legal action, writing letter to newspapers, and just finished filing a BBB complaint (they have a rating of "F" by the way, with well over 100 recent complaints). Moved from Chicago to Scottsdale, paid extra for guaranteed delivery of my goods for a specific date. They showed up TEN DAYS LATE, and many of my items were damaged or destroyed. During the ten days we were waiting for my items, their customer service dept. was NOWHERE TO BE FOUND. Calls went unreturned, emails weren't replied to.... unbelievable. All the while, I racked up additional hotel and food bills since couldn't actually "move in" to my new place. Learned a lesson the hard way here, but hopefully will get at least SOME of my money back. Furious with this company. read more

Moving in general is definitely one of the most stressful experiences. It's always scary to read the bad experiences of some folks. I definitely feel their pain and it makes you leery to use any service. But I needed to make a choice soon for my relocation from the western burbs of Chicago across the state line to Gary, IN. In my case I had purchased my new home back in January 2016 and had the luxury of moving the majority of my items on my own little by little over the course of several months. So I really only had my heavy furniture to move. Finding a mover proved challenging because even though the distance wasn't that long, a lot of companies weren't willing to make it. I looked into PODS and none of those would touch my request unless I was moving halfway across the country. Other movers wanted to charge over $3K which I thought was way too high for what I had. I did an online request for pricing from Olympia and got a message from Carlos to call his office. He was very pleasant to work with and wound up being the lowest price quoted and estimated 6 hours for completion including travel time between the two locations. My move was scheduled for 06/25 at 8am. I got the reminder call the day before to confirm everything. I got a call that morning from Miguel confirming their arrival which wound up being 20 minutes early. Impressive so far. Days before I had help from D moving some of the heavier items on main floor hoping to cut time in loading their truck and shave time in cost. I was overly optimistic thinking they'd be out in an hour. It took another hour before they were done. So I was thinking they would use the whole six hours that was estimated. Somehow they defied logic and arrived at my new home 20 minutes before I did. D was there to greet them and when I arrived they were already emptying the truck and moving stuff inside. The crew was pretty cool and in the end they finished in 5 hours, saving me an hour. And everything came in tact. So grateful to my moving team for a mostly seamless move. Also happy for a positive experience. Now let me hope that positivity carries over when selling my old home. Incidentally if you have a mean pitbull and you're looking for a home in the western burbs of Bloomingdale, give me a call. Lol. read more

Initially, had a great experience but then they failed to response to emails/phone calls, and didn't show up on our moving day!!! Started with a good phone call with "Shane" and able to setup our relocation (reserved in March, for a move on June 30). Pick up from 2 apartments (was told no problem!), would be no issue with the elevator reservations, and then delivery to a different state. Paid for expedited/guaranteed delivery, also "no problem!". 1 week prior to move, email listing inventory and saying dispatch would call 24 hours prior to move. Inventory this time is different from our original inventory, missing 1/2 the items and the 2nd pickup address. We email them back, no response. Few days pass, I call - no response. Email again, no response. 1 day prior to move, we're a bit nervous. Can't get Shane on the phone and no email responses. By Friday 9pm, I'm getting scared - still no call from any dispatcher. Morning of move, we had an elevator reserved in a very busy apartment from 8am-10am, and then 2nd building/elevator from 10am-1pm. As expected, no flexibility in these booking thanks to Chicago high rise elevators and summer moving madness. 8:30am rolls around, still no truck, no phone call, no email. We're moving out of state, so we're now panicking. Our leases end that day, we have to be out. So we scramble, find a new company. Around 10am, get a call from someone at My Chicago Moving. Saying they heard my voicemails and they don't think they'll be able to get anyone out there for the pickup today. And they don't think they'll actually hit the delivery window we were promised. I asked for an explanation, a refund, and other options. No explanations, no apologies. Asked me to send "Shane" an email for the refund. It's been 4 days since our move date, still no emails from these people. Avoid these people like the plague. read more

