Great! (til it wasn't) Tom's a great mechanic, & fixed several of our vehicles over 3 years. All went well until incorrectly diagnosing a problem w/our Cayenne. The issue was pulsating in the drive train. Their 1st assumption was "failed motor mounts". (I have no doubt the motor mounts were compromised, but it turned out to be unrelated). $2k+ later The vehicle was returned "as if" it was solved. It wasn't. Took it back, Tom drove it w/me & agreed. Then said he was consulting Porsche in Stuttgart Germany & would let me know "Monday" (it was a Friday). So, Monday afternoon I called. I was told back & day after. Each time I was told- "He's super busy but will get back to you". By Thursday I was no longer accepting that response as reasonable at and told by the formerly nice person on the phone that my repeated requests for an update were somehow over the top (my words, not hers... but I'd say that's a fair representation). To which I protested, asking- "Are you saying my repeated requests are the issue, or the lack of response we're getting from Tom?" I honestly wasn't sure since I had never been harsh, though now admittedly losing patience. She became indignant at this point to which I said- "It sounds like you're firing me as a customer?" Which I repeated with a tone of disbelief ‍. No yelling, just sincere disbelief... to which she apparently found offensive & hung up. The good part of the story is I that (in desperation) I took it to European Autowerks who solved it by flushing out & changing the transfer case fluid. It completely solved the problem for approx $500 (which included changing the differential fluid, & not related to the problem). Anyway, loved working w/Tom, but once they hit a snag they went rouge. If you note all the Yelp comments about "Tom" as a mechanic are A+, but their interfacing w/good loyal customers sometimes goes south. (See other comments) Btw: his wife who works the office part time is wonderful, & never had an issue there... which is also represented in the yelp comments). I call in for a different BMW having an engine light issue. I kept getting sold on them having state-of-the-art machinery and scanners to properly diagnose the vehicle, and did provide a bit of information that I gathered from my personal scanner, everything was going smooth and was even put on hold for over 30 minutes, wrapping up with having my appointment booked. About as good as it gets with Tom and his crew! I knew when I met Tom he had the rare level of old school knowledge you can't teach so I dumped my '84 Carrera in his lap. It had a plethora of issues! I mean it needed everything. He knows these cars as well as anyone on the planet. He made the motor look like it just came from the factory! He rebuilt my transmission, he basically retired the car, he sorted out 1000 things with the motor, he sold me his catalytic converter off his '87. I can't begin to mention all he did on this car. My invoice was 11 pages long. That's how much he did. He was very fair in his pricing. I know he did a bunch of free stuff along the way too. I picked the car up yesterday and was blown away. It drives better than new. I learned of him from a guy I met at a cars and coffee. This guy said you have to take your car to Tom. I did. Limped in with a 1964 356 C Porsche coupe that had been sitting for years. The car had with major oil leaks, idling and power issues, and the list went on. Tom worked me into his busy schedule, diagnosed the issue and spent extensive time sourcing both major and less major parts. While waiting for parts, he went through the car, tweaking and adjusting various other previosuly negelected issues. Tom was a delight to deal with, kept be infomred throughout the process and welcomed my periodic visits where I was improssed by the quality and detail of his work. I am now the proud driver of my 356 which we have owned for over 40 years. It has never run or sounded better, great and smooth acceleration, and and only wonderful, confidence building sounds. In the end the effert to get me on the road was never in quesiton, and the final cost was more than fair. I am taking my 1867 VW split windo bus in next for normal servicing. On 03/11/26 I took my car to Tom's for an oil change. Two weeks later while driving, I got a warning that Stated "Reduced Oil level". I immediately called and spoke to the female that works the front desk. She then began telling me a story to the effect that the oil level in the engine had NOT reached the sensor, maybe because the engine oil was cold. She stated "All you have to do is top it off with oil and it will go away". I found that statement to be unbelievable!! I told her that the reason I took it to them was so that they could change it. I told her, so what you are telling me, is to go buy oil and put it in the engine myself.?? I added that we were in Las Vegas. What she said next was totally out of line: She told me "We did not make the car Mercedes did!! and you bought it it" I was totally flabbergasted by what she said. I told her that she was very rude, and I asked to speak to a manager. She told me that she COULD handle the problem herself. She then tried to flip it on me, by stating that I had been rude to her by trying to blame them for my problem. At this point my wife interjected because she knew that in no way was I blaming her, or the business of anything. I was on speaker phone during the conversation. She said that she would have Tom call me. It is very obvious to us that she felt entitled to act as she did probably due to a connection to the owner. I find it very hard to believe that an employee of the company not having ties to the owner would conduct herself in such a way. I strongly believe that a reputable business response would NOT have been to "just TOP off the oil". It should have been "return the car to us so we can inspect it and perhaps so we could "top off the oil" (the info about me being in Las Vegas, occurred after her rude statements.) Also, I never told her my name, nor did I tell her the car was a Mercedes. Subsequent to that, I believe a guy named Hank?? called me, and asked me to call back. There was no way I was going to call the office and have that woman answer the phone. I have owned Mercedes vehicles for many years and never had a problem after having the oil changed, nor have i ever heard the story that she weaved as to the reason for the warning message. Consumers beware!! To top it off at the end of the conversation she said in a very sarcastic manner and almost laughing "Have a nice time in Las Vegas!!" My wife was livid. Waring Took my VW here because my engine light had came on . G paid the $168.00 for diagnostic test . Grant told me I need $3692.28 worth of repairs for fuel injectors etc. And that if I use the wrong gas line from Costco that VW would cold my warranty. All a big fat lie . Went to European motor sports in vista talked to Cameron a honest man and he said look under your hood this is probably under warranty as VW has a 150,000 15 year warranty.
