It might feel like driving all the way into downtown Seattle and finding parking would be a major…read morehassle, but my experience with Seattle Diamonds made it totally worth it. TLDR: Erin at Seattle Diamonds was able to create a ring that NO OTHER JEWELER COULD, and she did it within my budget! Here is the full story of my ring buying journey and how Erin at Seattle Diamonds came through where no other retailer could. I always do my homework when making a big purchase, so I started off shopping around and hitting up all the major chain retailers like Shane Co. and Jared's, etc. My future fiancé an I picked out a 3 stone style that we absolutely loved. However, I noticed a troubling trend where the larger, center stone often looked shadowed and darker than the side stones. This really bothered me, however, I continued to be told that this was just how this style of rings would work. I then took my search online to Whiteflash, thinking that they could better help me match the diamonds and that would solve the problem. However, I was ALSO told by them that this was just the nature of these three stone settings, and I would just have to settle for the center stone looking shadowed if I went with this setting. My future fiancé and I talked it over and decided that we would go with a solitaire setting instead. However, this took us back to square one with ring and setting styles. This is what brought us to Seattle Diamonds and how we met Erin. From the moment we stepped inside, it was clear that this wasn't a normal retail space, however, it was a beautiful, high-end office and Erin immediately set our mind at ease. She was friendly and easy to talk to and really made us feel welcomed. She showed us many settings and picked out a beautiful solitaire setting. However, over the course of chatting with her, we mentioned the three stone setting that we loved and the problem we had with the center stone being shadowed. Erin was shocked that we'd had such problems as she'd never heard of this problem before. I couldn't stop thinking about her reaction, even after we left and eventually emailed her further about it. I decided to try one more time to see if I could make this ring style work. Erin was AMAZING! She found a beautiful setting that was within our budget. She brought in loose diamonds to try until we found ones that matched and didn't create that "shadowed" look. I was blown away. After that, I paid a deposit on the rings, and then waited. Erin emailed me a 3D rendering proof for my approval, which I gave because they looked amazing. Then it was time to wait. These rings aren't just cookie-cutter "I have a empty band and setting on hand and we just pop the diamonds in and go". They are quality made to order and take some time. As they say with the "unattainable triangle": You have quality, price, and speed. You get two out of the three-but never all three. I picked the rings up about three weeks after approving the proofs and they were absolutely stunning. I couldn't be happier and on top of that, I got to surprise my (now) fiancé with the ring of dreams rather than the solitaire setting we were settling for. My experience with Erin at Seattle Diamonds was amazing and I couldn't be happier. She made the impossible happen and did it all within my budget! Thank you Erin for such an amazing experience. I'm so glad we found you. 10 out of 10 would recommend!

My now fiancé and I scheduled an appointment with Mark Maceli at The Diamond Brokers in Downtown…read moreSeattle. Mark is a jewelry designer and spent a couple hours educating us on diamonds, their ratings, the diamond market, and the process he uses in designing custom rings (using a CAD program) for casting. Mark also explained that most ring sets bought retail are mass produced unlike the French Cut setting he was designing for us, custom cutting for each stone setting. I gave Mark a budget to include one wedding set- after tax. Mark selected a beautiful stone and designed an amazing set of rings that came within $16 of my budget. No up selling. Just a gorgeous wedding set with the best value solitaire for the budget I wanted. My fiancé has a beautiful engagement ring on her finger that compares to other rings in jewelers' cases that are priced substantially more. She also knows that her setting was designed for her and not mass produced. We did look at a few jewelers in Bellevue before scheduling with Mark. I'm glad we did. It gave us an idea of what retail rings cost and we got an idea of what we wanted. Of course those jewelers want to sell you something they have in stock that day. That was tempting for my girlfriend. But we are glad we waited the extra time to have something specially made. And I was glad to save 20-30% compared to what I figured I was going to end up paying at a retail shop.

