I used to go to this place a LONG time ago for a period of about 4-5 months. Every Saturday. (And…read morean occasional Friday) It was one of those places that felt like a pleasant stroll through a simpler time. An old-school diner type-vibe and I liked it. Prices were reasonable, food was good, and staff were mostly nice. Felt like I fit in as a regular right away. I liked the old box TV's in the corner and the sound of the grill. I'm not even one for hotdogs, not a fan to be honest. However, I decided to try the namesake and was surprised by how good it was. I was even convinced to get another one on my first visit. I tried multiple things each week, and was pleased with all of it. Then one day, I was surprised in another way. They had hidden a loose body part under my burger. It was so disappointing. I walked out and once I was behind the building, I gave it the old "Ehh!" gesture by brushing my hand in the direction of the place. That signaled the end of my quarter-year patronage. A few months later, I was at a different eating establishment on the other side of town. And one of the employees from Lulu's walked in and said: "So you're not getting hotdogs tonight, huh?" I was dumbfounded. I couldn't believe it. First off, they were closed at the time, and secondly, I don't appreciate scraggly surprises in my food. (Now to be fair, the place I was in that night ALSO gave me a fuzzy memory to last a lifetime, but that's beside the point.) So if you decide to go here, make it a regular haunt, then suddenly stop going for three months, they'll stalk you and mock your new culinary preferences. Or maybe it was just me they did that to. Regardless, I haven't been back and it's been over ten years. Needless to say, I'm not going to be pressing my tuxedo or sewing any buttons on my vest anytime soon, as I'm not worried about looking my best, because I don't care that Lulu's back in town. I'm not returning.

This place is great! Will definitely come again!…read more A friend and i went on a whim, just to see, and was pleasantly surprised. I have lived in the area for a majority of my life and had never thought to go in. I am glad I finally did! The restaurant had ample seating, with tables inside and out, along with a long bar to sit. The service was great! Sean was super nice and told us all of his favorite things off of the menu. We ordered a handful of things: - A 1/4 All Beef Hot Sausage: This was my favorite item and Sean's go to on a break. We added chili and mustard and it was absolutely delicious. - A Hot Dog Dietz & Watson: Solid , but nothing to really write home about. It might just be, because it followed a sausage that good. We added chili, mustard, and a bit of onion for this one. - A Pork BBQ Sandwich: Really good! I am not the biggest BBQ fan either, but I plan to try the Chicken BBQ next time. I added coleslaw and onion for this item. I liked their coleslaw a lot, which also surprised me. The only thing I wished was added, was extra sauce. - Buffalo Chicken Sausage: Really good! This was a close second for me. It was not too spicy either. Just right, with onions, chili, and mustard. - Sweet Potato Fries and crinkle fries: I love sweet potato fries and these were good. The crinkle fries were just okay. I wish they did have some seasoning.

The smell drew me in the first time while visiting Lowe's and so glad I took a chance. A line is always a good sign that there are likely regulars and that spells something good is going on. The menu is posted on the outside and is simple fair type with burgers, sausages & cheesesteaks. The one young guy running the grille was friendly and recommended the cheesesteaks which I gotta say as a lover was suspicious. However I was willing to risk it on the off chance this food stand in a parking lot could actually deliver a fabulous steak. The price was affordable for a footling around $10 and added a bottle water and tip came to $13+ The cheesesteak was completed in around 8 minutes wrapped up and in a bag with napkins. I popped it open in the car and was amazed at the pure size and amount of meat. The smell was glorious with steam waffling above. The bread was fresh and authentic to Philly. The only thing left was a bite and it did not disappoint one bit, just wowzers! It was good enough to return prior to writing a review. It ended up being a carbon copy of my success with another incredibly delicious cheesesteak. This time I used a nearby picnic table to enjoy. This is a chain food stand. The owner has two located at Lowe's in Chesapeake and Virginia Beach on Holland Rd. If you love cheesesteaks then Dominic's delivers a masterpiece and you will not be disappointed. A 4.5 rounding up and later learned Yelp friend Terry was a super fan of their steaks which was cool. Don't forget to pick up a punch card when you buy 6 your 7th is FREE!

The interior is very clean and has they logo and other graphics on the walls. Very cute! My mom ordered an all beef coney with mustard, relish, and onions. I got the square dog which is a cut hot dog, ham, lettuce, tomato, and mayo on a bun. The Square Dog for $7.99 included a bag of chips and a soda which seemed really reasonable. Our food was ready quickly. While it was being prepared we enjoyed listening to the wonderful woman working the counter banter with the other customers who were coming and going. The to-go business was busy but it was only us and one other customer inside while we were there. My mom really liked her coney. The snap was great and the dog itself had good flavor. I enjoyed my Square Dog. I do wish maybe it had been a touch more robust. It could have just been the presentation but it kinda looked skimpy. I ended up adding mustard to it as well and it made for a really tasty sandwich. I'll say the two person team behind the counter stays busy. When it was hectic, it did take some time to get refills, our check, etc. Again, I know they were busy but just wanted to point that out. I'd definitely come back to The Dog House for the tasty food and friendly staff.

What a surprise!…read more We had a quick bite here before going to the Chartway Arena for a show and my husband wanted something for lunch. It was packed, probably with people doing what we were doing, but there were several seats at the bar so we snagged three and were greeted pretty quickly by a very friendly waitress. She made recommendations at my husband's request and suggested the special which was two hotdogs with topping of your choice, half order of fries or tots and a drink. He went with that and we ordered a single cheeseburger for our toddler. Food was out quickly - probably less than 10 minutes and the burgers and fries were piping hot and very good. My husband was pleased. Their menu is much larger than I expected with tons of burgers, sandwiches, some salads and other things. Our waitress and a few others checked on us while we ate to ensure we didn't need anything. Very good service. I think we will definitely come back.
