Talk a walk ladies and gentlemen! Through the path you will find varied art sculptures littered throughout the park and best of all, it's all free! If you want to take a family date here or jog then you will enjoy the park. Aside from the sculptures, it's not really anything mind blowing or amazing. There can be good photo opportunities but you'll probably just spend about 20 or 30 minutes here because once you see most of the sculptures which will lead you down by the piers, there is nothing else really to do. If you do have many places to go, I'd suggest doing those over this park honestly. read more

A few awkward path links, but a nice stroll about at the north end of the waterfront downtown. Bring a dog, bring your bike and a book, and make sure to make it out to their Summer at Sam Thursday night events for food trucks, live music, and sunsets. A great stopping point to get away from Public Market crowds and the Seattle Center. Easy to get to by bus or on foot. A modern urban space w/ world renowned artists. What could be better? (Well, maybe a better Serra piece than "Waves", that could be better) Some of the best views of the Olympics can be had sitting around the Alexander Calder statue "Eagle"(?). Plus, there's this great industrial aspect to the park as freight trains pull in and out and shipping vessels pull into the harbor. I love it here. Grab a sandwich at Subway (Yes, honestly the best sandwich in the area) and a chair and sit down for a lovely lunch al fresco. Tip: Thursday nights in the summer they have a farmers market & free music. read more

This is a beacon in Seattle landscape architecture. It really takes advantage of its great location and is therefore a great art education tool. The park is just about the perfect size, too. It's a lot bigger than I thought it was, but that makes it more worth visiting. I'd say most people would take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour to walk through the whole thing and look at each sculpture. My favorite aspects: Quotes from each sculpture's artist on the meaning of the work Strategic planting to represent various regions of the Northwest and written explanations of this. I feel like you really can't complain about this place because it's free and takes very little time to walk through. However, its main disadvantages: Some of the sculptures have bird crap on them and I can't tell if they were indoor sculptures that were moved outside. It's impossible to see the typewriter eraser sculpture from a good angle. I can't find the name or the artist of my favorite sculpture anywhere in the park. (For those of you who have been there, the really big one in the valley.) read more

Honestly, the sculpture park was a little bit of a let down. Somewhat haphazard in design, the enormous, wide concrete stairs that rise up, up, and up again lead you to well...not much - a skinny strip of grass punctuated by giant orange traffic cones that are considered "art." Inevitably this park does not tank in my review because the views are impeccable. Perched right on the sound, adjacent from Pier 70, this little patch o'green was thankfully spared from becoming yet another condo complex. While the art is nothing to write home about, the stairs do give you some height above the stretch of waterfront, a great perspective for some panoramic photographs of our lovely sound. read more

Wanted to take a quick stroll around the city, going through Olympic Sculpture Park, and ended up staying there for quite a long time. The sculptures are cool, but the views of the Puget Sound, bike trail, and Olympic mountains from the park were stunning. It was a sunny day and I seriously could have sat on a hill taking in the sights forever. The park is free for visit. Definitely worth the trip. read more

A great park that is good for walking and resting and biking by it. It is always especially clean and safe and offers great views of the Sound. There isn't a whole lot of ground or things to do there, like a lot of parks in Seattle, but it is what it is and offers the city a retreat. They used to offer weekend free yoga classes there during the summer but I think that is no more which is too bad. They also have summer jazz nights on the lawn which are pretty cool!! read more

I'm not too into art, but this park is pretty neat. It offers a lot more than just the art...the nature and the views of the Olympics are really picturesque. You have to search for a lot of the pieces/sculptures. The first few times I went there I would see things I hadn't seen before. It's definitely grown on me A LOT. Plus after the park you can always take a stroll on the Myrtle Edwards park which is nice too! One of my favorites is the metal tree and I always love looking at the benches with the eyes...just so different and unique! You just have to be open minded when coming here! read more

