There is no soap in the bathroom. The food is greasy and gross. The regular burger plate comes with 2 burgers for $25.99, while the kids burger comes with one for $8.99. NEVER again. Where do you get off when charging me a gratuity tip for a table of 4 at noon when there isnt a single freakin person in the restaurant except for us. The service was slow, the food was average and the fact that you want to tack on an extra gratuity and not tell me makes me furious. We came in here at 11:45 and asked if they were open and if they would be able to serve us. We then proceeded to tell them that we were in a hurry so if they couldnt it wasnt a big deal, but we had places to go. At 12:15 we were getting really impatient with nothing being done and nothing on our table. Dont tell us that you have things ready if they arent. They finally brought out some bread but it was too late, we were already feeling like we needed to leave before our food even came. I went up to pay at the register and they added a "service charge" of 10 dollars on our 67 dollar bill. I ended up tipping more because I had no idea because when they gave me the bill to sign, they just showed me the bill to sign where it says "pre-tip" amount. I ended up tipping way more for the worst service imaginable. I didnt discover this until a few days ago when going through my receipts to go over my expenses. The best schwarama I've ever tried. Try it in a laffa for authentic taste! Comes with a salad -- you can choose from any of fifteen salads. Get fried onions, fried eggplant, Israeli salad and pickles in your separate salad. I think it came out to about $15 total for takeout order. Quick service. In and out in about ten minutes. Tip: When ordering to go, go straight to the man by the register. Tell him you're ordering to go and he'll give you a receipt that you take to the front counter by the salads. I got a job on Avenue J about a month ago and have eaten lunch at a different place every day. Olympic Pita doesn't have the best falafel and shawarma, but it is the best for the price. For less than $8 you get fresh-made lafa stuffed with falafel and a pint-sized container to fill with your choice of salads. First let me say this review is long overdue and management may have changed since my unpleasant experience at this branch.... I was introduced to this place by my Jewish boss who wanted my to try a "Shuwama" (spellcheck) which I admit was very tasty. Truth be told I have no gripe with the food but rather the blatant display of racism I was dealt with considering that I'm Black. Now before anyone think this is just another Black person whining about trivialities let me state that I take no pleasure in this and I'm not doing it for any nefarious purpose. It was my boss who again made dinner arrangements for me and my gf with the intention of joining us a bit later. When I got there the place looked half full and of course I told the manager who quickly came to my assistant of my need for a table. He subsequently told me there was no table available as what seemed obvious were in fact booked and the patrons would soon be there. I then decided to order "take out" as the plans seem to have been a bad idea after all due to poor timing. Apologizing the manager quickly took my order personally and made sure that I left quickly. Twenty minutes later my boss accompanied by his wife showed up with no problems being accommodated. He then called to inquire about why I didn't stay/waited. He could not understand considering that by then the place was almost empty as more people left without any coming in. For the sake of brevity the following day my boss called to talk to the manager whom he knew personally. On speakerphone I heard him telling my boss that we ( my Gf and I) looked like the mafia and people seemed uncomfortable with us being in there. Clearly what seemed like an expeditious service was designed to quickly get rid of me. Of course being a regular guy who have never ever gotten a parking ticket I need not say how offensive this felt considering that I even tip the Spanish workers who prepared my order. Amazing food, Great price, best shawarma I have ever eaten in the USA. I just went here for the first time and was blown away by the high quality of food. Especially the bread and salads. They have a special where you get all you can eat of the israeli salads and they are all amazing. If i lived in NYC, i would be coming to this place 2-3 times a week. YUM!!! I went to Olympic Pita last night for chummus and pita and it was dee-lish. They brought two ginormous chewy, crispy, fresh, warm laffas to the table and served me a plate of nice fresh chummus. We will be returning. Wow! I would never think that i would end up here on a saturday night for my husbands birthday. But honestly to say i am so happy that our friends suggested this place. It was so comfortable and delicious! We ordered a falafel appetizer, shawarma platter and the chicken kebab. I loved their selection of salad. Their shawarma was so good! I haven't had such great shawarma in such a long time. Their falafel was made to perfection. And as an appetizer, it was actually very filling (about 8 pieces). The chicken kebabs (that's not what they were actually called but they were chicken on skewers). We got 2 skewers, very very good! They had such an amazing assortment of seasonings and spices on them. They were very juicy as well. They were a bit salty for my taste, but my husband enjoyed them. They give us unlimited water as well as pita! Their pita was amazing and delicious. The only reason why i have it down to 4 stars is that the pricing was a little higher than i wanted it to be especially for a dinner. While I will continue my quest to find the best felafel in New York, for now I definitely have to give Olypic Pita the crown. Not to say the place itself is perfect but the food is damn close. The laffa takes first prize without a doubt. The dough is fresh and warm, and has a fair amount of stretch considering how much I pack into it. When you order to go you first pay at the register and then you give the guys cooking (all Mexicans. This isn't really a complaint, but it does take away from the authentic Israeliness) your receipt and he gives you a plastic tin which I normally pack to the brim with any of the assorted salads and sides in front you, such as fried egglplant (the best), pickled cauliflower, cole slaw, fried and fresh onion, beets and more AND extra felafel balls which are in a metal container right by the salad bar. While I wait I like to just stand and eat some felafels, they're totally cool with it. The tahina is rich and almost as thick as the hummus but also liquidy enough to make the food easier to swallow and add a hint of flavor and texture. The hot sauce is phenomenal. It's this red/brown salad like paste. VERY SPICY but super flavorful. When the guys actually get around to making my laffa (takes 2-3 minutes of waiting usually), you can then get more of anything in the salad bar plus fries and they are super generous with the felafel balls themselves, although they are much smaller than most places I've been too. A few criticisms: First, the guy who has been at the register the last couple of times I've been there seems like a complete idiot who gets overwhelmed by any amount of arithmetic. I would give him a few singles and then find a 10 in my wallet and try to take the singles back but instead he just calculated in the whole amount when there was absolutely no need to. He didn't rip me off but it was annoying and weird and he's done it more than once. Also, I only go here for takeout but I did actually sit down and order once and the service was fair. The place was basically empty but they seemed to take their time with everything, I had to try to get a check because we were being served by whoever noticed us... I give 5 stars because in terms of value and quality of food, I still haven't found a place that beats Olympic Pita. A laffa felafel is 7.60 and it is a huge amount of food, all of it delicious. read more

This place earns low marks in my book for bad service and small/overpriced food. I ate here on a date, and we were both shocked at the prices. The ambiance offers nothing, it is your typical middle eastern kosher fare, yet $45(w/tax and tip) only managed to get us a single kebab and small side dish each. I left hungry, would have been starving had it not been for the tasty lafah refills. our waitress ignored us the entire meal, and was sitting right across from us talking to the other employees for a good 15 minutes as we waited for the bill. Unfortunately they automatically added on for tip. Save your time, there's better food elsewhere in the area. And like others have said, don't even bother trying to park in this area. read more
