After a very brief inspection of the kitchen and basement, I was given two options: a basic drain snake (just over $100) or a $600+ full flush. Since we only had a kitchen drain issue and had successfully resolved the same problem with a snake in the past, we chose the less invasive option. While the trainee worked on the drain, I could hear that he was struggling with the job. The other representative spent much of the time looking out at our backyard and making conversation rather than assisting. They eventually told me the snake did not resolve the issue and suggested the problem might work itself out, but it would likely need the more expensive service. After they left, the drain was actually worse and would not drain at all. We contacted another plumber recommended by our neighbor. He was professional, knowledgeable, and after inspecting the same areas, determined we did not need a full flush. He snaked the kitchen line, and within about 10 minutes, the drain was working properly. I contacted Service One multiple times to discuss the experience and understand the qualifications of the team sent to our home. Each time, I was told a team lead, Shelly, or a plumbing manager, Alex, would contact me, but after several weeks, no one has followed up. I initially was not looking for a refund or discount, but after multiple attempts to get a response, I requested a refund for the time and service that did not resolve the issue. I haven't heard back on this either. This experience has made me reconsider renewing with Service One in the future. And I'm sharing this so others can make an informed decision for themselves as well.

It was broken when he sent the techs out. It was too short and there was no way of putting blades on. I was assured he would call me the following Monday or Tuesday once he received the new cable. He never called or responded to my texts. I had to go out of town for two weeks and when I returned I called and was told he had forgotten about me. Then he proceeded to tell me that the cable he was sent was the wrong one and would check status and get back to me. No call backs no response to text messages. I've given up. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

We had been noticing a decline in our A/C output since July - it wasn't getting as cold as it…read moreshould have been in the house. It really came to a head last week when we couldn't get it below 81 inside at the peak heat of the day even though the outside temp didn't break 90. The system is less than 3 years old, so I was frustrated and I was hot. I did my own self-troubleshooting on my own and cleaned the coils outside (which had a lot of caked-on stuff) and researched a lot online of what it could be. After I tried everything I could, I reached out to Abraham Heating & A/C knowing that I needed professional help. I spoke with Josh on Saturday and he lead me through some additional troubleshooting steps, and I was really impressed that he tried to solve my problem over the phone without costing me any money. When it became clear that he needed to come out, he scheduled us for his first available time, Tuesday afternoon. Thankfully, we weren't in a heatwave at the time, so we could keep the windows open and stay cool enough until things could be repaired. Josh was able to quickly diagnose that there was a defective evaporator coil in the house and the "freon" had leaked out, which is why things didn't get cold. Because the unit was so new, he knew that we'd be covered by warranty, so he called Lennox on our behalf. While it was covered, Lennox didn't have any replacement parts available - we'd have to wait 4 months for the part to come in from China. (Nothing against China or Lennox - this is how the global supply chain works now and keeps prices low.) Four months would be a bummer because it is mid-August now and we won't need the cool air in December. Josh advocated for us with Lennox and they were able to come up with an alternative solution with a part that Lennox did have and just needed some fabrication and modification to work with our system. We would just have to pay the difference in labor time and for the "freon" that needed to be added to the system. Thoughtfully, he didn't presume that we'd automatically go with this solution, and I appreciate that. Of course, we were impressed by what he'd already done for us that it was a no-brainer to have him complete the service. By Thursday, Josh had the part in-had and got it modified for installation. Now we have a cool house just in time for the upcoming weekend that is expected to be pretty hot. We really appreciate the helpful and honest work that Josh does at Abraham. In this situation, it would have been easy for others to use deceptive practices, but Josh is better than that. It is clear he works with integrity as well as skill. I am very pleased with the work, results, and price. What could have been an expensive $2000 job, ended up being only $700 thanks to Josh's help. Hopefully, we don' have HVAC issues in the future, but as with homeownership, it's not if issues pop-up, it is when. I know that when I need HVAC help again, I'll be calling Josh at Abraham Heating & A/C.

He also clipped all the wires "to avoid further damage" and promptly gave me a quote for a new one. I said no thanks. Billed me $100 for his time, insisting I pay that day. Called a different local company for 2nd opinion. They told me the unit (which they do not sell) was in fact under warranty and asked me why all the wires had been cut. They laughed when I told them, and promptly repaired the wires Abraham had cut, repaired the leaky line, filled with freon and the unit was working just fine. This is the worst case of fraud I have ever encountered. Perhaps his hope is that his Jesus license plates will instill trust in his customers so that he can rip them off without question.

I have been using Controlled Comfort to service my furnace and heat-pump for about 27 years now. I…read morerecently had to have an entire new system installed. I was told by the salesman, Travis, that I would get a $700 Rebate from OPPD and a $212 Rebate from the local Sheet Metals Union. It has now been approximately 2 and a half months of waiting for those Rebates. After calls a month ago and today, I was told that the system that Controlled Comfort installed does not qualify for the OPPD Rebate, even though the salesman, Travis, assured me I would get that $700 rebate as part of his sells pitch. I'm still supposed to receive the $212 rebate from the Sheet Metals Union folks who don't seem to be interested in timely Rebates. Overall, I have been satisfied with my service from Controlled Comfort. I was a little reluctant to believe the salesman, Travis, when he told me about the $700 Rebate, it seemed a bit like a con sells pitch. I would suggest you request a different salesperson. One other complaint I have is they added a charge of $800 dollars to the system to install a chimney vent. I believe Travis should have included that in the original sales pitch. We have been using the previous furnace without a chimney vent. $800 seemed excessive for that chimney vent for what they installed, and it did not take that long to do that installation - I understand the City Code might have required that now in an older house, but that was another expense that Travis should have included in the original sales.
