Since new management took over - Bishop's has seriously declined. Prior management was bad - but this group makes even that guy look professional. Food is bland and no longer made in house - just a bunch of prepackaged product warmed up. the famous onion rings are now just poorly prepared and soaked in oil and the nutty muffit is garbage. Worst of all though is the attitude you receive from the staff. Unfriendly and disrespectful- obvious why they cannot keep any workers. read more

We were excited to try the reopened Bishop's and headed there for lunch. Unfortunately our experience didn't live up to our memories /expectations. Starting with the positives. Staff was very friendly and engaging and the appetizers were really good. We opted for the appetizer platter and enjoyed the fried pickles, pretzel bites, and mozzarella sticks. They all came to the table hot, the pickles and mozzarella sticks were crispy. We would definitely get them again. Our entrees included a grilled chicken sandwich, a Bishop's burger with fries, a cheeseburger with fries, and a Nutty Muffit with a 1/2 & 1/2 side. The chicken sandwich was good and would be ordered again. The burgers however weren't great, average at best and arrived at the table luke warm. The big disappointment though was the Nutty Muffit and the sides. The fries on all plates weren't hot and the 1/2 & 1/2 order included a whopping 2, yep just 2 onion rings!! This is Bishop's, where one claim to fame is the fabulous onion rings and there were only 2!?!?! As if to add insult to injury the Nutty Muffit wasn't warm, the cheese wasn't melted, the burger patties were really thin and the overall sandwich, even with the slaw was just dry. Really wanted this to be a blast from the past, reliving the original Cleveland Rd site and drawing us back for more but it didn't live up to those expectations. Perhaps we'll need to try again and hope for more of those rings! read more

Drove nearly an hour to try Bishops this week. Food was good, albeit cold because our server was busy not doing her job. It wasn't terribly busy so the service we received was uncalled for onion rings are good but I would have preferred them a tad crispier than they were. Server never offered any sauce. She also never checked back with us after a gentleman brought us our food. While I recommend the food, I can't recommend our server so that's why only three stars. So go for the food and hope your service is better than what we received during our visit. read more

Sloppy Joe sandwich is excellent. I would recommend it to everyone who likes a homemade style sandwich.

5 stars for Service. Excellent! As a professional Chef I was disappointed in the food. I will explain. First what was good: Onion Rings: big, beautiful and delicious! I ordered the meatloaf, mashed potatoes and green beans. Sadly the food was not hot, lightly warmed. Which tells me temps are not being taken. I should not have to say food is not hot. I get it, I work in the business I'm use to eating my food that way, I plate my meal then get side tracked with work come back to it, it's cold. But I do not expect that as a customer. This was my first time there so hopefully this was one of those days. Words to business, just make sure meal is hot, really makes a difference. read more

I wanted a diner meal and it was perfect. Nice and fresh, fast service. Very tasty. I wish I had room for dessert, the case looked lovely!

Tasteless. I tried to eat the chicken strips and fries, but they literally tasted like nothing. I ended up leaving most of the meal on the plate, paid and left. Honestly not sure they are worth the two stars I gave them, but maybe they have something there worth eating and I missed out on it. read more

Bishops has been a staple especially for the baby boomers. I made it through my 20s on Nutty Muffins and banana cream pie. Since I have moved back my husband and I frequent the new bishops, Nutty Muffins just as good. ( I'm allergic to beef, but I made an acceptation ). The food and I have a lot of stories about the old days at Bishops. The owner is retiring and selling this iconic drive in. Wow - what happened to this restaurant? Management- please re-train your employees on proper food handling. This evening, your young man was wiping down tables then making house salads WITHOUT washing his hands, then taking them over with soup and other items - could have used a tray to set those items on and deliver. The young girl who was making my salad had taken a glove off to cash a customer out, then turned around and proceeded to make my salad. The other gloved hand was being used to open doors to grab items. As she was laying my salad down, I asked her to make another one as she did not follow sanitary conditions . She had the nerve to tell me she used the gloved hand to prepare my salad. Since when does the employee argue with a paid customer???? read more

Food was great as usual. Prices have gone up like crazy. A slice of apple pie was $4.89. Smothered chicken breast was $12.99, use to be $8.99. I know inflation is here but when inflation and food costs come down, you have to lower your prices. Looking for a new restaurant. read more

Okay this is not fine dining and if you want to review it that way, you need to readjust yourself. This is just simply a Wooster Icon that still stands the test of time. It is no longer a drive in (which I do miss badly) but the food is exactly the same, From he famous Nutty Muffet to the amazing onion rings, this satisfies that craving you will have if you are a true Wooster native. I always get the exact same order too. The staff are very friendly and the restaurant is quite comfortable too. The sign says, "Bishop's Fine Food". Don't show up in your Sunday best. It's a burger joint. The have good onion rings, but be warned...eat just a few otherwise you will have the worst stomach pangs ever! The burger has a very sweet flavor to it. From my other reviews, you know I'm not a huge fan of sweet foods, unless it is a dessert. The tomato was probably an 'Early Girl' or something like that. It just added too much sugar to the burger. For less than $10 my wife and I got enough food to sustain a small country for a day. Between the two of us we probably had 20 onion rings with our burgers. read more

Food - very greasy, order was incorrect and served cold fries. Ambiance - somewhat like a diner feel ...four stools at the front but had wooden chairs in the dinning area Sevice - Pretty weak. There was one cashier (using an IPAD not a register) along with two people over by the ice cream that were not very helpful at all. Crowded (during lunch) people seems anxious and not extrememly friendly. The only nice person that worked there was Devin. He rushed to and from the dining room, took orders, called up food, and placed orders. He was the only working that I heard say have a great day or ran food out to the people who were all waiting. Suggestions: install two registers (at least) Have a hostess during the lunch hour discourage families with two people from sittting at the table for 8 and taking all day to leave. We arrived at 12:15 and did not get our food until almost 1pm. The layout seemed like it had potential..I tried the onion rings...they were decent. My burger was probably frozen and so were the fries. The menu should be accessible while you are waiting (nobody offered) I would encourage discounts to Wooster students I saw students and folks from the community and it seemed like such a tense relationship between the two. Two stars - one for the nice employee (Devin) and one star because it seemed clean. I would not return or suggest any college students or visiting families to check it out. read more

I was born and raised in Wooster and remember Bishop's from the time I was a little kid. I'm not sure why people are complaining the food is greasy. It's an old school burger diner, why go if you want health food? If you want a great burger and great onion rings, go here! If you want a low-fat salad with no cheese or dressing because you're afraid you might gain an ounce of weight, don't go here. It's that simple. Going here expecting to get either a 5 star dinner or health food is the equivalent of going to a Mexican restaurant expecting to get a great Chinese meal, it makes no sense whatsoever. As for the place being busy, this place has been a staple place for great burgers in the Wooster area for 60 years. They closed a couple of times and switched locations a couple of times. They just reopened after being closed a few years, what do you expect. If you want a crappy burger and only want to wait a few minutes for it, go to one of 3 McDonald's in Wooster. You have to wait on good food, especially when they're as popular as Bishops and have just reopened. I've eaten burgers at many places all over the country. While I can't say they have the best burger ever, they are within the top 5 I've ever had and they do have the best, and I mean the absolute best, onion rings I've ever eaten anywhere, bar none. read more

Most of the reviews mention how good the onion rings are. I agree with that portion of the other reviews but little else. Preformed chicken strips, thin burgers lacking in flavor, prepacked fries, not much to speak of. I'm not sure if the local ratings skew the reviews high but there are much better burgers out there.
