Delicious! Everything is great but you should get the catfish. The cornbread was probably the best I've ever had!

I ordered a small combo plate of ribs and sliced brisket (sliced with the grain and not cross it as it should have been) and my sides were greens and coleslaw. I did not see the sign that said all of their meats were sauced, but if I saw it, I would not have had them put sauce on anything. As someone who smokes a lot of food, when I taste meat, I want to taste the meat and the seasoning and the smoke itself. The ribs and brisket were very tender, but all I could taste was the vinegar in the barbecue sauce. It completely ruins the meal for me because if I wanted to drink barbecue sauce, I would've asked them for a side of it with a straw. I did not taste the meat, I did not taste the seasoning, I did not taste the smoke. I also believe that if a pitmaster floods their product with barbecue sauce, they are hiding something. So I can't tell you anything about the meats other than everything tasted like barbecue sauce. For the side dishes, I got the coleslaw which was tasty and the greens. You can see the picture I took after I finished the greens and it looked like I had a cup of soup. I don't know why they wouldn't drain the water out of the greens. Since I was the only one in the restaurant, I was also surprised that nobody came up to me and asked me how the food was. They were all busy on their phones or talking to each other than to check with one of their paying customers if they were enjoying their food. The place itself, physically, I liked because it was a hole in the wall type atmosphere. I don't think I would've chosen contemporary hip-hop for my guests to hear. So that's it, I'm giving it two stars only because the tenderness of the meat, but definitely not because of any other flavoring I tasted. I also felt it was extremely overpriced for the portion size. I tried it, now I can write a review and know that I will never go back again.

OMG, what an EXQUISITE meal--My fried pork chop dish and hubby's vegan platter--chef's kiss perfection! My pictures do not do it justice! Chef Brian checked in during the meal to regale us with witty stories of cookng for luminaries like Mary J Blige, Eddie Murphy, Forrest Whittaker et al! It was the ultimate Chef's table experience!! Truly memorable!

You've got Forbes on one corner, Ugly But Honest Pizza on another, and Café Desta / 5 Points Market nearby, each are great for very different reasons. Chef Brian's absolutely belongs in that conversation. I came in with a friend who's spent a few years in the South and takes collard greens very seriously. To our surprise, the collards here are vegan and excellent. Great texture, deep flavor, and not an afterthought at all. Chef Brian told us it's something like a 20-hour process, which definitely shows. A quick heads-up: they do not have mustard, ketchup, ranch, or pickles. If those are must-haves for you, bring them along. Service was good, especially considering it was essentially a two-person operation. Chef Brian was upfront that things were running a bit long due to earlier guests, which we appreciated. We took the opportunity to grab a drink nearby and came back, no issue at all. The food was outstanding. We ordered the fried chicken dinner with fried potatoes and collard greens. The chicken was phenomenal: crispy, juicy, and full of flavor. I initially assumed a pickle brine, but Chef Brian explained it's actually the herbs he uses that give it that depth. Whatever the method, it works. Excellent food, honest service, and a smaller, no-frills space. Chef Brian is clearly an accomplished chef, with appearances on Top Chef and Bar Rescue, among others, but more importantly, he knows food and community. Definitely add this spot to your list.

The Buffalo wings were cooked just like I like them...extra crispy. I asked for the Buffalo sauce to be on the side. The wings aren't seasoned so the flavor is all in the sauce. Seated by the window made a fun time people watching as we enjoyed the downtown view. This place is more spacious than I anticipated. The bar area is sectioned off from the main dining area so there is plenty of seating. My waiter Robert was really awesome. Took great care of me and my sister's dining needs. He suggested dessert but we were too full to try any. So he suggested to sample some of their ice cream before leaving I went over to the ice cream shop which is right at the entry/exit door. I waited but no one came over to sample. After a few mins of waiting, I left and will have to try the ice cream next time.

The server was friendly and the ice cream wasn't bad but it wasn't something that blew me away. Also we had initially wanted an affogato but the espresso machine was down.
