Family jewels is right. This increasingly rare gem-of-an-experience is fantastic! I had a hard to find want and another more common need for gifts - a little customization and tradition. Michael not only found the perfect items, but he educated the differences (very candidly) and welcomed my somewhat...uh, make that VERY indecisive status. His patience were splendid. And it didn't hurt to have HIS mother their too :-D She told me about the rich history of the family company. After we all talked, about life and jewelry or whatnot, I comfortably made my decision. BUT...ALL WAS NOT SETTLED - I'd forgotten that my (AMAZING BUT) very much an "early present peeking" wife would likely find the sparkles before surprise time. It was too many days to risk. And I'd found the perfect surprise. (this is the cherry on top) ...so get this...Michael and his mom insisted that I let them professionally wrap the set in their beautiful blue signature, high quality presentation. And they that they will be open everyday for pick up, encouraging me to come Christmas Eve for a toast with bubbly :-) From a guy who relatively recently went through the "wedding ring game" - I know what's out there for jeweler. And I WISH I'd known about Olympic Jewelers back then. For better or worse, it's because Michael and the family DON'T have aggressive marketing or frantic "quick sales". However, the necklace has since broken again. It cost $40+ to repair it the first time around. So, I called and spoke with the owner. Despite the sophisticated shop, it's photos and the beautifully curated jewelry, the owner, Michael, was so welcoming, there was no reason to attempt to go elsewhere. As I arrived near his time to leave, his mother, Giselle, continued on with our transaction. They were both honest, kind, generous and direct. It was more like going to your favorite Fancy-Aunt's house for dinner and discussing heirlooms, than hocking your goods at a pawn shop. I'm going to just jump right in. My girlfriend and I were visiting from Austin and she wanted to try on a vintage women's Rolex. I personally have bought, sold, and traded many so I it's safe to say I know a thing or two. I called various shops and finally found this place. The women that answered the phone was polite and answered all my questions swiftly. I asked if we could come check it out in which she said yes, to please come in. After asking her the price, she told me it was a little over $2,000. We were at the shop within 25 minutes of ending the call. When we walked in a gentleman greeted us. He wasn't rude, but he did do a once-over of my attire and paused at my Rolex. His eyes then lingered at my girlfriend's breasts... continuously. I was straightforward in telling him why we were there and thanking him for letting us see the watch in person. A stainless 26mm women's Datejust. The vintage was 2006 and it was in good condition with some wear and tear. After a few mins, I asked him what the exact price was. He replied $7,800. And silence. I almost laughed before realizing he was being serious. I said, I'm sorry but your employee said it was a little over 2,000. He replied with "Yea, she messed up and meant to say more but was confused." As he said this the women just kept her head down and didn't say a word. Moral of the story, we were lied to, and apparently if you're from out of town, 30 years old, and wearing a Rolex you're an idiot who must not know what they you are doing. The watch wasn't even worth 4K retail price in that condition and yet he tried to charge me double. Overall, a waste of time and a disappointment to say the least. read more

I took in my necklace here to have the chain repaired. I was given back a totally different chain (significantly longer, with the 14k original stamp pendant very obviously cut off and reattached). When I enquired about this I was called a liar. I wasn't asking for anything except the truth, if something had happened to my original chain I would have just liked to know. Since then I have taken the new chain to a few other jewelers who have informed me that the chain is likely not 14k gold. Through and through the most horrible experience at Olympic Jewelry. I took a treasured antique ring into this Fremont jewelry for repair in large part because of location ~ I am in the Queen Anne neighborhood. I found a small, charming family business with a welcoming atmosphere and and friendly service. My ring was easily cut off (I hadn't had it off my finger in over 10 years, and it had become a problem), and the repair was simple, and completed in less time than originally estimated. I was given a range in pricing for additional repair (the stone needed tightening), and it came in at the lower end of the estimate. When I picked it up, again I found a welcoming atmosphere ~ all in all, it was a pleasant chore, and I will definitely return to this jewelry shop for future repairs.
