Fish plate (roll, 2 sides), double order of sausage bayou bag, lots of condiments provided w/o request. Feb 2023
Heather R.

3.5 between ***a-ok and ****I'm a fan. First time contact, at 5:30pm I put in a delivery order for a fried fish plate (2pc, fries, roll), sausage bayou bag and turkey bayou bag. They work through delivery.com. Driver called to say they were out of turkey necks so, looking to make it easy for everyone, I requested to double up on the sausage bag because it's the same price as the unavailable turkey. Just scant moments after 6pm I had my food in hand, one foam clamshell and a proper weight ziploc full of piping hot food. The to-go bag also held generous packets of ketchup and what passes for tartar sauce (mainly mayo, I know I am a yankee transplant pain in the a**) plus a shot each of OB/Cajun seasoning and garlic dip. FISH PLATE $10.99 The fries were not special, standard frozen but cooked properly. Think they had something slightly warm shaken on them because it wasn't ketchup I was tasting that had the lovely mildest heat. The fish also, slightly less seasoned but the crumb was gloriously crunchy even after delivery and my usual pre-dinner fumbling. SAUSAGE BAYOU BAG $6.59ea My double order came in a good ziplock, just the clean meat/veg without broth or a lurking pile of seasoning sludge. Doesn't mean there wasn't flavor, this is a nice medium for people who love heat and a threatening heavy for people who don't. The red potatoes are not the tiny c-size you could almost get away with inhaling with your back turned at a cocktail party, they're substantial. Corn's not the sweetest (again, picky midwesterner) but it was plump half cobs and well cooked. Sausage links are decent, not the three precious counted penny slices I got at another place. Saw green bits throughout the link, I assume it's peppers. All in all, I'm happy with it. Competitive price and tasty goods. Limited menu but it's a niche thing, innit, and keeps the line moving fast. It scratched my itch and is a nice flavor to have in my neighborhood rotation.

The service was amazing very welcoming faces :). Ambiance definitely reminded me of Louisiana. Food wise I was satisfied. This was a swing and a hit for me, I will be back!

1 Lb Boiled Crawfish

Lured in by the crawfish sign; did a test 1lb. I guess I expected a little more for $10 a pound. Plenty were overcooked/soggy while the others were as pictured. There were a handful that were edible, but hopefully they get better as the season progresses.

Omg Seafood Combo for 2

Decided to stop and treat ourselves on a Sunday, and let me tell ya - ain't nothing like a crawfish boil to clear your sinuses! The place isn't much to look at, it's an older suite so it just looks a little dirty & dingy on the inside, but they do have a walk up window and a couple picnic tables to sit out on the patio with your furry companion. We ordered the OMG Boil for 2 combo, and honestly splitting it in half just wasn't enough to fill me up. About 4 of the shrimp I ate were mushy/deteriorating when I peeled them, they were cooked through but that honestly tells me they were starting to decompose at the time of being cooked; so not super fresh. The crab clusters were good. The potatoes were very flavorful & the corn was sweet with a Cajun kick. They only have one flavor. We added 3lbs of crawfish and LIVE is honestly the only way to go. If you're a real deal mudbug eater, you know what I'm saying. The crawfish retain so much flavor in the head when their lungs are functioning as they go into that deliciously spicy hot tub to die. If you don't suck the head - you'd enjoy a frozen crawfish any day - we're simply just not the same. The bugs were on the puny side, and that's was really my only gripe. They go pretty heavy on the cayenne powder in the boil, so you can't taste much else while they're straight from the pot. Overall, it was good enough but nothing like what I get in N'Awlins, BABY - Cajun Seafood on N Claiborne is the bomb - but for SMTX, this'll do.

We read the reviews and were excited to patronize this business. It's hard to get excited about the food when the restaurant has no air and it feels hotter in here than it is outside...we were sitting here drenched in sweat waiting on our food. Food is delicious! But it's HOT in this building!!!

Ordering our Cajun seafood at the front counter. Watch out for the teeth in the alligator head on the counter.

Nice cozy small restaurant. Only 3 tables available for eating in. Had the seafood boil for two w/ crab legs, shrimp, sausage, corn & potatoes. Food tasted great just spicy enough but still had the Cajun taste.

Tried a few times. Not the best. I prefer more seasoning and butter. Also not the worst. Friendly staff!

I've come here for many years and I will continue to until it is gone with the wind, replaced by a luxury apartment for students or just otherwise shuttered. This is a fast casual spot -- you order at the counter, they give you a ticket, and call your name when it's ready. No tip required, and service was really kind. The owner was there and was super nice as well. Seating is pretty unique: two long wooden benches, so you might end up sitting close to other diners, but it makes for a lively, friendly environment. They also have three unique sauces worth calling out: a spicy mayo (pretty standard, but rich and delicious), a curry mayo (strong curry flavor in every bite -- not for everyone, but I loved it), and a wasabi mayo (never had this before, and it was honestly great -- strong wasabi flavor that paired really well with my dish). Chicken Teriyaki Bento ($10.50, 7/10) -Comes with a side of rice and ginger, both of which paired really well with the wasabi mayo -Portion size was relatively large -- left me full, but really only enough for one person -Topped with a crunchy garlic/panko crunch that paired nicely with the chicken -Teriyaki sauce on top was a little too salty; would've been better with less salt -They give you a water bottle on the side, which was much appreciated since everything ran on the salty side Overall, a great fast casual spot to hang out with friends and get good food at a good price. Really enjoyed their three sauces -- the mayo, wasabi, and curry were all unique, and I haven't seen that combo anywhere else. Great to see that adventurous side.

The only thing that can be tasted in this chicken salad is a bit of mayo, red onion, lemon juice, and jalapeño. It requires no "extra" seasonings. I am not a big fan of mayo, but for those who are, they will find this salad is light on the mayo. I did add EVOO to the mix to spread the chicken salad across sourdough bread. Outside of this chicken salad, I've purchased various cuts of meat and cheese from this shop. Each item I've purchased here seems to be better than the next. #supportlocal

You'll discover the same unique, rich, warm interior we discovered; an elegance to be appreciated, which bows to unpretentious Texas hospitality. You'll again be greeted by a helpful, charming, engaging waitperson. Our latest waitperson was Sami, a delightful young lady who tended to us as if we were her only table. You'll discover a menu with great selections with Chef Monty's personal flair and reasonably priced. If he can free himself, you'll most likely meet Monty, both owner and chef. It's hard to imagine a nicer guy unless it's Kyle, the manager! Palmer's atmosphere is suitable for casual conversation over a meal, for Sunday brunch, an anniversary, or a romantic date night. One of our favorite activities is evenings in the courtyard with wine and appetizers. Also, it's difficult to resist their desserts, by the way! Reservations are accepted on a limited basis, but "call ahead" is always available. There, I've said it. Against my better judgement, you now what I you know. The rest is up to you.

The food portions were surprisingly small for the price -- honestly small enough for a toddler. However, i prefer the Graduate plate and I will say the mashed potatoes were incredible and probably the best I've had anywhere but the pot chop tasted like turkey and had no flavor. Unfortunately, the service was the biggest disappointment. Our waiter never really welcomed us or made us feel appreciated as guests, especially for such an important occasion with a party of 13. As the graduate and guest of honor, I felt completely ignored the entire night, which especially upset my mother. He mainly interacted with only one family member the entire evening and came across as cold and uninterested. I understand he may have had a broken wrist or was having a difficult day, but it still felt disrespectful and lacking basic hospitality. I might consider returning someday to try the regular menu instead of the preset graduation menu, but I definitely would not want the same waiter again.