I hate jewelry stores. They are bright and shiny used car sales lots. The sales people don't know…read moreyou, or me... or probably their own selves. The stones are mass purchased, the jewelry mass produced. The Diamond Brokers is not a jewelry store. I have had only two really good jewelry purchasing experiences and both of them were with Mark. From the very first contact, weather in person, by phone, or email, Mark makes it clear that your satisfaction in the piece he creates for you is his foremost concern. Mark educated me on the quality of diamonds, how he creates the piece, and how to work within my budget. There is no salesmanship, just the facts and a genuine will to create your perfect piece. Both of the pieces on my wife's ring finger are Mark's productions. The 1st, strangely enough, was her 10 year anniversary band. It is very special to my wife. The second replaced her wedding ring/band as she unfortunately lost the main stone. I'll spare this review the fine details, needless to say both ring creating experiences were great. Mark's attention to detail and communication with us throughout the process was consistent and informative. With Mark, you are not purchasing a piece of jewelry, you are participating in the creation of a one-of-a-kind piece of art that will be cherished by it's intended recipient, and likely generations to come. Thanks so much, brother. You are our jeweler for life.

They are the original jewelry store prior to everyone else. I have been doing business with them since 2006 after my fallout with another jewelry store in close proximity, who I was doing business for decades. I regret not doing business with this place originally. In my experience i would like to inform every yelper that if you are looking to buy gold for personal use or investment, Their Gold is almost as pure as a gold u.s. minted coin.....Please keep in mind i said ' almost ' There are other unique pieces besides gold and most ladies and men will quite frankly have a nice selection. They can even custom make any jewelry piece if you desire as well. Diamonds are a girl's best friend. Why not try here first, prior to the other big establishments, i am sure you will get a better stone at a much much better price. As you get buzzed in you will see a cute quiet old lady who have done business here in China Town for so many decades and had one simple philosophy. Treat customers right. Treat customers with honesty. Give customers the best deal possible and still stay in business. Yelpers I am slow to let you guys all know mainly because i wanted to ensure that I will be sending you to the best of the best. Of course i also wanted to keep this place a secret for myself. Yelp didnt exist til recently so there was no way for me to let anyone know vastly anyways. I hope you will heed my mistakes and learn from them just as i did. I hope you will cherish this place like I do. I hope that you will find something beautiful to bring home one day.

Higo is the original shop owned and run by the Murakami family. This is one of the few businesses that survived the Executive Order 9066 written in 1942 with thanks to the non-Japanese friends of the family who owned businesses in the same building. Today, Kobo represents a new generation of local artists, selling gift items, crafts, tees, books, art, jewelry, and much more at varying level of prices. I highly recommend Kobo when shopping for unique gifts. When I recently visited, they had a glass artwork on display, art gallery style. It was also the yearly Nihonmachi celebration, and they had a table outside with an artist painting one of three designs on classic Japanese windchimes. I was thrilled to buy one of these adorable windchimes commonly featured in anime including Studio Ghibli movies. The perfect gift for my feline-loving friends. The staff were happy to let you browse through the store, and you can tell that they work to include items from the local art and design community while also carrying items with wider appeal. The prices may be a bit high? But I was less concerned with the cost of the items than I was on finding quality gifts - and KOBO has those in spades. I'd certainly recommend a visit.

I took in a wedding ring crown that has 5 diamonds on it since I had lost one of the diamonds. Upon bringing it in, Josh let me know they could fix it and was already bagging it up without even giving a quote. I then asked for a quote since I'd gotten one from the original maker of the ring. I had let him know the quote he gave which was $390-425 was higher than what they quoted. But ultimately decided I'd rather have it fixed locally than send it out since I didn't want to wait (which I voiced verbally). He took a closer look and said they could do it for $425. I said okay because after shipping costs, it would only be ~$40 more than sending it to the maker. He said okay, and that he'd pick out the diamond today and I'd have it back the following week. 2 full weeks went by before it was ready so I was already a bit annoyed since that was likely the same turn around if I mailed it to the maker! But then when I went to pick it up, the price was $595+tax. I asked why the price difference (and refreshed his memory on our convo at drop off) and he just said okay we can do it for $495. So not only did it take just as long, but in the end after tax I spent over $100 more than what I would have spent if I sent it to the maker.
