It was a Monday when my wife and I flew into TPA to close on our house in Central Florida. We were looking forward to lunch at Kinka's but alas, they're closed on Monday. We checked out Yelp and pivoted to Las Palmas Latin Grill. It was a late lunch and the place perhaps had 2-3 tables occupied. We were greeted warmly and seated promptly. I ordered their lechon asado and my wife ordered the Cuban sandwich, Miami style (with salami). Their lechon asado was decent and my wife thinks their Cuban is as good or better than Kinka's. Value wasn't bad either. Lunch for 2 with tip was just under $39. Perhaps a viable fallback option if/when Kinka's is closed.

Going Las Palma's when first choice for lunch was closed. Great 2nd choice that should've been first. We were 4 for lunch and every menu choice was different-beef, pork, shrimp and Sandwich. Everything was so good we all sampled each other's choice. The shrimp had a very nice garlic sauce and bread for dipping. The plantains were on point in texture and flavor, not too soft & not too sweet. The beef and pork were tender and so tasty. We were seated immediately and she took our drink order. It has great atmosphere though quiet. Not a large space but clean enough a room bathroom...I believe it was unisex because vi only see the one.

Small cafe with solid Cuban food full of flavors like my grandfather cooked. Totally legit. Never disappoints. Take out is steady too. Prices are reasonable and YES, you will be taking food home. Service is friendly. Menu and servers are bilingual. Salsa plays in the background to ensure a happy and lively mood. Great spot, don't miss it. Plenty of parking in this plaza too.

Crispy beef with her even beans and yellow rice, delicious!!

We really love the food here! My husband loves the Cuban sandwich and often orders to go. I recently got the crispy beef with green beans and yellow rice, it was delicious! The small house salad is fresh and the dressing is tasty! I also had the pork with a pepper sauce, which was good! It's a small restaurant but good amount of seating, good air conditioning and comfortable environment. Service is good, and I want to mention that they have a sign outside that says: "No outside food or drinks allowed", just in case you miss it. You can leave your drink in the car. :) I am pointing that out because I always like to read through the reviews myself before going to places, and saw that some people gave bad reviews because they got told that they can't bring their drinks inside ( which should be obvious anyway, in my opinion ). It's disrespectful to a restaurant to do that. Plus you get free water inside. ;) I wish they would open in Sundays, but they are closed on Sunday, just fyi.

Reminded me of home Westchester. The food was simply amazing. I had the Vaca Frita best that I've had in the Tampa Bay area. Wife had the Milanesa de Res. The owner was so kind. I will be returning. It's worth the 40 min trip from Lakeland. Oh the Cafecito was on point. Dalé nos vamos en la proxima.

I'm ashamed I live a mile Away and only recently discovered this place. Entering this first time I was surprised at the small footprint but they pack a punch in this space. First 2 times visiting I ordered to go. We absolutely were blown away by the food and wife and I began to make this a regular date spot. So far we are beyond pleased with everything on the menu. From the pork/lechon to the tostones, the yuca, and to the desserts. I'm a picky guy when it comes to the food of my childhood. But every time the food hits my tongue here it's like a trip back to my childhood.

So many nautical nods in the decor-rustic coastal-in sort of an 80s/90s way (love). You can almost taste salt in the air-you expect the Gorton's fisherman to walk in. Yes, I could settle in here for a while. And I did. There are chalkboard drink choices on the walls-and a large menu. Happy hour and daily specials add to the options. I asked my friendly and helpful server to help me choose. She was spot on. The onion rings basket was a thing of true beauty. That batter is incredible-so light, so melts-in-mouth good. I'd go back for them alone. (and to try the hush puppies and fried green tomatoes) But then came the main event: a gorgeous piece of fried haddock that hung wayyyy off the bun on both sides-and loads of tasty fries. I swapped out coleslaw for green beans. What a feast! This is a lot of food! And every bit of it was really tasty. The haddock was huge-and so well cooked. It was tender-flaky-with another light batter, that complimented the fish perfectly. I ditched the bun and ate it with a knife and fork. It was just yummy. The fries had a good crunch to them and the bowl of green beans was deep. This is a massive value for money! Oh! And the margarita was good, too! A little tangy-I like that! (There's a full bar area, if you care to belly up) My sweet server was easy to talk to and super efficient. She knows the menu inside and out-and reads her customers well and early. The restaurant was cozy and comfy-it's a casual spot, but well tended and very clean. You really do forget that the busy world is right outside the door. There's tons of parking, but beware on super rainy days-there are low spots in that lot. The water came up fast while I was there and another server warned us to check our vehicles and move them, if needed. I decided to make a dash for it-so didn't get all the pics I wanted-but that's just another reason (along with the scrod and the mahi taco, etc etc) to go back. The Great Catch is a great choice. You can trust the Gorton's fisherman!

Chicken croquettes were crispy outside, juicy inside, with a really creamy, flavorful sauce. Bruschetta was perfectly toasted and buttery, literally melts in your mouth. The Cajun shrimp & chicken pasta had a nice kick, and the carbonara was pure comfort food. The shrimp and salmon dish is a great lighter option. Drinks were really good. Jack Berry Bramble if you like something sweet, and the Spring Bouquet was super refreshing. Desserts were amazing. The chocolate one melts in your mouth. Our server Hailey was incredible. After placing my order, I was offered complementary bread with extra virgin olive oil. For my entrée, I ordered the Lobster Stuffed Shrimp which is described on the menu as jumbo shrimp stuffed with lobster imperial, topped with lemon butter sauce, served with seasonal vegetable and jasmine rice. The Lobster Stuffed Shrimp was very good, and I would order it again. First, the dish was elegantly presented with every ingredient perfectly placed to enhance the presentation. There were six overstuffed jumbo shrimps topped with a lemon cream sauce and lightly garnished with diced tomatoes and shallots. The shrimps were perfectly cooked, firm and tender. The lobster meat stuffing was also very good with a few chunks of lobster (probably one piece per stuffed shrimp). The jasmine rice was light, fluffy, and paired well with the main ingredients. OMG, the broccoli was probably the best broccoli I have ever tasted. The broccoli was done right, tender, crisp, well-seasoned while the natural taste of the broccoli came through. .
