Honestly so delicious. From the outside it's hardly noticeable and once you are inside you still won't expect much. But the flavors that were put on our table were out of this world. I had the ropa vieja and it was delicious. A decent portion that allowed me to share with my daughter who wolfed down her garlic shrimp in record time. The yuca melted in my mouth and was so garlicky. Even the black beans were full of flavor. I truly would have gone back if I was in Tampa for another day, and I will definitely be making a trip back the next time I am in town. When you walk in the woman behind the counter is quite rude, almost bothered that we've walked in. No greeting, just a how many. The food is mediocre at best which is such a shame because we love Cuban food and have Cuban family. The Morros weee quite dry as if they were old, the Vaca frita was tough, dry, unseasoned and filled with onions, it comes with onions normally, it was in excess. The beans were ok, but needed to be heated they were not hot. The Tostones and Sweet Plantains were perfect! In the end the best part was the space with TV's to watch the World Cup. Las Palmas is located in a shopping center off Bruce B Downs that will be home to a new Aldi. They specialize in Cuban food and they do it well. The restaurant is small with some table seating inside. You can order to go at the counter as soon as you walk in, or be seated. This was my third time trying their food in the past three months. The first time I had Las Palmas I tried the Cuban sandwich. It did not disappoint and I would say it can compete with the best Cubans of Tampa Bay. Their ropa vieja is so flavorful, it is the best I've ever had. The fried pork I ordered today was mediocre. I would not order it again. It wasn't bad, but when compared to the other dishes it is nothing special. The sides, plantains and yellow rice, were very good. It was a Monday when my wife and I flew into TPA to close on our house in Central Florida. We were looking forward to lunch at Kinka's but alas, they're closed on Monday. We checked out Yelp and pivoted to Las Palmas Latin Grill. It was a late lunch and the place perhaps had 2-3 tables occupied. We were greeted warmly and seated promptly. I ordered their lechon asado and my wife ordered the Cuban sandwich, Miami style (with salami). Their lechon asado was decent and my wife thinks their Cuban is as good or better than Kinka's. Value wasn't bad either. Lunch for 2 with tip was just under $39. Perhaps a viable fallback option if/when Kinka's is closed. read more

Going Las Palma's when first choice for lunch was closed. Great 2nd choice that should've been first. We were 4 for lunch and every menu choice was different-beef, pork, shrimp and Sandwich. Everything was so good we all sampled each other's choice. The shrimp had a very nice garlic sauce and bread for dipping. The plantains were on point in texture and flavor, not too soft & not too sweet. The beef and pork were tender and so tasty. We were seated immediately and she took our drink order. We really love the food here! My husband loves the Cuban sandwich and often orders to go. I recently got the crispy beef with green beans and yellow rice, it was delicious! The small house salad is fresh and the dressing is tasty! I also had the pork with a pepper sauce, which was good! It's a small restaurant but good amount of seating, good air conditioning and comfortable environment. Service is good, and I want to mention that they have a sign outside that says: "No outside food or drinks allowed", just in case you miss it. You can leave your drink in the car. :) I am pointing that out because I always like to read through the reviews myself before going to places, and saw that some people gave bad reviews because they got told that they can't bring their drinks inside ( which should be obvious anyway, in my opinion ). It's disrespectful to a restaurant to do that. Plus you get free water inside. ;) I wish they would open in Sundays, but they are closed on Sunday, just fyi. read more