I recently used Olympia to help my in-laws move locally. The crew did an outstanding job and even beat the quoted estimate, resulting in a lower bill. I referred them to my brother recently, who was moving to a new place and he was very pleased with their professionalism as well... no disappointments :) I have a big office move coming up in a few months and will be sure to use them again. I signed a contract with Olympia more than a month in advance of our move and was called 12 minutes after they were to show up to inform us they would not be moving is today. They would be here the following day - 24 hours late. They first offered us a $15 discount which is an insult. After further discussion, they offered to reduce our charge by $48.70! Here's the math: 2 hour (their minimum charge) = $220 Truck fee = $55 Shrink wrap fee = $15 (you buy 1000 ft roll for $12). Credit card fee = 3% Total $298.70 They offered $250 $48.70 "savings" I asked what I thought was fair, get ride of the minimum 2 hour charge and only charge us for the actual time we used their service. That most likely would have been $165 for 1 hour's work and truck fee- They declined So, they want to show up 24 hours late and cause a major inconvenience in our lives. Allegedly, they can't offer a larger discount because it would be illegal. I call bologna! When I asked to speak to the owner, I was told it's their policy not to directly connect customers with the owner. What is he hiding from? Are there a lot of people calling him to complain? Needless to say, we used a different mover for $260. Yep, last minute and only $10 more! They could've made $165 in an hour and made a customer happy but now they get nothing and I've posted this negative review 8 places and counting. read more

Movers beware!!! If you want ALL of your belongings delivered and not just a few, do not go with this company. Also if you want your furniture to be in the same condition it left your first location from in the same condition when it arrives at your new residence, don't use this service. When my belongings arrived I was left disappointed and sick to my stomach. The driver opened the semi container door and I could see my large dresser laying diagonally against a crushed box. Things were scattered in the truck container and it was clear nothing had been tied down. I had purchased a new bedroom set not long before my move and the large mirror that was part of a two-piece dresser set was shattered! You could hear the glass rattling around inside the moving blankets and wrap used to "protect" it. The large beautiful dresser (Lying as if had fallen) has a huge gouge on it. I took inventory as they were moving my things and noted a missing box. I asked if I could see if the crushed box inside the truck was mine and they refused to let me look because of their insurance policy. That box contained items that cannot be replaced as well as some that can if the company would respond to resolve this (which they have not). In the beginning I was pleased with the communication that took place with the representative that set up my move, Patrick was great. this was not a good experience. The movers arrived came into my apartment walked through and said it will be $250 more than I was quoted. After a bit of haggling (20Mins) I agreed so that they could begin the process. The one guy literally was taking 1 item at a time to the elevator (no equipment) Instead of filling up the elevator bank and then loading. Every time the lead mover entered my apartment he was making comments about how much stuff I had. Mine you I had no Bedroom Set, Kitchen set or Dining room set. I had a couch, 2 chairs, mattress, cabinet and small tables - I had 20 bins which I told them at the time of the quote. It filled 1/4 of a 48ft. truck. He consistently, was making comments saying I DONT WANT TO PAY - I said, I am done listening to you (a little less complaining and more working) He kept saying it was a 4 man job. My Son did so much of the work. I considered them 1.5 guys. I requested 4 wardrobe boxes they brought 2. The next day I had to go back and load up all my clothes it took me 4 trips to the car. It was a 7min drive to my new place and it took them over 15mins we were waiting for them. In order to keep it on schedule I had to unwrap all the furniture. So, I can truly only speak of my own moving experience with Olympia Moving and Storage from this morning. Now keep in mind I have not unpacked as of yet. But I will definitely edit my review if I feel differently. Hence the 4 stars for right now :) But from a purely customer service stand point and what I saw over the course of my almost 4-hour move (due to how much stuff I personally owned). I am forever grateful for Omar, Dwane, and Tony! Omar, Dwane, and Tony- The three musketeers who made a move that I was dreading to do completely alone a breeze. I was informed at all times of what was going on, what time frame everything could happen in and they let me know they could start early this morning. I had slept at 3 am from packing and trashing and was exhausted, to say the least, all moves are difficult. Omar- informed me of everything and worked on making sure all my items were wrapped and securely delivered. Dwane- worked tirelessly without any hesitation to the amount of work that was there, Tony- Brought the jokes and