Doesn't look like much on the outside, but once you get past that you're in for something great! I'm from Kansas City and as I celebrated the Super Bowl win, I was craving good barbecue. I went in because it was quick and convenient, and I'm so glad I did. I ordered the brisket tips (burnt ends) sandwich, a Kansas City staple, and I was very impressed. I was in town for work awhile back and my meeting wrapped up early, so I started looking for somewhere local to grab lunch. When I saw Omahoma come up on Yelp I knew I had to try it, if nothing else, just for the unique name. After I parked about a block away and started walking over. When I was about a half a block away the smell of the smoker hit me like a brick wall. There were plenty of options, but I had my heart set on the pulled pork. Since they just opened up, I knew everything would be fresh, and there wasn't a single other soul in the restaurant yet. I had some mac & cheese, and sweet potato casserole for my sides and they didn't disappoint at all. It was some incredible comfort food. They had some seating available out in front of the restaurant, which was great for the beautiful weather we had that day. All of the staff was extremely friendly, and I got out of there for around $11. The next time I find myself in Wooster, I'll be making another stop through Omahoma Bob's for sure. read more

Everything is good here. It's your basic BBQ joint with flavorful meats and sweet tea. Bummer that they don't offer cornbread. Limited seating and you may wait awhile before you get your food if it's busy. I recommend ordering meat in bulk to go in order to avoid the wait. My parents and I decided to go to Omahoma Bob's for the first time and we were not disappointed. I got pulled pork with cornbread and sweet potato fries. It was really good and the BBQ sauce is the best I've ever had. My parents ended up liking it too. The service was nice and the place was very clean. Small town, northern BBQ gets a bad wrap. Mainly because those other places boil the crap out of meat and slop meat on a bun with BBQ sauce. Not Bob's. This place is totally legit. Meat is treated with such respect here. The brisket is tender and smokey and so well seasoned that it doesn't need sauce. The pulled pork is delicious. If it's on the menu, it's worth eating. I have been cooking BBQ on Big Green Eggs for over 10 years. I have been to Texas, lived in the Carolinas, Alabama, and so on. You get the idea. I love true BBQ and its hard to find in northern Ohio. Until now. I have eaten here 3 times and the latest was yesterday for lunch. This place is set up the way a BBQ place is supposed to be set up. Real smoke smell inside and out. Cheap tables and chairs, tablecloth, etc. Its actually a pretty upscale place compared to some of the places I have visited in the South. The food is outstanding. Like most southern or Texas style places they never seem to get the chicken right. At least this place makes it edible. I can't say that for most places I've visited over the years. Pulled pork is spot on. The real reason I will always keep coming back here is the brisket. It reminds me of the brisket I have eaten in Texas. Looks like it. Smells like it. Tastes like it. Succulent. Moist. Tender. Pulls apart easily with your fingers. Sides are outstanding as well. Beans are made here. With pork in it and has that wonderful smoke taste. Hush puppies are the best I've had since Alabama. Anyway. I'm a huge fan. If you want to try real Texas BBQ then this is the place for you. read more

Love. a bunch of coworkers were down in Wooster today and we had lunch at Omahoma Bob's BBQ and everyone is raving about how good it is. This was some of the best pulled pork i've ever had. the pork was smokey and had a perfect amount of sweetness (even without the bbq sauce). I also had the Red Beans and RIce as a side. It didn't look pretty - in fact it looked like it had already been eaten once* - but it was delicious. I also tried a hush puppy and that was wonderful as well. My wife and I had just eaten brunch at the excellent Tulipan Hungarian Bakery when we noticed Omahoma Bob's immediately next door. As she was hoping for us to have BBQ at least once on this trip, we poked our heads inside, and knew from the smell that smacked us across the face that, yes, this is the real deal, and where we'd have dinner. We returned later in the day Saturday and each ordered the same two-meat platter -- pork ribs and brisket. We weren't quite as boring on the sides, so we ended up with onion rings, hush puppies, french fries and steer chips. (Steer chips are their homemade potato chips, and were warm and crisp.) Both meats had the right zing, with the brisket particularly well-done. We find that brisket can be dry in some restaurants, but not here. Also, the onion rings weren't just good, but great. The place was packed, and not only with tourists, so it's popular with the locals, and many people were picking up take-out as well. If we ever return to Wooster, we'll return to Omahoma Bob's. And next time I'll try the smoked sausage and pulled pork, which also looked good, but hey -- you can't eat everything! read more