I feel in love with this public art space along Seattle's sparkling waterfront the 2nd time I visited the city. I could get enough of the sculptures and art pieces scattered along the winding paths. Best of all this must visit Seattle-spot is FREE - for all to enjoy. I was however heartbroken to see that a year later this place has gone to the dumps. Random art pieces lay randomly among the weeds and dried grass. People bring their dogs here and just let them poo right by the amphitheater. What did they have enough money to build this place but not enough to maintain it?? The small indoor gallery has a nice cafe and seating inside to rest and ever-changing art installations. This is a place you can't rush through or else you will miss some eye-brow-raising art... that plastic lawn chair? Hey! Don't sit on the art!! That washing machine and dryer?? Yes, it's completely made of wood. Look at the bench and wishing well....does it spell: Love & Loss? Check out the beautiful stain glass bridge and the slightly-creepy eyeball benches! read more

This was a really cool and unique spot in Seattle - the park is expansive and has so many styles of sculptures. We were there on a sunny day(s) (we went there twice!) and it couldn't have been more perfect. We walked along the different tiers of the park, looking at the information about each sculpture. I loved that there were so many styles of sculpture art. No two were really alike and they were all thoughtful, engaging and larger than life. My favorite was probably the typewriter eraser because of it's size and surreal quality, but I actually liked every sculpture in the park. Definitely something to check out. read more

Points of General Awesomeness: #1: it is free #2 it has a fantastic view of the sound #3 the solid permanent collection and interesting temporary exhibits #4 lovely summer evening and weekend activities, and fantastic outdoor REMIX events #5 did I mention that it's free and open to all? The Olympic Sculpture Park is run by Seattle Art Museum, located on the border of lower Queen Anne and upper Belltown. The outdoor area is basically open dawn to dusk, with more limited museum-type hours for the pavilion which contains a temporary mural exhibit, food, gift shop and bathrooms. I'm a big modern art fan (and for the sake of full disclosure, I should probably say I'm kind of a huge snob about it due to my grad degree in art history), and I think their permanent collection is pretty good by Seattle standards. They've got some heavy-hitters like Calder, Mark di Suvero, Tony Smith, Louise Bourgeois, Ellsworth Kelly, Louise Nevelson, Claes Oldenburg and Richard Serra, as well as some more unexpected choices such as Teresita Fernández and Mark Dion. They also have surprisingly interesting and relevant temporary installations by contemporary artists (2013 features Sandra Cinto's "Encontro das Águas" in the pavilion and Heather Hart's "The Western Oracle: We Will Tear the Roof Off the Mother"). Aside from the art, Olympic Sculpture Park is also just a lovely space to go, walk, have a picnic, and enjoy a good weather day in Seattle. Over the summer, Olympic Sculpture Park hosts everything from yoga classes to dj dance parties as part of the SAM Summer series -- all of which are worth checking out. read more

what a great concept. put a sculpture garden right at the waters edge with large scale sculptures that have a gorgeous back drop of Peugeot sound. i loved strolling through this park. i had much appreciation for the layout of the land, the grading and contouring, use of retaining walls. i felt like there could've have been more sculptures, and i was not all that impressed by the foliage varieties. but overall it was a wonderful experience with epic views of the Seattle coast. **Why are so many people pissed off about the do not touch thing? Very impressive! Just walk about a mile north of downtown along the water front. There are several coves along the way to dip your feet on a hot summer day. The pedestrian overpass on the northern end of the park offers a commanding view of the sound, then dumps you into Queen Anne in striking distance of the Space Needle. read more

There was a park. There was open space. There were things in it. I love the fact that the park overlooks the water and piers. Good view. But that also describes a lot of locations in Seattle as well. Sculptures themselves were ok. Have been to too many cities at this point, perhaps, was a little disappointed with this park... expectations were a little higher. Found street parking which was cool. If I had known it was going to be such a quick run-through though, I wouldn've have fed the meter so many credit card minutes. They eyes/seats were neat; functional art with good design is always fun to come across. Missed out on the metal tree, but was too bored at that point to wander around to find it. Being March, slightly chilly, windy, and rainy, didn't experience any of the yelling-of-the-guards that other yelpers seem to have experienced. read more

I was quite disappointed by the SAM sculpture garden. I did like the layout and the architecture of the building, but I was bored by most of the pieces. I thought the stainless steel tree was nice, and eyeball seats cool, but i feel like i needed more. It seemed pretty sparsely populated by sculpture, and I just wasn't really moved (sorry Mr. Calder). I was actually surprised by this since both Frenchie and I had been goaded by separate Seattlites to see their cities public sculpture space. Oh, the little beach restoration was cool too. read more