equally stayed focused on the task ahead At no point did I feel I had made a mistake- primarily the opposite- I had never used movers and I thought to myself- 'How have I never used movers'!!! These guys were respectful, mindful, pleasant, had amazing work ethic and worked very efficiently. It is very stressful to move, but with the help of Shai, the owner of the company we moved to our new house in 3 hours. There was an incident with the truck the morning of the planes move and Shai tried his best, keeping us updated about the delay and looking for an alternative crew and a truck, but is didn't work out. We eventually moved the day after, first think in the morning with apologies and a nice discount. Hope I don't have to move again anytime soon, but if I do I will use Shai service again. read more

Olympia moved us from Chicago to San Francisco, which was obviously a big move and one we were pretty nervous about. Our worries turned out to be completely unfounded: they handled everything quickly, efficiently, and professionally. Professionalism: Our movers were exactly on time to the pickup appointment, loaded everything quickly and carefully, and provided storage until we were ready for our belongings in California. Delivery exceeded expectations: Even though they had said it could take up to 21 days for shipping, our things actually arrived only three days after we gave them the green light. Our items were delivered in the same condition as they'd been packed, even after a month of storage and a cross-country drive. Items included a high-end acoustic guitar, many fragile kitchenware items, expensive appliances, and furniture. Rates: Olympia worked with me to give me one of the best quotes I received. No upsells, no hidden fees, no bait-and-switch trying to charge me more for anything. A couple of my boxes were odd sizes, but they gave an accurate (if not generous) estimate of how big the boxes were and did not even hint at overcharging. At delivery, there were two minor instances of damage (e.g. single cracked slat on a box spring) and even though I hadn't purchased their insurance package, they immediately provided a refund of what I reasonably estimated the damage to be worth (~$75). In retrospect, the service they provided was worth far more than I paid. If I were moving in Chicago again, I would happily pay much more to use them again. read more

Olympic Moving & Storage is a scam, and the company is full of liars and crooks. Knowing how Olympic operates, I am sure the positive reviews on this page are fake. They all showed up the same week of April from accounts with few other reviews. This blatant astro-turfing compelled me to update this once more. Here's my review. It's from a REAL, ANGRY customer: [12/1/08] My belongings were just picked up yesterday but I am so unhappy that I feel compelled to begin this review immediately. The movers were 3 hours late and didn't call to tell me until the "arrival window" was an hour gone. The team had poor English skills. Getting my questions answered was difficult - the guy in charge, Miguel, just read me the papers in front of me when I asked questions. They GROSSLY underestimated the amount of space I would need on the truck. I really don't understand how it happened, either, because I gave them measurements of everything when I was arranging the move. [12/4/08] Today I found out that: - I being charged $50 for storage on days before my delivery date - And my stuff also has not left Chicago! I don't understand why I'm being charged to store things in Chicago when there's no chance my things will arrive before my "first available delivery date" on December 10th. Also, Olympic has no idea when the truck will leave Chicago. It won't leave until it's full, apparently. When told "it's almost full" I offered to buy out the rest of the truck to get it moving, and then the story suddenly changed and the truck was nowhere near full. Is it "almost full" or not?? [12/8/08] It's a miracle! My stuff has left Chicago today! I had to ask their shipping representative about not paying for storage on Tuesday since my stuff left Monday, and she had to go through an approval with her manager over this. I'm surprised it isn't default protocol to automatically not charge the customer for storage that didn't occur. [12/13/08] I got a call at 9:30am from the truck driver with NBA, the company Olympic outsourced the moving to, saying the truck would arrive between 12:00 and 1:00. Here's the only thing about this move that has gone well: it only took 5 days for my stuff to arrive after its ship date, and they delivered on a weekend. I have a feeling the weekend delivery is merely coincidence, though. Still, this was nice. Now here's the bad part: Olympic picked up in a small truck, but they hand your stuff off to some company you won't know anything about (and won't be able to research) who delivers using an 18-wheeler. I had to find $550 in CASH *AND* find a 26' rental truck with an hour's notice or else these guys weren't going to deliver my stuff. My bank doesn't exist here in WA, and finding a rental with an hour's notice in an