Went to Japanese store and saw this bubble tea shop next to it. It was a nice little shop with snacks, gyoza (they called it japanese dumpling), bubble teas, and ice cream. I ordered ING puppy strawberry ice cream. My daughter was hysterical when I cut it into pieces. Lol. The ice cream was very hard to cut into, a 5 yr old won't be able to cut it lol will need adult intervention. The drinks was ok, wish they give option of how much sugar/ice cause it's too sweet. I really wanted to love this place. It's undeniably cute -- there's a Monkey King statue in the back and a wing mural that makes for a fun photo op (though the area was mostly covered by a kids' play area when I visited). It's clearly a true local Asian family-run spot, and I always want to support that. That said, the food and drinks just didn't hit the mark for me. We tried the ice cream dog, takoyaki, fruit iced tea, and Thai coffee. The ice cream was oddly hard, not easy to eat. The takoyaki was bland and didn't taste traditional -- more like doughy balls without much flavor. The fruit tea was watered down, and the Thai coffee was way too sweet without much depth. What keeps this from being rated lower is the service. The people running it are incredibly kind and welcoming -- they clearly care and want to create a cozy, community-driven space. I heard of this place on IG and I just had to try it. They had a pretty decent sized menu of food and drinks. I ended up getting the chicken bowl and coconut smoothie with boba. The chicken bowl had popcorn chicken, rice, slices of avocado, salad, and a few pickles. I thought it was really good and the chicken paired well with the pickles. I did like the amount of rice and salad as well. The coconut smoothie had the perfect amount of sweetness for my tastes. The staff was pleasant and my order was cooked on the spot and took just under 10 minutes. I didn't notice in the logo that it had the monkey king, which the restaurant was sparingly decorated with him and a set of wings you can pose with which was fun. I have been to OMG cafe and tea a few times now. I come whenever I am wanting a crepe bc the omg crepe is so good. The amount of fruit you get for the price is unbelievableI normally get a taro milk tea but decided to get a dirty milk tea today which is their version of a brown sugar milk tea and it was amazing. Place is clearly owned by a family bc the same people are always working and they are always so nice. It's impressive to have only three people working for a place and staying open every day! A cute a little place. Their location is not very good. The takoyaki is...also not very good. To me, the ideal takoyaki had a slight crisp to it, followed by warm umami. This is just doughy and slightly chewy. Both the texture and flavor are kinda different from your standard takoyaki, in a bad way. It doesn't seem to use your typical takoyaki sauce? But has some sort of white sauce? Don't see any green onion nor taste any ginger, which might be warranted in this case since the flavor is weak. It's hard to even taste or feel the octopus in this. I wonder if it actually has any... Okay, I'm sorry. I'm done dunking on the takoyaki. I still gave them 4 stars because they're mostly trying to sell bubble tea, and the one I got was pretty good. He went on to explain that the owner wants customers to be satisfied so that they'll return and if they get something they don't love, they won't be back. I fully agree. The employees working on a Friday night took their time to review the menu with me and then they suggested I get the Golden Lover after I inquired about it. They described it as a mango drink topped with cheese that would remind me of yogurt. The drink was beautiful, nearly golden indeed in color as the name suggests. I added boba and they added mango fruit jelly. They told me to stir it up and while I tried, the density of the cheese kept it rising to the top. Nonetheless, it was good - not too sweet or icy. It was a very light and easy sip. For $3.75, I thought the price was reasonable. In addition to their drink menu, OMG offers several food options such as takoyaki and crepes, and they have milkshakes and ice cream, including the puppy. Been here a few times now and am finally ready to post a review. Someone said this place was "hit or miss" and I would agree. When there aren't many folks in the lobby, everything is pretty good. When there are a lot of folks, that's when you start getting some inconsistent products and the wait time starts getting extremely long. But come on a quiet, slow time and you're likely to be pretty happy with your order. Out of all the boba places in Jax, this place for sure has the best tasting (and best textured!) boba hands down. I was very luck to stumbled across the OMG Cafe. Primary a dessert spot with milk tea, milkshake and ice cream. However, I enjoyed both the crepe and the Takoyaki, as I was looking for more of a lunch. Both where very unique and enjoyable. My friend really had fun with choosing the music. My friends and I came and each got a different drink: Blue Sky, Taro Milk Tea, Banana Milkshake, and OMG Tea Brothers. I really love how they do their tapioca pearls. It's sweet and chewy and went really well with my Taro Milk Tea. The Taro was not too sweet and really captured that original Taro flavor. My favorite drink was actually the Blue Sky. It reminded me of a Korean childhood drink: Milkis. Came in on a sunday, it was just me and my husband at first then came another couple. We ordered the oreo milk tea and the fruit crepe. My husband got his drink 10 mins later and I got my crepe approx 30 mins later. The drink is tasty and boba has a good consistency. My crepe was chewy I thought I was eating Naan. Thankfully, OMG Cafe was open until 9:30pm. Made a quick stop there and got a matcha milk tea and mango milk tea. The drinks tasted a little powdery but not in a bad way if you don't mind the slightly grainy texture. I enjoyed the flavors of both milk teas, and I have no complaints about the boba consistency.