This park has definitely given this area a little facelift, and it is nice to wander around and look at the sculptures. However, like many others, I was shocked that so many of these were hands-off. I was expecting part of the experience, especially for kids, would be to get up close and climb on some of the scuptures. Not only can you not touch the art, they don't want you to touch the grass! I think they should have called this an "Outdoor Museum" instead of a park. Lastly, I really thought that there would be more sculputres in the park...I found it somewhat sparce and oddly laid out. I wouldn't call this a must-see Seattle tourist stop, but if you're in the area, it definitely has some nice views and picture backgrouds. It might be a nice spot for a picnic, but I'm not sure if that's allowed! read more

Sculpture Park has another beautiful sunset in Seattle on the water. There's a great path that goes from the docks up through Magnolia. There wasn't as many sculptures as I had hoped but the sunset made it well worth it. read more

Oceanfront green space with outdoor art, a cafe, miles of running/biking trails, easy access to food and the city, and a great view? Yes please, don't mind if I do. And yes, it IS oceanfront in my humble opinion: it's water, it's salty, it's connected to the ocean. The new Thomas street pedestrian bridge over the railroad tracks will also make this place even more top-notch. Views of Mt. Rainier, the city, and the Olympic Peninsula (on a sunny day of course) are all waiting for you. read more

We had this place on a list of things to see in Seattle since it was free and we're not really art people. But we just stumbled upon it while walking from Pike Place to the Space Needle. The inside pavilion is just a nice place to keep warm in the winter, I think. It has normal hours, while the park I assume is open 24/7. But there's really nothing in there except one large piece of a guy with like the weight of the world or a machine on his shoulders. Anyways, outside we go and there are pieces of large art scattered all over. It's not crowded at all so we get to walk as freely as possible. There's people going for runs or walking their dogs or pushing their babies. And we even see a bunch of guys doing a photo shoot complete with those sun reflectors. Like I said, not really into art but I liked the stained glass and the eyeballs. But overall a pretty place to walk around. read more

Ranging from the father and son in the water fountain, to the two stone eyes that you can sit on, to the orange Eagle, to Bunyon's Chess (a lumberjack & steel concoction), typewriter eraser, and more. Some are interesting to interpret while others you may question the very idea of. It's a great place to hang out in for about a hour, but that will be as much time as you'll find yourself spending here. read more

Beautiful spot to take a stroll and take pictures. My mom and I walked here from the museum of pop culture. It was about 15 min walk and it was relatively easy to navigate. I love the center there because you can get a hot drink and use the bathroom if you have been out all day. There's a lot of seating areas in the park to really enjoy the view. Olympic Sculpture Park is very Helvetica. This park has a modern, clean-cut asthetic that made me revamp my impression of Seattle's urban style as a super-granola-ish, outdoorsy sock-and-sandal wearing feel (cliched as that is). It's pretty stylish. The park's winding, garden path helps seperate visitors from their urban surroundings but I really enjoyed the urban aspects of the layout: the ocean boardwalk, the gleaming white steel benchs, the funky orange chairs, the ampersand artwork, the bright silver metal tree. I was here on a sunny day at noon and tons of people were jogging along its paths, its definitely a nice respite while touring the city sights plus its free. Nothing beats free. read more

Area is scenic and clean. It's a great place to walk the dog and have an elevated view of Elliot Bay. I think it's a great way to feel like you stepped out of the city while not having to actually leave downtown. read more

I love this place I actually discovered it by accident one day, I was wondering around Seattle and had ended the Pier, I saw all these weird looking shapes sticking out of the ground. I ended up walking about and it as really neat to see everything that they had put together, after I have discovered and realized I was allowed to sit on some of the sculptors. I ended up watching the the boats in the little bay. It is also a great place to people watch and take it all in a sunny day or cloudy days. Its a good place to work out and get in shape, or discover all the art or just taking it all in and relaxing. Its a great place to go and I will be back! read more