unfamiliar town is a hell I don't hope to go through again. The $550 is apparently for the "inconvenience" of having to load the 26' truck and drive it 300 feet to my apartment. I also paid for the rental. [12/14/08] Got some broken stuff, the worst of which is a wheel they broke off my computer chair and a completely smashed CD shelving unit. I'm told they do reimbursements, but now I am so sick and angry that I don't want to talk to them again. Most of my stuff seems to have survived. The packing they did on the TV was nice, but I wish the same care had been given to other stuff that got broken (chair, cd rack). [12/21/08] Ironically, things that didn't need packing got tons of it. A week later I am still tearing tape off boxes that were already well taped. I also found that the shelving unit from my garage was disassembled by the movers and the little pieces of plastic that hold the shelves up are nowhere to be seen. I have not attempted to get any refunds out of Olympic yet, namely because I don't expect any. They've been so hard to deal with so far, I wouldn't be at all surprised if they asked to see the original boxes my stuff came in. Some of the things they broke are so old, too, that there's no way to prove the value. I've had better luck calling the manufacturers of the items they broke and explaining that my movers destroyed it, and those manufacturers have been fantastic about sending me new parts. [In Conclusion] Olympic is a sham operation full of crooks. The price went from $2752 (initial quote) to a whopping $4868. That is a $2116 difference. I understand a "quote" is just a "quote", and that the moving industry is full of scams, but I still find that completely outrageous. Olympic completely low-balled me to get my business and then jacked up the cost. Here's what I paid: * $2100.00 upfront (at pickup) * $2128.36 at delivery * $550.00 SURPRISE!!! for them simply having to use the 26' truck I had to rent with zero notice * $90 for truck rental Grand total: * $4868 Don't bet your personal belongings and your wallet on Olympic Moving & Storage. Wow, I'm a little surprised at all the negative reviews on here...I have to say, I've never used them personally, however I have recommended them to several clients (I'm a real estate agent). The two that used them were both really impressed. I believe we compared them to Midway Movers and the cost was far less for these guys. They will also store your stuff for free for, I believe, up to 30 days. So I'm not sure what the issue was with the reviewer who said she was charged for storage. I have noticed that most of the negative reviews seem to be from people moving cross-country, so perhaps they operate differently. My clients have all been moving cross-town. My only beef is that if they don't hear from you, they will call you multiple times a day. I called on behalf of one client, so they had my number, and I must have heard from them twice a day for a few days. I appreciate you trying to earn my business, but chill out. read more

This company is a scam. They lowball everyone else out there because they add on extra charges that they don't tell you about until they're standing there with your stuff. And they know you'll pay because you have no choice because it's the last minute. There's no reason they should be getting 4 or 5 star reviews. We hired them with an estimate of $311 which they said could go up to $400 if it took some extra time. We gave them a list of every single thing they had to move. we're only moving 30 mins away and it was just our furniture they had to move. They arrived 2 hours late. They were supposed to come at noon and when we called the dispatcher he said when we signed the contract they gave us a 2 hour time window. yeah, the window was between 10 and noon. so after much arguing, the dispatcher said he'd send a 4th guy for free, which was reasonable. Then when they arrived, the guy said it would be an extra $150 to wrap everything, which was not told to us when we got the quote as well as another $150 for travel times. Now, if this had been told to us up front, we would have budgeted the money, but as my fiance and i don't make a lot, we had to put aside the money. However, they didn't seem to understand that even if we said, "sure, tack on some unnecessary charges" we literally couldn't pay them more than $500. The guy went out to call his supervisor and never came back inside. We assume he just drove off. We then called someone to figure out what the hell was going on and were given the run around as well from this new guy. DO NOT use this company. fortunately, we planned to move early and now are trying to find another solution to our problem. I used Olympia Moving for my move on August 5, 2011. I moved from a 4200 to 4900 block (same street). The reason I state this is because I was charged a 30 minute move time when in actuality, the move took 7 minutes from point A to B. The movers packed up my 1 bd condo in less 1.5 hrs...great...but they decided to charge me an additional $50 for wrapping up my sofa...isn't that included in the move under 'moving supplies'??? Once the movers got to my new condo (6 unit building...I'm on 2nd floor)...they proceeded to carry the couch through the front entrance. I told them the back entrance would make more sense as there is more room (open area)...but they didn't listen...they took 45 min to try to jam the couch up the front stairs and damaging the entrance wall...like a huge hole in the wall and scuff marks all over the wallpaper...