I have worked with Tara on two separate custom rings now and hands down she is the only Jeweler I will EVER visit again. The first ring I ever purchased was my Fiancés engagement ring. With each visit I felt like I was talking to a sales person instead of someone passionate about helping me find the perfect engagement ring for my Fiancé. Having no prior background in ring shopping or gems/jewelry for that matter, Tara first took the time to explain to me the ring grading scale, the various cuts, examples of each and what the different grades meant in regards to price. While other retailers did the same, I found that when I would go back to the other Jewelers, it was either a different sales representative or they could not remember why I was there in the first place. None the less, Tara immediately got to work in sourcing gems for each of the letters in our names, with some personal gem requests from us as well. Again, throughout the process Tara would source the gems, bring us in for a show and tell, before finally letting us help layout the final design. My experience started with a simple call to Tara. I told her I wanted to do something special for my wife and two daughters this past Christmas. I was looking for a jewelry buyer for my 1 carat diamond engagement ring and saw that Tara gets unanimous 5 star reviews on yelp. I was naturally skeptical at first, however, having now sold her my ring, I am a believer. Prior to contacting Tara, I had emailed 8 other jewelry buyers in the Portland and Seattle areas. I sent a copy of the GIA grading report and a photo of the ring. This was not always easy as the online forms on many websites don't allow attachments. From the initial 8, I had one offer that I was truly comfortable with and of course it was in Portland. And then I heard back from Tara. She offered a competitive price - for purchasing the diamond it was the highest offer I got that I felt would not be a bait and switch. Other jewelers gave me an estimate but then hedged, saying well, only if there is no abrasion, bruises or chips that necessitate repair. Caveat: I had not worn the ring for over 10 years. During my appointment I heard about the business from Tara's point of view. How was she to know I was legally able to sell her this diamond? I could be just another shady character looking for a fast buck. She will pay either in cash or by check. I went for the check - I had verified her business license with the state of WA and felt comfortable with the check option. If I had consigned with Tara, I could have netted a few hundred dollars more, provided the diamond sold quickly. I have sold gold jewelry (Northgate) and silver coins (Crown Hill) before but never have I had a transaction of this kind that was so pleasant, so completely slime-free. My sister had a vintage ring repaired by Tara a few years back and was pleased with the results. I had bought my wife a ring from the 1930's that had been sized one too many times and the shank was all but gone. This caused the ring to spin on her finger and she was in constant fear that the ring would break. I had an awesome experience with Tara. I had to re-set my engagement ring (a family stone) because the white gold setting started causing an allergic reaction (I couldn't wear my ring at all - it was terrible!). I explained to Tara that I thought I needed a platinum setting, but couldn't afford to build or buy an entirely new ring. Tara worked with me (for MONTHS) to try to find a perfect platinum ring that I liked and that fit my stone. Finally, after something like 6 or 7 months, we found it. She sold it to me and set my stone for an extremely reasonable price. I was particularly impressed by the fact that one of the first rings that we found that seemed to fit the bill turned out not to be of the best quality, and she advised me to cool my heels for a bit longer (foregoing a sale for herself).
