Best CrossFit in North Dallas! Omega has a close-knit community of members, a variety of interesting equipment, a bunch of class times and great programming. It's $130 a month for unlimited CrossFit classes, which is much cheaper than other places nearby. I always look forward to my workouts at Omega, and they're usually posted online the night before. The coaches are passionate and fun and have great taste in music (for the most part). During the Open, we had a huge group for Friday Night Lights and it was super fun. As a female, I couldn't ask for a better group of women to work out with, too! So glad I found this place last year. read more

After finishing giving karate lessons to Chuck Norris today, I decided it was time to hit the gym to retain my Greco-Roman god-like physique which brings tears to the eyes of every woman in the Western Hemisphere. Unfortunately, the average globo-gym doesn't do it for me, as it is generally overloaded with truly out-of-shape juicers and et al. douche bags who like to look at their fake tans while flexing in their spandex outfits. Friends, I thus come to you with a succinct and crisp review of Omega Cross-fit in Plano, TX which is honestly the better alternative to the inferior, globo-gyms.. I will preface this by saying that Omega gets my official and very rare stamp of personal endorsement. Here's what you need to know... PROs: - The quality of the clientele here is A+ and they do a fine job in creating a sense of community which is atypical for most fitness joints. A+ as in nice, down-to-earth people--many with families and correct priorities. The gym is male and female-friendly, and you will not find douche-bags here--quite refreshing. - Challenging programs and quality instruction which will push you to improve your limits without causing injury or pushing you "the wrong way." I've seen other cross-fit gyms which try to force squares into circle only to injure the hell out of their clientele--often serious injuries. Omega does not do this... you are challenged to work as hard as you can without feeling alienated for being less than an Olympian. - Excellent equipment/facilities. Everything you need to enable you to reach peak fitness is here... I was also impressed to see integration of online performance tracking... - Attractive pricing and multiple schedule options which work for people who actually have careers/families. CONs: - Honestly, I do not have any criticism to share other than the fact that I was disappointed that they did not have 4,000 lbs kettle bells which are what I use for my Turkish get-ups. Bottom-line, Omega is a fantastic place which I would recommend for anyone who is serious about fitness or improving their overall fitness. Before Omega Crossfit my workout routine would go something like this: Walk into the big globo-gym, pop on my i-pod, jump on the treadmill (or stair-master if I'm feeling adventurous), and maybe toss around some light weights (but probably not because that is the "guy area" of the gym)....basically walk in & walk out with limited human interaction despite being there for hours. Thankfully Omega has offered me an alternative. Now I walk in the gym and I'm greeted by the friends I've made- the people I workout with, hangout with, and cheer on at the end of a grueling workout. I have coaches who are knowledgeable and push me outside of my comfort zone without pushing me to injury. The workouts are never boring, always challenging, and sometimes just plain ass-kicking. But no matter your skill level or age or gender every workout is scalable to your level of fitness. Plus, no one is going to look down on you or make you feel out of place for not being able to do certain movements or lift certain weights....everyone has been there! Just come in, do your best, and leave your ego at the door....and the funny thing is when you just come in and give it your best you QUICKLY see the results!!! I know it can often times be intimidating as a newcomer to jump into such a tightly knit group but that is not the case at Omega- as the gym continues to grow newcomers are always welcomed in and that culture of community & positivity remains intact. Crossfit is definitely one of those workouts that I don't feel that I'd shell out moolah monthly to attend...but I always love going to try out a session! The trainers here know their stuff (and look the part!) They have come out to where I do my training runs at Luke's Locker a few times and have showed us the ropes! I loved doing the box jumps! They were super hard. They show you correct form as well to help prevent injuries. With a hardcore workout like that I would think that is pretty important! It's definitely worth checking out and I should mention that Arbor Hills is right around the corner--you can mix it up and throw in a run on the trail afterwards! read more

I was in town for work and wanted to go to a local CF box in the area. I emailed the gym and Eric, the owner replied right away with all the necessary info. I went to workout on Tue 1/12 at the 6:30am class. The coach came and introduced himself and the athletes were nice and welcoming. Dropped into this gym while traveling for work. I've been doing crossfit for 4 years. Great facility but the coaching was unacceptable. I think the coach might have been filling in a gap of available coaches, but first impressions are important. Any owner should know that canceling a class is better than risking the health of students. I'm positive our coach didn't have a crossfit certification. Her technique seemed to be "made up" and she referred to the women's barbells as weighing 33 pounds, even after I said "did you mean 35 pounds?". We had power cleans in our workout and the coach never used pvc pipes to discuss technique. We had two new students in class that have only been doing crossfit for 2 weeks and they were using very heavy weights. And had never cleaned before! It was hard to watch, knowing how easily they could have pulled a muscle, etc. Message to owner: safety first, everything else comes second. If I wanted to lift heavy weights without coaching, I would pay $10/month at globogym. I love crossfit and believe most of them are wonderful. I hope you guys get fully staffed with certified coaches. read more

I started at Omega Crossfit about 3 years ago after years of not doing anything but sitting behind a desk. To say I was out of shape was an understatement. Fast forward to today, I can say that I have a good understanding of the right technique of the movements and can perform most of them competently. The reason for that is solely due to the coaches and the people at Omega. I have never encountered any of the issues that people often reference as the negative side of Crossfit. I still scale most of the workouts and this is supported by the coaches. The emphasis is on making sure that the technique is correct and safe, not the amount of weight that I can throw over my head. Aside from workouts that will kick your butt regardless of your level of fitness, the big reason that Omega is great is the people, including the coaches and members. It truly is a family. read more

Best gym in town. I have tried a few other Crossfit gyms first before coming here. The staff here does it right. They ensure you have proper training and basics down first before jumping into classes. The instructors are always patient and willing to explain in detail. What is most refreshing is the staff's dedication to the client - they ensure the place is clean and even more important, ensure their clients are doing the exercises with proper form. I signed up as a way to improve upon my triathlon training with the goal of developing a stronger core. Needless to say withing 1 month of joining I am starting to see the benefits - albeit small for now. I believe in another 2 to 3 months of attending classes 2-3 times per week my triathlon times will drop markedly. Bottom line. Incredibly friendly gym. Most members are very friendly, family oriented and professional. Good mix of men and women. Great prices in comparison to other gyms given the level of service you get. Now after almost 3 years, I still love this place, Great atmosphere, friendly people, terrific Coaches. The workouts never get boring

I have to start off with saying that Omega was my home for 3 years. I truly enjoyed walking into that gym and being greeted by friendly faces. Over the few years that I spent there, I built not only my strength, but my confidence, as well as friendships, and found my gym home. I fell in love with lifting heavy and challenging myself beyond my comfort zone. However this all came to an abrupt end only a week ago with the change of ownership. I was given no choice but to leave because my trainer was no longer welcome in his own gym, leaving myself and other personal training clients with no one train with. And even worse, there was no communication given to any of his clients in regard to his exit. It was as if none of us mattered. I feel as though I was outcasted from my gym because the new owners no longer wanted to "deal" with personal training clients. It was and is still very upsetting. I wish them luck moving forward because if this is how they treated long time clients willing to spend money, I cannot imagine how they will treat new potential clients in the future. read more

This is the most committed I've ever been to a gym. I initially started doing cross fit, but after a back injury, I decided to try their bootcamp class. These classes are amazing! Marc is such an excellent trainer! I honestly feel stronger and in better shape at 43 then I have in a decade! So don't think this place is just for cross fitters! People with all different body shapes and ages are members here. You won't ever feel intimidated, just really welcomed from both trainers and members! A+! read more