(plus additional charges, now that the move is taking longer than 3 hrs originally quoted). Not only the wall is damaged now...but my couch has a cracked leg (these couches - sofa, chaise and chair - were purchased from Carson's less than 4 yrs ago...quite expansive)...so what does the mover proceed to do? Takes out a power drill and tries to screw together the leg that cracked! Hell no...so he can cause even more damage? I called Olympia right away and proceeded with a claim...that was August 5th...today is December 6th...and I still don't have the check they promised for $100. Here is the breakdown: -they can only pay $.30 per pound for any broken couch...mere $30 I'm getting for my couch that cost over $1000... -they cannot fix nor credit any monies toward the hole in the wall in the main entrance...I have to pay for the damage myself! -they offered to refund the $50 for the couch wrapping...and the extra $20 is some good faith credit... DON'T USE THIS COMPANY...The Customer Service dept sucks...you will have to stay on them everyday if things go wrong... Unfortunately, he didn't really offer any way to make it up to us, so while I appreciate the idea it seemed like a rather empty gesture. For the first time in my Yelp history I feel the need to start with this... If I could rate this place 0 stars, I absolutely would. I recently moved from Milwaukee, WI to Seattle, WA. As if this wasn't stressful enough for a 24 year old, Olympia decided to make it even worse. The original quote was reasonable. However, every time we spoke, it gradually increased (first warning sign). Eventually I was right up at the same price as every other moving company. Regardless, I signed with Olympia, because they had the availability I needed (second warning sign). The movers picked my shipment up a day late and attempted to charge an extra $125 for my bicycle (third warning sign). I received an email stating my shipment would arrive in Washington the following week. Yes, I had written proof. However, my shipment conveniently showed up on a Sunday night 29 days later with one man that was supposed to move my 300 pound couches- amongst many other things (fourth warning sign). A friend and I ended up doing all of the lifting and moving since the driver was also wearing sandals. Olympia refused to communicate with me throughout the entire process. The arrival date of my shipment continued to change on a daily, sometimes hourly basis. Please do your research before signing with them. read more

Once the couch finally arrived they only had two guys who were not able to get it into the apartment. When calling the office about the issue, they were very perplexed about the couch being left outside. No communication between their office and their drivers.. No returned phone calls when they were going to 'call the drivers' and see what the issue was. The couch was left outside for 5 days before I was able to hire another local company to send 3 guys to hoist it up in under 15 minutes. Couch is now inside my apartment with no thanks to Olympia Movers. Both teams that packed and moved our furniture out and in to our new place were great. Nothing was damaged. However, the warehouse forgot to bring 1/2 of our large sectional couch (the main thing we were moving besides a mattress and a few boxes) to Boston - though I was assured they have 'eyes on it in the warehouse' once the mistake was realized. Every time I call in to find out when our couch will be delivered the new person I am talking to is very confused as there is no note on our account to the missing couch. I am always assured I will get a call back 'once they figure out the situation' or that I will be emailed the next scheduled drive out to Boston. I used Olympia Moving and Storage for my move in January of this year (2013). The quote I received was from someone that was friendly and informative. They were friendly and on-time. They respected my items and my apartment, making sure not to track snow and dirt on my new carpet. They got the job done in great time. The only reason I give them 3 stars is because they added extra charges that were not mentioned until I had to sign the papers, at which point, I have no choice. $10 per item wrapped is a little steep and adds up fast. This has been the worst experience. We moved from Illinois to California. Our items were picked up in a timely manner, but be prepared to sleep on an air mattress and have none of your items delivered. We've provided an address for delivery more than a week ago. I've been asking for an estimated date we will receive our stuff and have yet to hear back. They will keep stringing you along, customer service/dispatch will say they will get back to you but