For anyone who loves real good old fashion brewed coffee and strong coffee drinks, you're going to be disappointed. This is watered down premade mixture fluff...drive thru imposter coffee and tea. I could've gone around the corner for boba instead. It would have been better. I'm sure the owner is extremely kind, but the business model is one of quick mixes for convenience, leaving you with subpar, weak "coffee" drinks.

We visited for Easter brunch. We began with tabouli and hummus appetizers and enjoyed both the traditional and smoked salmon Eggs Benedict. Eggs were cooked to perfection and the silky hollandaise were flavorful. We toasted with the pomegranate mimosas. Everything was perfectly balanced and the service was friendly and attentive. It was a very pleasant experience and we look forward to going back to explore the rest if the menu. Such a great surprise in the heart of San Marcos, Tx.

The food and atmosphere may bring people in, but the way employees are treated behind the scenes…read moresays everything about a business. After working here for over a year and a half and working every position besides kitchen, I witnessed and experienced an environment where long-term employees are suddenly fired and pushed out with little transparency or respect. I personally experienced the owner yelling and cursing me out over the phone while given the responsibility of being a manager at 19 years old. management speaks in ways that were unprofessional and degrading to staff that is relatively young. Loyalty and hard work does not matter once employees began standing up for themselves or questioning management decisions. Along with this, I have witnessed the owner simply hiring girls because they "look pretty" on the cameras when management is interviewing them. I was especially disappointed by the way my own situation was handled. While I was on an approved study abroad trip, I was informed over text that there was suddenly "no room" for me anymore despite previous conversations about promotion opportunities. On my birthday. Attempts to communicate directly with ownership were ignored, and there was little professionalism or accountability throughout the process. I have never once in my life been fired from a job, and have always been told I have extremely ruthless work-ethic and impeccable customer service. This place drains the life and soul out of its workers. Customers should also know that some of the "fresh" image marketed by the restaurant is misleading. Drinks such as the orange juice and lemonade are not freshly squeezed in-house as advertised, the orange juice comes from a gallon and the House-Made Lemonade is made with gallons of lemon juice which are mostly bought from HEB. The freshly baked bread (baguette, whole wheat, gluten free, and english muffins) served are frozen and reheated from shipments of frozen bread. I truly cared about this restaurant and the people I worked with, which makes the experience even more disappointing. Professionalism, transparency, and respect for employees should not be optional in any workplace. If you care about the person serving your food, I would not recommend going to The Blue Dahlia.
