On the Rocks or OTR has become one of the regular places on my rotation. Every visit is consistent. From the food, to the friendly service, to the atmosphere where we are always welcomed in. The food is excellent no matter what you try. Some of my favorites include the patty melt, shrimp carbonara, and their Greek salad with gyro meat. They have a vast menu as well as a daily food and drink menu so there's always something new to try out. It's much more than just bar food too. They have a separate dining area for families as well as a pool table, darts, and club keno. It's a great place to meet some friends and watch the game. They also have a rewards program you can sign up for. Friday and Saturday night they have karaoke starting at 9 PM and music trivia bingo on Tuesday (I think) night. They get a decent crowd and sometimes it can be hard finding a couple spots at the bar but they usually will have a high top available if you prefer to sit in the bar area. I like that their kitchen stays open until midnight which is pretty rare these days. Bottom line you can't go wrong checking out On the Rocks!

Brought the family here for food and pool. Food was really disappointing. Ordered 2 dogs with chile and fries and it was not appetizing. The hot dog was about the width of a dime and came with very little fries which were un cooked in the center. Ordered mushrooms for 8 dollars and got about 12 of them. Extremely sparse. People next to us , friends of the waitress had tremendous looking food. Waited for over an hour for water refill and had to ask for it. Never again.

I stopped in one afternoon to grab a drink and wait for an order pick up at a nearby store to be available. Private lot off of busy John R. Inside is a traditional bar/lounge feel, like something from the 70s. Everything was clean, the staff were friendly and nice. They had some sports TVs going. For some reason the macro beer taps are on one end of the bar and the craft are on the other, they had an okay selection of craft.

I tried this place out last night for the first time. I grew up in Madison Heights, so I have a special place in my heart. I met Tim and he showed me some wonderful moves on the pool table.. Tanya was fantastic as the bartender. And I really like the ambience and the feeling of this bar.. I believe I have found a new place to end up at late at night when I know there is nothing to go home too, but my dog and two cats. Happy Monday, everybody and don't take any shit from anybody please

This was our 5th choice for tonight, settled on it since it's close by and convenient. The bar or front area is so packed. We sat in the back booth from the noise and chaos of the front bar area. Ordered 2 Greek salad sans feta and less pita, one with blackened chicken ($3 up charge) and another with blackened salmon ($8 up charge). Basketball is on, speakers overhead too, even if I don't care or want to hear the game at all. Our waitress's mask is more often below her nose when she approaches tables. I had to turn my head when she approached our table at all.My husband said that's what you get a place like this. She's still a nice waitress. I hurried through my meal so I could put my mask on. The Greek salads are okay. The salmon was decently cooked, not moist, but not dry. It helped to get a different seasoning than the bourbon salmon, might have been too sweet. My chicken was a bit dry, the seasoning was okay. The chicken didn't taste super fresh though, had an odd taste for some reason. The dressing wasn't too bad. The food is average. Service was okay, need to work on proper mask attire. They charge for club soda from the soda gun here. Ok. It would have been nice if our waitress had told us there was a charge for the club salad. I didn't even drink mine at all. I would have ordered plain water instead. The concentration of people were mostly in the front and bar area, far from us in the back room. They do left folks pick their own seats for the most part. The bar area had emptied 1/2 by the time we left.

Since this was our first visit we didn't know what to expect but the reviews looked good. We arrived to a packed house and I was surprised how small and crammed it was inside. Dumpy is tree he word is use to describe the inside. Peeling paint and stained ceilings. Ventilation system look like it was straight out of the 70s and never maintained since then. I never thought I'd have to worry about Legionnaires disease but this is the place that stuff like that starts in. Tired, old and dingy inside. I'm not opposed to dive bars and restaurants, in fact I love them but Boodles paints themselves as upscale dining with prices to support that. It's anything but. The tables are crammed very close together and you can't help but bump into the people dining next to you to get to your table. I've been in small, intimate restaurants before with the same type of tight configurations but this was almost ridiculous. We ordered a round of drinks. A Cosmopolitan for me and an Old Fashioned for the boyfriend. The people next to us had a group of 6 and they mentioned they have been waiting for almost 2 1/2 hours for their main course. That was another bad sign. Our drinks arrived and were very lackluster. All you could taste was booze which isn't a bad thing if you were ordering it straight or just on the rocks but a steakhouse like Boodles should know how to make a quality Cosmo and Old Fashioned. We ordered the bread service which doesn't come with dinner and was an additional $6. Nothing to write home about even though they claim it's their homemade sourdough. Personally I didn't feel it was worth six dollars. We each got a Caesar salad and while the salad was a nice portion it was lacking in flavor and very little dressing. We waited for our waitress to come and check on us to ask for a side of additional dressing but she never came around. We ate the salad and finished our round of drinks. I was already skeptical on ordering a main course because everything up until this point had been a miss. Against my better judgment I ordered their signature item: Steak Diane prepared table side. My boyfriend ordered the 16 ounce ribeye. Both entrées come with a side of their lyonnaise potatoes. While we waited for our entrées we each ordered a glass of the house Cabernet. They do give a generous pour so that was a plus. After waiting almost an hour they started to prepare the Steak Diane. It was cool to watch them prepare it table side and after waiting almost an hour I was happily hungry with anticipation. I wish I could say it was halfway decent but it was overcooked. I ordered my steak medium rare in hopes that if it does come out a little more than medium rare it's still pink and flavorful. It was grey inside with no pink at all. Even the sauce it was cooked and was devoid of flavor. How is it possible with all the butter and the garlic they were using it was still lackluster? My boyfriend did say his steak was cooked perfectly medium rare and was excellent. The lyonnaise potatoes were also tasty. This was the best part of the entire dining experience other than leaving. After our waitress came back to check on us I told her I was not happy with my main course and that I would like to send it back. She asked if I wanted something else and I said no thank you I'll just take the check. They did take my steak off the bill since I had only tried one bite. My boyfriend had his steak packaged up to go. We just wanted to get out of there at that point. What was surprising is nobody seemed to care or even inquire what they could do better to improve the situation. Every staff member we encountered was very nonplus which makes me think this is not an isolated incident. After paying our bill we walked by a group of people coming in for dinner. They asked us how everything was and I said well we are leaving and if you leave now you can save yourself three hours of your time only to be disappointed.
