The Kokkinisto was the standout for me. The beef was incredibly tender and rich without being heavy, and the tomato-based sauce had that slow-cooked flavor that makes you want to keep dipping bread into it long after you're full. Their parking lot is tiny and a terror to get into while dodging other cars, would probably just park in the nearby residential areas on the street in the future. The staff is friendly and very accomodating. The prices are very good, and they have takeout. The seating area is not very comfortable, so we tend to pick things up and take them home. We have tried to Doordash our orders, but it's hard to make the adjustments we want online, and sometimes in person. But it's better coming in and eating everything fresh and warm. The meat had ZERO taste, the tomato was mushy, my boyfriend was so sad. My Gyro and Beef Kabob Plate though had flavor. The meat for sure was seasoned well, but the rice was bland, the side salad even with dressing was also bland. I think I should have known because the restaurant was filled with older, seniors that the food might have been under seasoned to be health conscious. Total it was $45 for these two, I had even tipped even though it was take-out but we didn't get napkins nor utensils with our to-go order. The location is convenient and they have a parking lot which is key in that area! The service was fantastic. The food came out remarkably fast. The flavors were light and tasty. My friend got the lemon soup and couldn't stop raving about it. I had beef and chicken kabobs and they were quite good. Given how quickly the food came out, it was obvious that the kebabs had been previously prepared, which is expected, but my only complaint would be that they could have been warmer. We ordered takeout but as felt a little fomo as soon as I stepped into the front doors because the vibe of this restaurant is absolutely immaculate. Warm, friendly, and comforting there were tons of families and friends gathered at tables having the most delicious looking meals. This truly looks like a long-standing, neighborhood gem. Everything we had was absolutely phenomenal: my husband is an avogolemno fiend and Olympic Cafe's version nearly put him in tears because it was so good. We come to Olympic Cafe all the time--it's honestly one of my favorite restaurants in San Diego. This place is such a hidden gem, and the sweetest family-owned spot.