Seemed a smidge over-priced for what you get. But the food was good and tasty. And the staff was friendly. I had a brisket sandwich wrap with a side of fried mushrooms and a side of red beans and rice. Having spent the past few years in the South, the red beans and rice was nothing special or memorable. My friend had a prime rib sandwich, which he said was good, with no additional sides. The sides cost extra in addition to the sandwiches. For just the both of us, it cost $30. Bob carries Zapp's potato chips! And not just the regular kind, but Spicy Cajun Crawtators! I think I almost passed out when I saw the well-stocked Zapp's potato-chip rack. Haven't tried the BBQ yet, but the meatloaf sandwich is moist, spiced just right and very filling. (As a reference, a sandwich I couldn't finish, a bag of the world's most awesome potato chips and a glass of wine cost under $10.) Again, I don't know Bob all that well and my husband and I have only eaten there once each, but we've talked with him and guess that what makes the food really good is his experience in the meat business, as well as the fact that he has traveled and learned how to prepare well the non-native dishes he serves. The food is good, it's the service that's lacking here. The food really is 4 or 5 stars and the service is about half a star. I have no idea how it can take half an hour to serve potato chips and a pulled pork sandwich but they have managed to do it the last 3 times I have been in there. read more

This establishment is now called Omahoma Bob's BBQ but, as far as I can tell, it's still run by the same folks. I'd love to give a 4-star rating, but I have to dock them a star as my half slab of pork ribs was dry. The meat was tender and had a nice flavor but was surprisingly not juicy. A tangy, slightly sweet sauce, available in squeeze bottles at each table, salvaged the ribs. Bob's specializes in dry rub pork ribs but you can also buy pulled pork, chicken and sausage. Dinner platters come with two sides and they have extensive list of sides -- well beyond the usual fries and slaw. You can select from uncommon sides as hush puppies, fried okra, red beans and rice and Texas beans, a sweet and spicy concoction that includes chunks of their brisket. You can also get every meat on their menu made into a sandwich. When you enter, you walk to the back and place your order at the counter from a menu posted on a huge chalkboard on the wall. There's perhaps 12-15 tables inside and a few outside the front door. If you're looking for adult beverages, Bob's serves a decent selection of domestics and imports as well as few craft brews from Great Lakes and Magic Hat, to name a couple. Our first visit there and accidentally stumbled on this place and I am VERY HAPPY we did. I had beef brisket sandwich and it was excellent, moist and tender. My husband had smoked pork loin sandwich was also very happy. They have a nice selection of beers. They sell their sauce by the bottle, so good I bought 2. Not sure what all the hype is about. I lived in Wooster my whole life and have traveled to the south and had REAL BBQ. I'm not sure if my wife and I came at the wrong part of the day but the brisket was the most dry, bland meat I have had in a long time. I understand they are trying to emulate souther BBQ joints but little cups for the sides are not what I would expect for $12. And I could tell that my whole meal had been re heated. I looked forward to going here for a long time and finally talked my wife into it and I regret that decision now. Try it for yourself but if you around 5 pm the brisket will be bone dry. read more

After a family trip to the pumpkin patch we stopped in for a much needed dinner! We were absolutely famished and very excited for some bbq. The atmosphere was fantastic. A little hole in the wall, family bbq place! The staff was very friendly. Our kiddo couldn't make up her mind and the very nice lady taking orders was very patient with her. Food was cooked rarely quickly considering it was an hour before they closed. It seems almost everything is MTO, but meat is of course prepped early. I had a brisket sandwich and the meat was delicious. Sauce was ok. Portion Sizes for what we paid were a little small, but I would definitely go back. The staff definitely makes the place and they were so friendly they even offered our kiddos free suckers for being so well behaved. And let me tell you, that goes farther than food cost or quality. Outstanding pulled pork sandwich. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised when I stopped for a quick lunch. A nice location on the square in Wooster, and included some outdoor seating. I've been spoiled by my nephew taking me to the best barbecue places in Nashville, so good smoked flavors are requisite in my opinion. Omahoma Bob did not disappoint. The brisket was dry but tender and lacked flavor. The pulled pork was actually decent and moist. We are visiting from out of town. Read previous reviews and wanted to try with the family. Food was good . They close at 8 and we arrived at 720 with about 9 people. The food is quick serve so we knew they would still be able to serve. There isn't a waitress and you order at the counter which was great for such a large party and to make things go quickly. We were greeted like it was a burden that we walked through the door. They did not want us to stay. We even asked if they were able to still provide the items on the menu and they stated yes. There were two young ladies who were pleasant and trying to do their best. The older management or employees were very disrespectful. I have never met an establishment that would turn down business and am surprised by the behavior. We spent quite a bit of money and were out by 815. We even helped clean up. They basically pushed us out the door. They were NOT friendly or courteous. We will not return. read more
