On Call Pet Services is run by Kelly Lapre, who works with a team of other people. We've only interacted with Kelly, and have found her to be very responsive (as in, nearly always responds within in 15 minutes of an email) and 100% available (she has never once said no to a gig). For cat sitting (2 cats, uncomplicated needs), her rate has been $16, which I find very reasonable. That said, we have been working with Kelly for about a year and a half, and recently decided to switch to another cat sitter. This was not because of anything overwhelmingly egregious on Kelly's part, but rather that we've had better services from other sitters in the past and would like to return to that. For instance, other sitters have always texted us pictures and updates about our cats. With Kelly, I found that she'll give me a brief update if I email to check in, but that's it. I would've preferred if she texted pics daily with every visit as a standard. (Note: When I emailed Kelly to share some concerns/feedback and ask for our keys to be returned, she stated that she is happy to do this for her clients upon request.) Another example is that over a longer gig (4 days) this summer, we returned home to an empty water bowl and two very thirsty cats. When I asked about it over email, Kelly wrote, "I gave them water every time I saw them just like I always do. I have been watching cats daily in the heat for ten years and two cats will empty a bowl of water in one day when it's hot. The water bowl is not big and now that I think of it it was empty each time I came so maybe when your [sic] home you fill it more often or there is another issue." I concur with Kelly that it's possible that a combination of heat, cats, time, etc may have led to the water bowl winding up empty by the time we got home (a day after her last visit), but what concerns me is that she noticed the bowl being continuously empty, and did not reach out to us. I would've been 100% okay with her putting down another water bowl (even without asking us). Also, increased drinking in cats can be a sign of something pretty serious, and I would like to have a pet sitter that has the awareness and expertise to alert me to something like this. Again, not canceling our service because of major issues, but rather some minor ones that overall just put us off. ETA: Kelly said that she mailed my key back to me. It was never received. read more

For the last year, Kelly Lapre of On Call Pet Service has taken care of my Jack Russell Terrier Theo, and there is NO ONE I trust more than her, PERIOD. Kelly's rates are very reasonable, and Kelly's very dependable. Kelly's also accommodating. Once when Theo was with Kelly, I ended up in the emergency room, and was unable to care for Theo for a couple of days. Kelly kept Theo until I could resume caring for him. Kelly loves animals, and animals love her. Kelly also took care of my first dog about 10 years ago, and he also loved Kelly. Kelly sends pictures to me frequently, to show how much fun Theo's having. When Kelly comes to pick him up in the morning to take him out for the day, Theo shoots down the stairs, to get into her car, because he knows he's going to have a blast. For cat owners, I have recommended Kelly to one of the most difficult people I know who needed someone to care for her cat who has cardiac issues. Kelly was responsible for feeding him, making sure his water bowl was filled, and checking on his well-being. When my neighbor came back she went out of her way to tell me how grateful she was that I recommended Kelly to her. First - I should clarify - I didn't actually use On Call Pet Service's services. I just contacted them as a possible pet sitter for my dog while I was out of town. I discovered that they don't stay overnight - which is what a pet-sitter does. They only do short visits and walks - so they are more like a dog-walking service, in my opinion. I was annoyed with this company's lack of communication and lack of basic information. After a couple of initial emails, I spent half an hour typing information about my pets and their needs - only to get a short, perfunctory explanation that they don't stay overnight. And these emails lacked capitalization and punctuation - always a bad sign. She did offer to refer me to some girl who does pet-boarding at her home - but that is not pet-sitting either. Not helpful. I wouldn't leave my pet with anyone else. Kelly is caring, knowledgeable, and responsible. Her attentiveness to our pet was evident by our (usually stressed out) kitty's happy demeanor once we returned home. He usually shreds the couch and displays destructive behavior when left alone. Moreover, Kelly was professional and quick to provide credentials and insurance information without even being asked. On-Call's prices are very reasonable. For $20, Kelly visited our little one twice a day! This could have been a disaster -- especially given the fact that I was overseas and helpless to do anything -- but Kelly handled it and the issue was resolved before I got home or had much time to worry. Kelly is absolutely wonderful. My husband and I have 3 cats, and they're quite a handful. Two of them take medication (one needs meds twice a day), one cat has to be separated at all times from the other two or a bloodbath ensues, and they all eat different prescription food. It is not an easy job, and Kelly handles them with ease. Plus, all of the cats absolutely adore her. Going away used to be a nightmare because they normally hate strangers, but they can't get enough of Kelly. Kelly