then no one calls back. I've tried calling numerous times and no luck. The sales folks will always try to make it an easy call for anyone! I would not recommend them at all. If I could give 1/4 of star for service I would. They don't deserve anything!!! Ahh I wish I could give minus stars. This is the worse moving company I ever had to deal with. Here is why 1) They came in a budget truck when the site says they use their own truck 2) They came without blankets to wrap the furniture that were supposed to be included. Promise was made to wrap it in blanket at facility but THAT FREAKING NEVER HAPPENED 3) Destroyed my bed (the one they were supposed to wrap) 4) They arrived 2 weeks late to my destination which left me with an empty house 5) Site says the use their own people. We did a 4 bedroom house move from Westmont to Naperville which included a tredmill, elliptical machine, 2 large octagon-shaped picnic tables, large gas grill, 5 sofas, 2 big screen TVs and a ton of stuff that I should have already packed. They used 2 trucks. The team came in and worked VERY quickly. Only 2 items were broken out of the thousands moved, and they were cheap items anyways. Our move was done 1.5 hr quicker than expected, a bit under budget and we were so happy with them my husband gave them a $300 tip. I have been a customer with them since 2012 and I will Never use them again they broke a mirror scratch my console and cofee tables. DO NOT USE IF YOU HAVE TO SCHEDULE ACCESS TO AN ELEVATOR! They didn't show up when they needed to and we couldn't move. Like many in Chicago, we live in a highrise that requires scheduling an elevator to move in or out. When I scheduled the appt with Olympia, I specifically stated the window of time that I had the elevator booked for and asked if that was going to be a problem because the building had all other slots booked. I spoke with Ben and he said it wouldn't be an issue at all. On the day before the move, he texted me to confirm the time and repeated to me a different time frame of the elevator booking that I had stated on the phone when setting up the appt the week prior. I corrected him and stated the correct time that the elevator was scheduled for and he never responded. Then on the day of the move, the drivers never showed up. I did eventually get a call from the driver saying they would show up AFTER the window of time I had the elevator scheduled but it was too late. We couldn't move. Ben never answered the phone every time I called, would listen to the voice mail and just reply with a short text. TOOK 42 DAYS TO RECEIVE STUFF! If zero stars would possible, they would get it. Most important part of this rating is due to their terrible customer service. No one ever seems to answer their phone. I get someone to pick up approximately every two days. They promise updates after updates, but they never seem to come. Other reasons why I HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY: Background: moving cross country from mid-west to west coast. 1. Quote was not accurate, sales person said would call for a more accurate update, but never did 2. Did not receive the adequate 24 hour notice of pick up (called after 5:30PM notifying they would arrive next day between 11-1 only to arrive at 3PM) 3. Pick up crew was extremely unprofessional - talking about how they were up all night, had no sleep and were hungover 4. was never notified the 1-21 business days would start once I provided address 5. IT TOOK 42 DAYS TO OBTAIN MY STUFF - this was over one week past the 21 business days I can't express to you enough how unhelpful this company has been. They did wave my outstanding balance of approx. $450 and I can claim more money back. this company is a bunch of liars. Their sales lady is pretty persistent and she will call you and be polite and promise a great great service only until you pay the security deposit and commit. Fist, Me and my husband made separate calls and were given different quotes. no credibility. Second- Then, on the moving day when we were already stressed and tired, the team came and jacked up the price (by 700 bucks) of the move From t,he original quote by counting little items. Third, Shocked and angry we called the supervisor Miguel to understand the new quote who while talking to us, (and finding us helpless) further increased the quote by 100 bucks. This was the final blow. He was a really rude man who basically threatened us to either pay what was demanded or get lost. That was it. We were so outraged and disappointed at their attitude. Ok this is confusing... First off, searching for moving companies is a pain. Olympia emailed me back with a great estimate and all that jazz so I used them. I am glad they did not call me, since it is 10 x easier to do this over email. Zula was very helpful answering questions by email whenever I had them. Secondly, I researched them on Yelp after I booked them. Apparently they changed their name from Olympic to Olympia. I am guessing due to the really bad reviews. So that is why there are not many reviews yet. Thirdly, they worked just fine! I still think this company outsources. The movers came in an Enterprise truck with "Olympia movers" taped to the front doors. This may mean they had truck problems and needed another one to fill in...or they outsource their movers. Lastly, the movers were fine. Super fast. Made me nervous because they were carrying 3 or 4 boxes at a time and some were marked Fragile. Yet, nothing broke. Everything made it safely. Yet, I only moved 6 blocks from my original destination. The foreman was a really sweet guy. Explained the paper work and my price was less than they quoted. read more

