I stopped by for an inexpensive cooler to carry some seafood home. They had the perfect cooler for only $5. The clerk was helpful and friendly. I looked at the surf supplies and another clerk immediately asked if I needed assistance. The fishing gear is unbelievable. And kayaks, they carry everything. I could have spent all day in there. They rent surf boards, paddle boards, bikes and sell fishing licenses and can even set up fishing charters. They are locally owned. They offer free parking. I'll be back on my next visit to Surf City.

After striking out Tsunami Surf Shop came to mind. Although I'm not a tourist to this area the shop was the perfect location for the purchase I wanted to make. This shop had dozens of postcards to choose from that had current pictures of the area. The price was more than reasonable so I bought some extra cards while I was there. Being that it was not the main tourist season there were no crowds to deal with. To be perfectly honest I was a little surprised they were open in December. He started her out with all of the knowledge she needed before they ever got in the water, which calmed her nerves. Once they got in, she did fantastic & made it up on the first run. For a very rough and windy day, she had a great experience with no regrets. She even received applause from other beach bums. Spencer put a LOT of effort into pulling her & making her experience so great. Would definitely take more lessons if we had the time.
