    Blitzen's on Bagley interior decorations

Such a cute holiday pop up that exists as a standard bar during the rest of the year, but come Christmastime, it gets DECKED out and extremely festive, which we love!!! Holiday movies are played, tinsel and holiday lights are strung up everywhere, the drinks are THEMED, and the vibes are MERRY! The bar is a small space and is connected via bathrooms to a sushi restaurant and via another door to a taco restaurant as well! They all operate independently though, so I don't believe you can take your drinks or food from one place to another. Therefore, the seating is def limited in this space and it's first come first serve, so you'll kind of need to hover awkwardly until you can snag enough seats for your group based on who is leaving their seats. I don't drink alcohol, so can't attest to how good their drinks are, but I super appreciated that they had just as many non-alcoholic options as they did alcoholic. Mostly in part because everything was premade, which made the service very quick, but their ability to be flexible with what they were serving limited. There were like 5 different kinds of cocktails on their menu max and the non-alcoholic were just the premade mixes of all those cocktails before they added the booze in. I got the Grinch and really enjoyed it! The portions are SMALL and the prices are kind of high for the size though and I was done with my drink in less than 10 minutes. I would definitely consider and recommend getting more than one drink per person each time you go to the bar so you're not making a ton of trips! Love it though and love the festive cheer! Will definitely be back next holiday season!

I have been here for nightmare on Bagley and now vixens on Bagley. This pop up bar is too cute and the decorations and themed drinks makes it all the better. The drinks are usually cheap around $2-6 and they are right on point with the themes. The decor is great I love how they go all out to match the holiday. I'm excited for more of their pop ups

Went during the Christmas Theme period and it was fun and festive! Great time! Great vibe and drinks!

What a unique gem in Detroit. They hose different pop ups. I recently went to the Nightmare on Bagley Halloween pop up. It was sooooo much fun. They have a back room where they had a projector playing halloween films and the menu great. I LOVED the vibe. If you have time to go before Halloween, you should definitely check it out. I can't wait to see what they have here after the holiday.

Pros: -Very cute Christmas vibe -makes me feel like I'm in a late 90s/early 20s Christmas movie -food being available is convenient Cons: -space is way too small, felt like the walls were caving in on me when I was greeted by a wall of human flesh upon entering. -middle aged women were too abundant and screamed at decibels that only demons can produce

So I'm so glad this place is here to fall through. I first read about it in the Detroit Free Press and my friend and I stumbled upon it one night. I've been back because the festive decorations and Christmas movies playing really sell it for me. It's got just the right blend of everything from Spiked Eggnog to Jell-O shots in red and green, of course. This place is a lot of fun and the bar staff are great.

This is a fun Holiday stop. It's a pop up open for Christmas. It gives a great holiday vibe and is a fun spot. The only thing is it gets crazy busy. The bartenders are not going to make you a handcrafted cocktail. You order from a menu and they are premade drinks. I got the Grinch and he got the Naughty Santa (hehe. Fitting!). They were both so sweet that it was difficult to finish them. I would suggest coming here at least once this holiday season but wouldn't plan on being here more than an hour. Unless you want massive heartburn! I was afraid my teeth would rot out. Ha. Great job with the decorations though.

I don't care what the naysayers say about this--it was a great idea having a pop up Christmas bar! Cocktails were simple & cheap. They may be premix or whatever, but you could go elsewhere for an expensive delicious drink mixed for you cocktail. The point of the place was CHRISTMAS--lots of Christmas decorations & music. It was fun & celebratory, and we thank them! Even a few days after Christmas (which was when we finally had time to get here) it was FUN!

The staff was very friendly and warm when greeting guests. Their personable nature made the visit that much more worth the walk in the heat. Since the place was pretty busy we took bar stools to avoid waiting for a table and it was a good view of the smaller kitchen area. I was pleasantly surprised at the efficiency we saw from the busy crowd and the food not taking 10 years. The food was tasty. I truly enjoyed my Korean spicy fries. Spicy in name not truly spicy to cause a burn if that makes sense. I was craving a traditional breakfast plate but the staff and my friends who are local insisted that I needed to try the Korean fries so I did both. Was it greedy of me? Absolutely. Did I care? No. The locally sourced sausage was also very tasty. I must try to find it to cook at home. My friends ordered their regular go-to meals so it was great according to them. The burger and the duck hash. I think I'll go back and try the duck hash next time for sure. And another thing, there's a particular parking garage they validate a couple hours for. So parking is not an issue in this downtown office building.

The "Detroit street food" carryout counter is located inside of a gas station on Clark & Vernor in Southwest Detroit. There is signage outside, on the Clark Street side of the building. Inside the gas station, there is a sign for another food business. I thought that I was at the wrong location, but went outside and called the phone number listed on Instagram. The gentleman that answered the number, which turned out to be the gas station phone number, assured me that I was at the right place. I went back in, snapped few pics, and ordered. I wanted to try something exciting, but I wasn't sure what to get. I settled on a shrimp tempura taco and crunchy crab legs. My order totaled just shy of $30. The fried crab legs reminded me of mozzarella sticks. I only took a few bites. The snack seemed to be imitation krab. It came with seasoned fries and three different dipping sauces. It's a really kool snack item, but I don't think I'd order it again. The taco was more to my liking. It's essentially a deconstructed sushi roll. The tempura shrimp, sauces and cucumber sit on a bed of sushi rice on top of a fried wonton wrapper. It looked super cool and was very tasty. The dish was topped with crunchies. The menu is small and kitschy with fusion-style snacks. My carryout bag was packed with care and included a few Andes chocolate mints. I'll support the owner again trying other items and will share it with others.

Both were delicious and hearty, served with sweet plantains, rice and mixed vegetables. The red palm oil was so flavorful and surprisingly light. My favorite was the grilled shrimp appetizer. Six large and juicy skewered shrimp, seasoned perfectly. On the side, a bit of the cucumber salad. This was perfect on a hot summer day. We also ordered sides of kidney beans and collard greens. Both of these deserve an ovation and could stand alone as stars on a vegetarian/low meat plate. The country rice is so good, perfect for the gravy formed from the oil in stews. We washed it all down with expertly crafted fresh fruit cocktails - the Nimba Night and Liberian Girl in particular were fantastic! I have been following Little Liberia launch progress and was excited to be able to experience those west African flavors again. Liberian cuisine has been near impossible to get in the Detroit area since the early 80's. I haven't had any in a while. Fate however delayed me. I don't own a car and the restaurant is 25 miles away, Outside all the delivery apps ranges. So I couldn't get the food for months. Until today. Little Liberia is in a new hip part of Detroit. The neighborhood is walkable and has bikeways. New residential developments and inevitable gentrification are afoot. This restaurant deserves to be either in your regular rotation or a priority visit for a change of pace. It is well decorated and modern. It has a small bar and banquet space plus outdoor summer seating. The food was everything I remembered. The cassava leaf were so reminiscent of my year at LU, I would have been choked up but that would have slowed the pleasure that each forkful of the two entrees and one side I ordered delivered. I would have ordered more but they weren't serving a couple of my all time favorites check rice and potato greens today. I'll definitely be back to get those. Went on a Friday after the lunch rush. Their popsicles bring regular store bought popsicles to shame. I don't think I can ever go back now.
