I got the Italian sandwich with banana peppers. It was very good, spicy salami, salty ham, fresh vegetables. The bread was very good too! My partner got the omertà, he said it was good, very fresh but having more than 1 half of it was too much. So it appears it was filling. This establishment been on my list for a while. I decided to grab a sandwich for lunch during the week. This establishment is a liquor store, taproom & sandwich bar all in one. The taproom and sandwich bar are combined. The liquor store is separated. On this occasion, I ordered the West Sider which comes with 9" sandwich with lettuce, tomato, onion, haus dressing, garlic mayo, oil and vinegar, turkey, pastrami and Swiss (subbed for provolone). I added banana peppers but it was a costly waste. Overall my sandwich was good but pricey. Out the door $17 bucks for cold cuts is too pricey for me. I probably will have to just make my sandwiches at home but it was a nice treat on this day. My west side sandwich was good. The meat and cheese were fresh and the accompaniments were nicely prepared. I like how they shredded the lettuce and how finely the tomatoes were sliced. The bread was fine but wasn't anything special. Overall a nice business in the neighborhood, they had some seasonal coffees in their cafe menu that looked tempting. I got the custom 9 inch with turkey and provolone and only added mayo, I got the garlic and haus sauce on the side since I was doing delivery and didn't want the bread to get soggy! I first visited this spot a few years ago and tried The Westsider, was immediately impressed and so glad to see they are still up and running, thriving and have expanded their menu/offerings with plenty of seating/tables for a cozy coffee shop feel. This sandwich shop never disappoints!! Hands down my go to sandwich fix for love or any sub craving! The beast and the haus Turkey sub is my fav, add the garlic Mayo, it's amazing. The servings are huge, they're not cheap on the meat. It's worth every Penny. The west sider and the Italian are also great! Pasta salad is pretty good but the subs are all stars! This time, I straight up did not like my sandwich even though it's the same one I got the first time. We paid $40 for 2 sandwiches because we were lazy and got delivery. Included in that cost was an extra $3 for banana peppers and we barely got any. There was also barely any meat on the sandwich and it just wasn't my favorite. It's a nice touch and they also have seating outside facing Humboldt Park as well. It's no frills and the staff is nice. One of the best parts about this place is the fact you can get a meal for $15-20 and be full. Also, I noticed a "stale" bread comment in a review. I've never had that and I've ordered from here plenty of times. Their bread is pretty good, it's a little more firm and it's like a crusty French bread, a nice break from the soft sub roll sandwiches at other spots. My boyfriend highly recommended this place so of course I had to order some delivery on a weeknight after a long and busy week. It was difficult to decide which sandwich I wanted and he mentioned that many people he knew liked the west sider, so of course I had to give that one a try. We both ordered that sandwich and when I also saw that there was a peanut butter snickers pie, I figured that wouldn't hurt to try either. :) Delivery was fast and the sandwiches arrived wrapped carefully. Every ingredient tasted fresh, sprouts were crisp, and bread was perfectly fluffy! We've been doing everything in our power not to completely devour the pie in one sitting because it's so delicious. I wondered if it would actually be a little *too* rich because of all the ingredients being so sweet, but surprisingly the combination of these ingredients really make for a unique and not overly sweet dessert. Depending on how I feel that day, there's a sandwich for it. My top sandwich right now is the BLVD. it has corned beef and roast beef. The Italian is good as well. The beast is a beast with the meat. Each sandwich comes with potato salad, pasta salad or coleslaw. They also have adult beverages available to order which goes great with a sub. Give this place a try...you're going to love it.
