The seating hostess promptly and politely greeted and seated us. My husband and I wrote down the flavors and quantities of sushi that we wanted. The sushi chef provided very good service with making and serving our sushi and with checking in with us. We ate the salmon, crab, yellowtail, scallops (my husband's favorite!), toro, baked crab, and lobster. The total price was $100. Felt more like an SF restaurant vibe than Miami. It's all bar seating so good for solo dining or for parties of 2 or 3. If you have a large group, it's not the ideal spot. Came for a quick lunch and was pleasantly surprised! I got the OMA which includes 4 hand rolls. I also got the lychee and cake batter mochi. Everything was really good! My favorite was the blue crab handroll and the cake batter mochi. Something to note - This is the type of place you come with no more than 1-3 friends or alone because its bar seating only. Not great for a group. I was solo and it was nice because you dont feel awkward since there are others around who are also dining alone. Nice spot in downtown Miami! Very unassuming from the outside but the interior has a beautiful minimalist Japanese wooden design. It's a huge narrow bar seating which creates an authentic vibe. Only no real backrest on the seating if that's an issue for you. Seating was easy without a reservation and it filled up as I was there. Service was average. I felt the prices per what you get reasonable and you have good options. The food itself was tasty, albeit a little on the saucier/ maybe not as healthy for you side. I've tried several of the OMAKAI locations around town - but was so excited to try the new hand roll bar! Unlike other types of sushi, you really can't truly enjoy a hand roll from a delivery service and eating it truly fresh is the best way! My husband and I recently came and tried one of their preset menus; with five rolls, we were already pretty full - my personal favorites are the blue crab and bay scallop rolls! However, we still opted to try a few of their speciality rolls, like the sea bass and lobster. Overall, the happy prices are great, service is spot on, and I appreciate the paces courses! read more

That said, I have to knock off a star because the green onions completely overpower the flavors--a little goes a long way, and here, they were way too much. Also, their hand wipes are just not it. A small detail, but the cheap wipes bring down the whole premium experience. If they upgraded to those tiny hand wipes that expand in water, it would seriously elevate the overall vibe. There was definitely a bit less than usual. Service was good and we were in and out within 35 minutes. so fast!! and they were full during the lunch hour rush. Also note that I've learned since coming here is that I don't care for the albacore roll! Not for me, or my mom. It's like a weird smooth texture and just a no from us but some people like it. I was so excited to try this new hand roll bar, since I love the original Omakai spots. This location is right around the corner from all the popular restaurants and bars in Brickell so it's very easy to get to. The atmosphere is very clean and modern and it is counter top seating throughout the entire place. You are able to see the staff and chefs making the rolls from every seat and it's very accessible if you want to order another roll or get someone's attention. I went relatively early for happy hour, which begins at 3pm and it wasn't too crowded. It started to get more packed towards 6pm. The staff were extremely attentive and friendly. The menus were easy to read and it was very quick to ordering your food and then you were served almost immediately. There is flexibility on when you can order and how much, so depending on how you feel, you can go at whatever pace you're comfortable with. I enjoyed all the rolls, of course, but my favorite were the bay scallop, negi toro, hamachi, and salmon. I did try a couple of the specialty rolls which were tasty, but I think staying simple may be the move here. Some of the specialty rolls are doing too much and the prices are a little inflated. There wasn't a single one I didn't like, but if I had to choose the bay scallop and the blue crab rolls stood out based on how unique the flavors were. The handrolls are made fresh in front of you so that the seaweed is still crunchy when you eat it. And it must be mentioned that the staff and chef making the rolls were so fun to talk to during the meal and the way the bar is set up makes it a great communal space. The traffic never easy to go there however the place offers valet parking at 20$. Micheal the valet guy was very amazing. He is super helpful and friendly when we asked for directions. The Omakai handroll bar is great for a quick and delicious meal. The service and staff, however, leave much to be desired. I've visited various times and I've yet to receive good service. The hostesses couldn't be more indifferent. On one visit I stood at the hostess stand for several minutes while the hostess engaged in conversation with a server. The servers are indifferent at best, often socializing instead of doing their main task of ensuring customers have a beverage. They also have a dumb policy on accommodating allergies. I'm allergic to a specific fish and they'd rather sell less than just not give you the handroll you are allergic to in the omakase. It just makes zero sense and leaves a bad taste unnecessarily. It should be such a simple thing. Omakai just seems to be growing too fast and they're not fully maintaining the standards that made their Wynwood location such a success. I hope they are able to absorb their growth without damaging their brand. read more

My favorite place in Brickell! Came on a solo date here on a Friday night, and it was jampacked. Luckily, there was a little seat in the corner. They were able to see me at right away. One of the chefs recognized me because I come so often and he even gave me a yellow tail hand roll on the house. How lucky am I? This place is so great because you're in and out in 30 minutes if you want to be, or if you want to sit and chat a little, you can probably stretch it to an hour. But it's really not a place for spending a long dinner. The hand rolls are stuffed to the brim and the deluxe is more than enough to fill you up for dinner. The experience is good too for the sashimi, but weirdly, the lobster roll isn't my favorite and i love the albacore roll so the deluxe is the way to go for me personally. Blue Crab Hand Roll- 9/10 Nice clean taste and I'm glad it wasn't tossed in mayonnaise . Albacore Hand Roll- 7/10 Fresh taste but it was dark in color. This is a bit sweet for my liking. Bay Scallops Hand Roll- 7/10 The bay scallops were a great size. These were tossed in too much mayonnaise. Negi-Toro Hand Roll- 10/10 Fresh clean taste. This roll was just missing some ponzu like sauce to dip into. During my visit I did notice it to be a little louder than other omakase hand roll bars. We ordered Maine lobster hand rolls, bay scallop hand roll, negi toro hand rolls, veggie hand roll, and also ordered toro-miso hand roll, unagi cucumber hand roll, OMAs that were not on the happy hour menu and a hot sake carafe. I did not care for the veggie hand roll. We all liked the negi toro rolls. The protein is fresh and you can ask for less rice if that is the preference.