I brought my water bottle with me, which I take everywhere because I use a triple filtered water and prefer not to drink restaurant water (in my 30 years this is the first time EVER a place did not allow me to bring in my water. Mind you this is not a fine dining place, its a little resturant with 5 tables and honestly pretty gross inside) . As soon as we sat down the woman at the front immediately told me I couldn't bring it inside -- which already felt unnecessary considering it was just water. What made it worse was her attitude. She had a very unwelcoming, standoffish demeanor from the start. no greeting, no friendliness, just a negative energy right when we walked in. Out of curiosity, I looked through reviews while we were there and saw that this same situation has happened to other customers (someone mentioned being told the same thing over coffee). So this clearly isn't a one-off how they treat people. We were a party of 5 and ended up leaving before even being seated because the vibe was already off. Between the unfriendly service and the overall atmosphere, it just didn't feel worth staying. Also, the restaurant itself is very dark and dull inside, nothing special, especially considering there are much better Cuban spots in the area with welcoming service. After days of my mom telling me about this place, I finally tried it and I am a fan! The food is amazing and cooked to order. Everything is hot and fresh. I came here two days in a row after trying it for the first time. I order the cuban sandwich, empanadas, fries and a drink. I will say that I LOVED the empanadas so much. The cuban sandwich was also really good. I loved that it was pressed. The only reason I rated them a 4 is because they are a little on the pricey side. I believe I might spent close to $35-$40 on my visit for just myself. The small fry is $4 which seems over priced for the amount that you get. Customer service is good. I am so excited that Tampa's best Cuban restaurant is back! The owners of this restaurant have been put through the ringer but they've come back stronger than ever. Over two years ago there was a devastating fire at this restaurant. To keep things going while they dealt with insurance they bought a food truck and ran it out of the same parking lot. During Florida summers it was easily over 100 degrees inside of it sometimes. They kept going. They have posted online about the restaurant construction and it was pretty much a complete rebuild of the place from scratch. They had to acquire a lot of new equipment, some of it from very far away. They kept going. The restaurant had its grand re-opening on Oct 24, 2023. For those of us that remember the old restaurant it seems instantly familiar, but at the same time quite different (but not in a bad way). I think that it looks wonderful. Why do I know so much about this place? It's because I keep coming here because the food is incredible. Ramses, the chef, just claimed first place for the best cuban sandwich at the Tampa Cuban Sandwich Festival and this wasn't the first year that he won. The grilled chicken they serve here is also the best I've ever had. Going into this restaurant again for the first time in over two years just filled my heart with joy. The owners are just the nicest people who always remember me, even when I hadn't been for well over a year because of Covid. I came here to try some dessert. I ordered two flans which were 6 dollars a piece. They tasted great but were fairly small for the price. They seemed to be running low on other dessert so that will have to wait till next time. Easy parking and in a great location with a good amount of seating. Unsure of the recent closures as I had tried to visit a few times before last year but the timing listed wasn't matching the opening. My husband and I have been awaiting a regular place to get good Cuban food! I did forget to get a snap of our entrees but let's start with the starter. We got the tostones rellano with shredded pork. The pork was melt in your mouth and juicy. Paired with the tostones cups and a delicious garlicky crema. They also had Materva which has been hard to find here, a favorite!! For entrees we got masitas with yuca and rice - the masitas were perfectly fried, I wish it had a bit more of the garlic and onions but overall delicious. I will however be ordering the yuca every time, mouthwatering!! My husband got the pallomilla steak with rice, beans and sweet plantains. He very much enjoyed! If you are looking for an OUTSTANDING Deviled Crab this IS the place. My only suggestion though, is before you make a trip here, call to make sure they have them. My husband loves Devil Crab and we saw the reviews about this place having the best. We drove quite a bit out of our way to go here only to find they had 1 left. Thankfully they had one, because we may have not stayed otherwise. This a small restaurant located in a shopping center that has limited seating. They ONLY have canned drinks and bottled water. No fountain drinks or even tea, so there are no free refills. If you have a picky eater, I would not suggest coming here unless there is something on the menu they would eat. Trying to make adjustments to something on the menu for a picky eater did NOT work well for us. We started our meal with two orders of Ham Croquettes (4 per order). They were beautifully fried and the inside perfectly seasoned and creamy. These are probably some of the best croquettes we have ever tasted. Thankfully we were able to try one of the Devil Crabs which made it well worth the traffic and rain to get here. Once again the crab was fried to perfection and the seasonings with the crab filling was mind blowing ( I didn't even put hot sauce on it because it was that good). I ordered the Breaded Steak Milanese which sadly was not as good as I had hoped being that it was the most expensive item on the menu. This is large enough that 2 people could easily share the dish. The meat was pounded vey thin and fried a little too long in my opinion. The meat was slightly burnt around the edges and was tough to cut. There was plenty of cheese on the steak, but I personally would have liked more marina sauce. I would not order this again. The yellow rice and black beans were on point with their flavors! The Medianoche was a very good sandwich, but not the best or the worse. The bread was correct and it was cooked correctly, but nothing stood out to make it an over the top sandwich. The Tampa Cubano was a typical grocery store quality Cuban. Once again nothing over the top or special about this sandwich, but still a good sandwich. The Pan-Seared Fish Fillet was a white fish that was seasoned very well and very flaky, but once again was a pretty average quality dish. The plantains were cooked beautifully with just a hint of sweetness. For our picky eater we ordered the Golden Seared Chicken Fillet thinking he would be ok with grilled chicken, but he didn't like it. The chicken was seasoned great, however it was pounded very flat which made it kind of dry with a stringy texture. We asked if they had a hamburger bun to put the chicken on to make it into a sandwich, but they only have Cuban bread. We order a side of Cuban bread which was delicious, however it did not appease the picky eater and was left uneaten. Overall opinion would be if I found myself on that side of Tampa again, I would probably go here again just to order appetizers with yellow rice and beans. read more

Anyways the Cuban is what you'd expect ham pork, mustard, pickles , cheese . It's phenomenal get that for sure . Las palmas also has delicious pastries for just 1.50 a piece ! My only critique would be the pastries having more filling inside , I usually have to bite towards the center to get that culinary delicacy .