STAY AWAY- THEY ARE LIERS!!!!! (-1 Star) This is a note that I was forced to leave the salesperson- who sold me this piece of crap service!!!! "I am very upset with the with level service that I have received from this company. On the phone when you sold me the service, you told me that your company owned the trucks that would be transporting my stuff, and that the driver was an employee of Olympia. You also told me that the price on my contract was firm. When the movers arrived to load the truck, I was told that what you provided was only a quote, and that the job was actually $800 more. I told the driver that I was promised that the price you quoted, would be the price that was honored- this is when I was told that you (SHANE) was simply a 'salesperson', and that the price was NOT what you told me. I was in TEARS!! I had no choice, as I had to move that day, and did not have any other alternatives. THEN... I was told by you and the driver that loaded the truck, that it would take between 10-21 days for me to receive my delivery. It arrived 28 days later! AND When I began to unpack, I realized that many of my items were BROKEN!!!! What kind of business is this??? You were completely dishonest in what you sold me. This company is a scam. Moving central, Olympia, Olympic relocation systems, and Olympic movers are all the same company. They have an F rating on the Better Business Bureau... Look it up if you don't believe me. They keep changing their name and/or address to make it harder for the bbb to track them. I'm sure all of the 4-5 star ratings are fake. They threatened to raise the price by 500 dollars once my stuff was on their truck if I didn't give them a tip. They never answered their phone. They showed up way way past contract date. They showed up on a day that there was an city wide event outside my place. I told them not to show up then but they did anyways. Then they arrived and said that they could not move my stuff in but if I pay an EXTRA 400 dollars they'll move my stuff the next day. Bottom line.. Do your research. Go to google... Type in better business bureau... Then search Olympia in Chicago or skokie. You can't get worse than an F!!! Worst moving experience I've ever had. We received a quote for $600 it ended up costing $1400 to move our 2 bedroom condo, I can't even believe it, I was charged $250 for tape! This place is a SCAM. I do not blame the movers themselves, I blame the front office who gives them a bad name. The movers did a good job and didn't break anything. Horrible company and costumer service. The movers that got my stuff from my old place were fast and efficient but the rest of my experience with this company has been horrible. They did not come during the expected delivery dates and then they would schedule the delivery at times when I wasn't home (even though I called multiple times to confirm available times). And this is just the start.... Getting a hold of somebody that could help me was a mission. I had to call multiple times to multiple phone numbers and left multiple messages in order to get somebody to help me. I had a question about expected delivery time since the due date was coming up. This ordeal took about a week. When they finally came, they did not call in advance (as I was told they would) and showed up at 7 in the morning when I was leaving for work. Great! They delivered everything but did not assemble any furnitiure as they proclaimed they would. And of course they did not do it because they probably knew the guys that disassembled my furniture did a horrible job. They broke parts of the furniture and did not keep all the screws and tools needed to put the furniture back together. I was already mad that they did not assemble the furniture but got even madder when I went to do it myself and found that I did not have the proper screws and stuff. They don't handle your property with respect. A lot of my things were damaged and the broke some of my furniture. Once they have your money, forget it. They won't answer your calls. Not even the manager. If you get through to a representative consider yourself lucky. Since I had so many issues with my move, I asked multiple times to talk to a manager. They representative that I talked to first told me she would call me (NEVER happened). Then she gave me the person's phone number. I called her multiple times and left messages. She NEVER called me back. This is a horrible company with horrible costumer service. They may be cheaper than other companies but their service is awful. Please avoid it at all cost! read more
