I dropped my vehicle off to Jeff and went to the mall. Jeff phoned me and said I didn't need new rotors; he could machine the ones that were on the vehicle. A little surprised upon receiving this news, I said it was o.k. to machine the old rotors. Jeff also added an oil change to the job. When I picked up the vehicle, the bill was nearly the same price he had quoted me for brakes and rotors! Only I got no new rotors. I wasn't happy about the charges. Two weeks after the brake job I had to call Jeff and tell him that every time I let up off the breaks, there was a grinding-sticking sound! Creaking and grinding. I was not happy! He told me to bring the vehicle back and I did. He took the vehicle out on the road for about 30 mins and came back and said I shouldn't have any more problems. He stated the noise was because the brakes were new. I left, and the very next day the noise was back! He did the brakes back in Nov 2024; it's now June 2025 and the noise is still there! I have no idea if Jeff's brake job is going to cause me more problems down the line. The Toyota dealer wants $220 to check the brakes and I can't afford it right now. On top of the problems with his brake job, Jeff's oil change has caused me misery as well! Two weeks ago I took my vehicle for the oil change, as it was a little over due. Guess what . . . Jeff had torqued the oil filter onto the engine so hard, that the oil techs could not remove it without damage to my vehicle! They told me to take the vehicle back to Jeff, or go to the Toyota dealer for the oil change, as they would have the 'special tool' to remove the filter. In all the years gone by, and all 8 cars that I have owned, I have NEVER had this happen! I was livid! I called Jeff as I left from trying to get my oil changed, but no answer. I left an upset voicemail on his work phone and he didn't even have the courtesy to return my call. My first thought was, "Wow, I have to take the vehicle back to him anyway for the breaks; I'll just have him do the oil change too." Then I thought, "What are you thinking? This man has already messed up the brake job; why would you go to him for a 2nd mistake!" So I did go to Toyota and thank God they were able to do my oil change without incident. I will never go back to Jeff for repairs or maintenance and will not recommend his services to anyone. They diagnosed additional issues with the shocks, brakes, and a leak in the power steering system. I paid another $700+ to have those fixed. About a week later, the van started making a horrible noise. When I called to bring it back in, Dayan informed me they had moved to Huntington Beach and were no longer operating in Menifee. Unfortunately, the distance made it impractical to drive the van there given its condition. I then took the van to a Toyota dealership for a full diagnostic. They informed me that many of the issues H2D Motors had supposedly fixed still needed repair. Unfortunately, I was just outside the 3-month warranty period by one week. I didn't proceed with repairs at Toyota due to the high cost, so I went to another mechanic who charged me $1,100 to fix everything. They discovered that a part related to the shocks had not been installed correctly or tightened properly, which caused the noise and damage to the new tires I had installed just a month earlier. It turned out to be a wheel bearing issue. After those repairs, the van finally ran as it should--no noise, no issues. The issue was pulsating in the drive train. Their 1st assumption was "failed motor mounts". (I have no doubt the motor mounts were compromised, but it turned out to be unrelated). $2k+ later The vehicle was returned "as if" it was solved. It wasn't. Took it back, Tom drove it w/me & agreed. Then said he was consulting Porsche in Stuttgart Germany & would let me know "Monday" (it was a Friday). So, Monday afternoon I called. I was told back & day after. Each time I was told- "He's super busy but will get back to you". By Thursday I was no longer accepting that response as reasonable at and told by the formerly nice person on the phone that my repeated requests for an update were somehow over the top (my words, not hers... but I'd say that's a fair representation). To which I protested, asking- "Are you saying my repeated requests are the issue, or the lack of response we're getting from Tom?" I honestly wasn't sure since I had never been harsh, though now admittedly losing patience. She became indignant at this point to which I said- "It sounds like you're firing me as a customer?" Which I repeated with a tone of disbelief ‍. No yelling, just sincere disbelief... to which she apparently found offensive & hung up. The good part of the story is I that (in desperation) I took it to European Autowerks who solved it by flushing out & changing the transfer case fluid. It completely solved the problem for approx $500 (which included changing the differential fluid, & not related to the problem). Anyway, loved working w/Tom, but once they hit a snag they went rouge. If you note all the Yelp comments about "Tom" as a mechanic are A+, but their interfacing w/good loyal customers sometimes goes south. (See other comments) Btw: his wife who works the office part time is wonderful, & never had an issue there... which is also represented in the yelp comments).