really cares about animals, and treats our pets as if they were her own. I rescued a puppy this summer and met with three different dog walking companies. At the meet and greet with On Call Pets, I knew instantly that I was going to go with them. Shelby was so personable and effortlessly engaged with my dog. I also mention that we had a vet appointment and she was like, oh he's probably getting these shots as he is x months old. I was really impressed with her knowledge of dogs and her interaction with mine. My work schedule can be crazy with meetings and yet Kelly always somehow accommodates modifications or add ons. And my dog walker, Devin, is such a great human. He has shattered my expectations of a dog walker. He treats my pup as if he were his own and goes way above and beyond. After walks are completed he provides a full report on how my dog behaved and who he played with. He's also incredibly knowledgeable about dogs ~ always telling me about temperament, age, breeds. As a new dog mom it's nice to have this extra resource. And my dog loves Devin, which is the most important thing. He jumps like crazy when Devin comes in. I'm actually moving out of state for a career opportunity and Devin was definitely on the top of my list as to reasons not to accept/move. We will be lost without him. Have been using On Call Pet Service for over 2 years at this point for walking my dog Mon-Fri while I'm at work. Kelly is very flexible and understands cancellations and added walks (as we have requested some Saturday walks if we would be gone for a while). We've never had an issue and love the walkers who walk our dog. They are very consistent in writing notes every day in the notebook we leave out so we know what happened during the walk. We've mainly had two walkers, Kayla and Sarah (I believe it was Sarah as she hasn't walked my dog in over a year). Kayla is wonderful in writing in the notebook and she will occasionally post a picture of the walk on their Facebook page. I can always tell that my dog is having a great time with her! This is, hands down, the best company I have ever hired - for anything. I have been with them since January when my puppy was 4 months old. Kelly (the owner) runs an extremely down-to-earth business making herself and her walkers flexible to client needs. Her accommodating service is truly a rare find- taking cancellations the night (or morning) before, calling last minute because the puppy can't be alone more than 5 hours, etc. It's also worth mentioning that of the 10+ companies I called when I was hunting for a dog walker, Kelly had the best prices of them all. It's difficult to work full-time and have a puppy, and I always felt bad leaving her alone during the day when I went off to work. Not anymore! I read a ton of reviews and chatted with a lot of folks at the dog park before choosing to leave our dog in the capable hands of Kelly and her dog walker, Kayla -- I couldn't be happier. I almost feel guilty on the weekends when Daisy doesn't get to see Kayla for a walk. What I love: - They are super flexible. I text or email our unpredictable schedule on Sunday night. - Daisy is exhausted -- I can tell she is really getting attention. - Daisy is head over heals for Kayla (there is serious tail wagging), and Kayla adores our little hound - Kayla leaves daily notes about their adventures, and they are written with the sense of humor necessary for a note that details a pet's bathroom habits among other things. - There's no mess. Kayla always wipes off Daisy's paws when they get back. - Kayla was able to watch Daisy while we were out of town, and she kept us updated with photo texts and cute notes. I used Kelly twice for cat sitting while I was on vacation. She was nice and I am sure she took care of our cat well. She seemed to like pets. I had some problems with her though, that made me stop using her service. - She cancelled picking up or bringing our key four times. The reasons were related to health issues (food poisoning twice), traffic, and once some attack on her car. She eventually had someone else bring the key. - On second vacation (2 weeks) she forgot to bring up the mail from mailbox. I was not happy with this, especially since we had gone through the tasks together and in addition I wrote instructions on paper. Our mailman was not happy with too full mailbox. I would understand if she forgot once but for two weeks... - Something else had also happened on the second visit as Kelly claimed that our cat had opened the freezer and taken pizza from there. I cannot understand how our cat would or could open the freezer (he doesn't open even doors). Also we did not have any pizza in the freezer or fridge or trash or anywhere. Something had happened with the freezer though, since all the food seemed to be melted and refrozen again. read more

But beyond that she and Greg have helped us socialize Max, keep us updated on his well being, even told us when something was weird or suspicious with our apt. There's no one I trust more! Never met in person - again, as some of the other comments have stated, Kelly did not meet my pet in person due to "food poisoning" and sent another employee to take her place. This resulted in me not getting to meet the actual person who cared for my pet nor to show them some of the nuances of my pet's care (he was recently in the ICU for kidney failure). Conclusion: Though the price is unbeatable, I will be going with another company in the future due to the unprofessionalism of Kelly and her employees. read more
