We used to follow the truck around and get their fish and chips, but the last time was absolutely awful. I could not tell the difference between the chips and the fish because the fish were so small. There were a couple of small pieces of fish and they tasted like they were cooked in auto drain oil. The chips were way overdone and hard to chew. I don't throw away food often, but we could not eat this mess. No more Hook. You are done. I only give one star because there is not an option for no star or negative. Yes, there will be a line, yes you will stand in the sun or a snowstorm (I've done both) and YES!!! they need to open a restaurant location! No, it's not a fast food drive-thru... Being a little patient isn't in your wheelhouse... go to Micky-D's and enjoy some of the processed "Filet of Styrofoam" fake fish they've made billions feeding us... Go to "the King" where they can't keep workers they treat their staff so badly, where I've waited 30 minutes in the drive-thru for onion rings that taste like fried batter... Some honorable mentions: Sassafras off Hot Springs rd. The parking sucks (dent city) but their FnC is delicious. Comparable price to the OTH truck. Worst: Red Lobster... wow, high priced over-battered Walmart frozen fish. Thin little pieces probably measured by the manager to make sure their stock values keep rising (fun note: August 31st, 2020, Red Lobster was acquired by Thai Union Group...) WORSTER!!! Long John's Silver... CLOSED in 2023, thankfully... Seriously terrible fish... all breading and grease, and not that downtown London on a foggy evening grease... tasted like they never changed the oil and just fried 10 pounds of smelt! Today was my 1st time eating here. Went About 1:30 In The afternoon North valleys location. 5 people ahead in line still only took us about 10 -15 mins total to wait, order and receive the food. Brought it home and it was delicious, portions and everything were pretty much what I expected. I got 1 platter with add on fish and had plenty to share with my young kiddos as a lunch portion. That being said men or someone who naturally eats larger portions would find this to be perfect for just themselves. Was looking forward to trying some chowder but they didn't have any ready and I didn't want to wait 30 mins then go back. So minus a star for that as I felt it should have been available after opening at 11am. And the chowder being unavailable always seems to be a common complaint they should take seriously. read more

We've eaten at on the hook twice. The first time, the fish was so good...nice plump pieces with a crispy breading. Today the fish were very thin (pencil thin) . On part of the piece, it was difficult to find the fish in the breading. Because of the thinness, the fish was over cooked and chewy. And, they ran out of tartar sauce. It was before noon!! This food truck always pops up on my Facebook timeline so of course I had to try it. We were hooked after the first time we ordered. Especially with that sriracha sauce! The batter on the fish is perfect. We usually order a few boxes and occasionally we get a fish or two that has too much batter or fried up weird and gets soggy. This business had a great product a few years ago. We used to look forward to going when we'd get the text notice that they would be in town. Our last two visits were very disappointing. Portion size and the service from the staff are no longer the same. Our last two orders were incomplete. We paid $30 for one fish and chips order and one fish-only order with extra fish and got only fries in the most expensive combo. I have reached out to the company for a resolution. In Kansas City, I have had a pretty chronicled streak of disappointment and failure when it comes to finding some good fish and chips. So when I saw on FB that there was a food truck coming to Olathe that just sells fish and chips, and many were raving about it, I wanted to check it out. After work, around 4:30, I drove up to the Kohls parking lot in Olathe. In the back of the parking lot, a number of cars had started to gather, as I got closer I saw there was a fairly big line. I jumped in line, and within 10 mins or so, I was at front of the line. There was no menu, just a sign that said fish and chips $12, extra piece $3.50. I don't normally get fries, but these battered fries looked good, so I ordered Fish and chips with an extra piece of fish. It totaled about $16 and change. Then I moved out of line and stood in the waiting for food line. This is prob the biggest downside. I waited 20-25 mins to get my food. So between the ordering line and waiting I was standing in the parking lot for over 30 mins in 35 degree weather. I've done worse but it's definitely one of the downsides. When I got my food I went back to my car and decided to eat there instead of taking it home. This was some of the best fish I have had, it was light and flakey, and plump and juicy with an excellent beer batter. Unlike many places I have had Fish and Chips, the breading did not get soggy, or start to peel off when I ate it, the first 3 pieces were perfect. The last piece however, not sure what happened to it, it was a bit tougher and drier than the rest. I'm gonna write that off as a fluke, since all the rest was great. It also came with both a tartar sauce and a siracha mayo for dipping. Both were good, but I tend to eat all my fish with tartar. Lastly, the fries were good, however, next time I'd stick with just the fish, as ai said earlier, fries in general just are not my thing. read more

This is a traveling food truck fleet that goes across the Midwest priding themselves on fresh fish and chips. There is definitely a following as we had to wait quite a while for food (over an hour). This was a bit frustrating as we were told it was less than an hour. They really need to update equipment to meet demand (my husband chatted with someone there and they are working out of a small fryer) The fries were delicious! Seasoned perfectly and crispy, I wish I had more! The fish was super crispy with a light batter and flaky on the inside, not at all dry or over cooked. They give you a container of Tartar sauce and Siracha Mayo. I skipped out on the mayo and the tartar sauce was very good. It was pretty expensive! But not much more than if you were to go to a sit down restaurant. I can definitely see by the food quality how they have a following. I may try and catch them when they come back to town (which they are regularly) at a bit more of an off hour to see if the wait is a bit better. read more

Tried this place out for the first time. Keep in mind this is a food truck idk if they have a permanent place in herriman but if you want to track where they go you can check their Facebook or website. $13 is reasonable for the food you get. Fish was super tasty, but wish the fish was a little thicker. Fries were good as well. The real winner here is their siracha mayo. Definitely ask for extra. Tartar sauce was good too. The only reason I gave a 3 is because the food is great. My wife and I have been visiting the Lee's Summit truck for sometime now. However, the portion sizes have gone down significantly. Both the fish and the amount of fries you receive does not meet the price charged. We used to have left overs. If resources are truly not available then prices should be adjusted and posted accordingly. We will not return until a consistent product returns. We heard about this truck being nearby from Facebook, and we love fish and chips, so we drove a few miles to try it. The fish was being cooked to order so it was a little bit of a wait, but it was worth it! Great fish with a good crunch and the fries were nice too. We thoroughly enjoyed it and would come back when they're in our area in Davis County Utah again. This was the worst fish I have ever eaten, it was all batter and over cooked at that. This placed used to be a great place to get a great fish meal however over the past year it has gotten worse and worse With the fish getting smaller and small until today there were big globs of batter with nothing in it and a hefty price at that. Really good-tasting fish but those are not "large" pieces by any stretch. They are fairly expensive and very slow. They seemed to be mostly sipping on soda bottles while we waited. The high tips recommended on the credit card screen coupled with the tip jar right in front are quite off-putting. I can't afford the fish only to have to go get a bean burrito to fill up.
