    Ropa Vieja Jibarito
    Lauren F.

Omar is the nicest guy, and I'm glad I stopped by this spot. The ropa vieja in my Jibarito was so flavorful, and I loved the garlic sauce. I didn't love the dough for the empanada, but you can't go wrong with guava and cream cheese. I also had to try the passionfruit parfait. The only thing that threw me off was all the seeds - I felt like my mouth was full of seeds the whole time. There is tons of outside seating, my food came out fast, and service was fantastic. All in all, I would definitely come back for the jibaritos (and a plate of that ropa vieja!).

I had such an amazing experience at Omarcitos today. I stumbled across an IG reel of this food spot, and I immediately knew I had to check them out. The cafe has such an interesting set up. You order from what appears to be a food truck, and there is an outdoor (open concept) and indoor seating. We ordered the steak sandwich and ropa vieja plate. The steak sandwich was DELICIOUS. The bread was crispy, and the meat was flavorful and juicy. The sandwich also paired so well with their garlic side sauces. The Ropa vieja was also so insanely yummy. The beef was so juicy and savory. The garlic rice was also so yummy. I'm not a huge fan of plantains, but the plantains were actually pretty decent! Overall, I had an excellent experience at Omarcitos. I cannot wait to come back once it gets warmer!!

Had been dying to try this place and it did not disappoint! The staff, including Omar himself, were extremely friendly & helpful with the menu. I felt like I was walking into my family's house the way they treated us! The ropa vieja jiberito was to die for. Such an amazing blend of flavors and textures. The plate was great too. The garlic sauce and green spicy sauce really enhanced the flavors too. An amazing blend of everything that makes Latin culture great. Went on a rainy day, but the patio seemed like it would be so nice on a sunny day. I will be back!

We have been wanting to try this place since our daughter moved to Logan Square over 3 years ago. But the hours never matched up with our visits. She and her partner raved about it. We finally made it yesterday. The food was freakin AMAZING! There was a line but it moved quickly. Plenty of outdoor seating and some covered patio type seating. Agua fescas and ropa Viejo are highly recommended. Customer service was quick and very polite and helpful. I had a small amount of leftovers to take home but wished I'd ordered more to go so I could have more of it.

Reputation speaks for itself. Delicious food, unique high end service, and for shockingly reasonable price. Loved our meal and will be back! Food: beef and pork were our favorite meats. Wasn't crazy about the catfish. Sandwich bread was better than the jibarito. Wish I would've gotten at least one plate to try the rice. Sauces are fire! Drinks: cafecito is money Service: Omar makes you feel like a special customer even if it's your first time there. Thank you!

Easily one of the best casual lunch spots I've tried. Omar is incredible! So welcoming, warm, and genuinely helpful. He guided us through the menu, made great recommendations, and you can tell he really cares about giving everyone an amazing experience. The service felt top tier because of him. The food was simply the best. The standout was the steak sandwich. It looks like your standard sandwich, but the flavors are wild rich, balanced, and way more elevated than you'd expect. The Pollo Adobado was a close second. The chicken was unbelievably tender and paired perfectly with the delicious yellow rice. The sweet plantains were great too, actually sweet, soft, and cooked just right.

What a gem. Omar is an absolutely electric guy and the food is top notch. Steak jibarito a little messy but delicious and the ropa vieja sandwich was flavored to perfection. Can't wait to come back in warmer weather.

Outdoor patio area. Ordering counter. Service area.

If it's your first time, don't be shy walk up close and introduce yourself. Omar will want to know your name! Cash is king, digital payments of all kinds available but everyone appreciates cash and there's fewer fees. Best of its kind. Bring friends. There's some indoor seating all year. No weak points.

Jibaritos! Every time my bf kept saying I needed to try these, I thought he kept saying he-burritos. So my mind is expecting burritos hahah. But WOW. What an experience! They are a style of sandwich that is bursting with flavor. A balance of sweet and savory perfection! I tried the family favorite Fish Jibarito! Everything about this item... the tomatoes , the crispy fish, the everything! It's nothing like I have ever tasted before! 10/10 for me! Omar, the owner, is so kind & patient! This man and his team is working hard to serve everyone. We were in line for quite some time, and when we got to the front, Omar greeted us , learnt our names and carefully took our order. You can tell he cares about his business and his people! After we sat, i noticed The line that was behind us kept growing and growing! If its your first time, like it was for us, patience and excitement is key! The wait is WORTH IT. They also had some music playing & a DJ, so dance while you wait!

Finally got around to trying this place and it's sooo good! Got two different jibaritos. I forgot the names but one came with shredded beef and the other with pulled pork. Both were delicious but the shredded beef one was better. The fried plantain was super crispy and you can tell the sandwich was made fresh. I've had jibaritos y más before and it's hard for me to decide which place I like better. Super friendly staff and the owner is very personable!

We had the most delicious lunch with fun vibes, nice art and music. Loved their green spicy sauce! Everything was packed with flavor, my husband said it was the best empanada he ever had. Service was fast and friendly. I bought some sofrito and garlic paste to take home. Will definitely be back

My partner and I loved our experience. Notably, the indoor seating space felt extremely inviting, inclusive and warm. Between the delicious food, colorful artwork, vibrant plants and super-dope track-list, we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. We highly recommend.

Pleasant surprise especially based off the fact this was rated so highly by "infactuation chicago". Sure the elements were all to blame but like most LATAM cuisine the dish was definitely upgraded once I added the provided sauce which is to my knowledge the garlic paste. Texture of the pork was akin to a shredded pork. Quite hefty for a breakfast sandwich but delicious nonetheless. Guava cheesecake was equally impressive

Learned that the stew express meals mentioned on their website are no longer available. Update the website then? The stews with two sides are still available but their pricing has more than doubled and portions are small like lunch specials. I wonder if dining in is why most reviews are five starred. Need to try that way sometime. Ordered two stew meals. Lamb (awesome that they offer this protein) & chicken. Lamb was properly stewed and easy to eat. The chicken was boring in flavor and hardly any gravy was included. Smh. The carryout container has three sections. One for the "main" and two sides. Alas, they fill the main section with a big ass amount of rice. Then fill the side areas with stew and your second option. Stews are in the $22-26 range. They have to reconsider how they're serving. I mean, stew needs its gravy to go with all that rice and the portion should be significantly larger. Due to the niceties of their staff and the flavors, I'd check them out again. Dine-in.

So our server stated that our first-choice food selections were not available (steak jibarito and beef arepa) so instead we then ordered empanadas (one beef, one shrimp) and the chuleta valluna. We noticed that the kitchen was slingin' some massive plates of food, so we decided to split the one entree and the empanadas. Well the server comes along and says they are out of shrimp empanadas. How can a restaurant be out of so many food items when it is barely past 1PM? We decided to do just the single entree and the single empanada. I also ordered a can of Inca Kola (good stuff, though I had to beg for the drink after our food was served), and we did get some ice water. The beef empanada was AOK, not bad. The chuleta valluna features a massive flattened breaded pork chop along with many items (rice, fries, yuca fries, tostones, yellow potato, salad). The menu mentioned this dish would also have sweet plantain, but perhaps the yuca fries were a sub for the sweet plantain. I gotta admit, the food overall is pretty good. The service from the staff was pleasant, but there was always something "off" during our dining experience. When the bill came, we were charged for the shrimp empanada that was not being served, so we had to ask for a corrected bill to deduct the missing empanada. Overall we had extremely mixed feelings about our lunchtime here. Perhaps it was just a super busy day here, but I am feeling overly generous with my three-star review.
