I can't imagine having my wedding without EJ. She is so kind, professional, responsive, reliable, meticulous, talented and thoughtful. With very little direction aside from my request for something "natural" and "dewy," EJ brought out a perfect look that enhanced my natural features and stayed on the whole day! My face had started breaking out the day before my wedding, but no one would have known with how flawlessly EJ covered my skin. She did both my makeup and hair beautifully with the utmost care--all while being incredibly efficient (with her and her assistant finishing makeup for the bride, groom, and two others in only about 3 hours--all happy with the end result). Throughout the wedding, EJ was flexible, patient and attentive, moving her equipment between floors of the venue for touch-ups and fixing people's hair/clothing right before the ceremony. When I had my final touch-ups and a quick hair change before the dinner reception, EJ was again incredibly efficient, finishing her updo and the makeup in only 15-20 minutes so that we could maximize the time spent with our guests (and despite her speed, the updo still lasted me the entire night of dancing without any loose hairs). In my wedding search, I looked far and wide for NYC makeup artists who have experience with Asian brides, and EJ was hands down the most reasonably priced MUA for the experience she brings/quality of service she provides. EJ and her team are truly the best. If you have the opportunity to work with her--do it!!!! I'm honestly pretty helpless when it comes to hair and makeup, but EJ was able to take my vague ideas and turn them into something beautiful. I first met with EJ for a trial at her studio. I showed her some photos and explained that I don't know much about what makeup / colors look good on me. EJ was incredibly patient and tried out a few different eyeshadows and lipstick colors so I could see what I liked best. Ultimately, my trial hair and makeup came out perfectly--it looked and felt natural, which I think is a pretty incredible feat. I knew I was wearing makeup but it didn't feel like I was; it didn't feel caked on at all and was even easy to wash off at the end of the day. On my wedding day, EJ and her team arrived early and quickly got to work reorganizing the suite to be able to work on 3 women's hair and makeup at a time. They were incredibly efficient but also thoughtful and detailed--all of my bridesmaids were amazed at their hair/makeup and everyone looked photo-ready until the wee hours of the morning. EJ did my wedding hair and makeup herself and I have never felt so beautiful. I was particularly impressed because I had chopped off about 10 inches of hair in between the first time I met EJ and my wedding day, so she had to do a totally different hairstyle than what we did at my trial. I showed her a few photos of what I was envisioning and she was able to create a glam but functional look. I think my overall look was a combination of natural makeup and glam hair, and it worked perfectly. My hair stayed in place all night despite tearing it up on the dance floor, and my makeup remained flawless all night despite crying throughout the day. It was incredible.
