We were attending an UTV/ATV Jamboree about 35miles from Gardnerville, when a bracket holding our springs on our toyhauler snapped off. We called and Bob explained to my husband how to best secure the spring to be able to get it to him for repair. We made an appt and parked the trailer in on lot and they got to work on it immediately. My husband asked if he would be able to repack the wheel bearings and do a brake inspection. No problem. He suggested a place to go for breakfast that was dog friendly (best breakfast ever). While we were there Bob called and asked if we could come back by he wanted to show us a couple of things. Great...all I could here was $$$. He pointed out that the other bracket was about to fail, he showed us our tires, on the outside they looked perfectly fine but on the inside they were severely cracked and should have been replaced a before we even set out on the trip, but who looks at the backside of their tires? Bob and his guys Jerry and I can't recall the other service person, did a throrough inspection of the trailer. They kept us informed every single step of the way. Bonus was that they allowed us to spend the night on the lot and provided us with electricity, offered us coffee in the morning. We had them replace the tires and as soon as they arrived they stopped and got them mounted and on the trailer and on our way home. As I walked into the office to pay, assuming that as an out of towner with a repair that had to be fixed and with the added extras I was about to be way overcharged...to my surprise when handed the bill I questioned the amount..."are you sure this is correct? This seems way to low" she reassured me that it was indeed correct. We checked a few places prior to picking Bob's and just for the welding of the brackets was just as much as our total bill. Welding the brackets, repacking the wheel bearing, complete brake job, four new tires and a few other minor things, letting us stay on site and just the warm and friendly staff was well worth what we spent. I was on a trip from California to Nevada for work and I got a flat tire about 20 miles from my…read moredestination. Unfortunately, these new cars don't come with spare tires so to make a long story short, I had to stop about every 5 miles using a little electric pump to pump up the tire to keep moving. I needed to find a tire store close to where I was headed and I found Big O Tires in Gardnerville NV. I walked into the office and was greeted by Angela Lister I told her what happened and she said "no problem, we got you" A technician named Gauge, promptly came out, looked at the tire, said "yeah I'll be able to plug that" he slowly rolled the car around to the garage and within about 20 minutes had the tire all fixed. The best part of the story is, they didn't even charge me! I walked back to the office and asked Angela if they accepted my fleet management card because it's a company car and she said, with a huge smile on her face, "no charge I wanted to get you back on the road as fast as possible" Wow Amazing service actually does still exist in the world. You just have to be lucky enough to find it like I did. I know Gardnerville is a bit out-of-the-way. Most people reading this will probably never go there but, if you're ever in that area and you need tire service. I would absolutely stop in and talk to Angela, and the team are AMAZING

FELLOW WOMEN: BEWARE OF PREDATORY AUTO REPAIR TACTICS AND FRAUD…read more I'm sharing this because I was nearly scammed out of $4,000 simply because I don't have extensive knowledge about vehicle repairs. At the end of June, I took my truck to Big O Tires for a routine A/C tune-up. Shortly afterward, an employee named Chris called and claimed that my A/C compressor clutch had seized and insisted the repair would cost $4,000. He was incredibly pushy, repeatedly pressuring me to approve the repair and making it sound like there was no other option. He made it sound like he was doing me a favor. Fortunately, my fiancée urged me to get a second opinion before authorizing the work. I took my truck to Silver Star Automotive, where James performed his own inspection. James was honest, kind and incredibly knowledgeable. He explained everything in such a way that I actually understood how a/c works. His diagnosis was completely different. The compressor clutch was NOT seized. The actual issue was a small condenser leak, which he repaired and recharged with refrigerant for under $1,000. If I had trusted the first diagnosis, I would have spent more than $3,000 on a repair that another qualified mechanic determined my truck did not need. Afterward, I learned that Chris had previously served time in prison. I can't say whether that had anything to do with my experience, but knowing that, combined with the intense pressure to approve an unnecessary $4,000 repair, left me deeply disturbed. To every woman--and anyone who isn't familiar with cars--please don't let yourself be pressured into expensive repairs. Get a second opinion. Ask questions. Walk away if someone is trying to rush you into spending thousands of dollars. That second opinion saved me over $3,000. Ladies: you can trust James with Silver Star Automotive

Alexis was great at every step of the way: - He got my car in quickly (9am the next day). - He went out of his way to concretely identify the issue - which required pulling the carpet to identify that there was mold there, before he even gave a quote. - He put in the time to remediate the issue the right way - pulling the seats, removing the carpets, pulling the trim, etc - and he put it back together perfectly too - all while dealing with the (literally) toxic environment. - He went out of his way to clean parts of the car I hadn't even considered - for instance, he cleaned the engine bay (clearing out a mouse nest that was in there somehow too!). - He was extremely helpful at just every step along the way. I wish more business owners were like Alexis. And again, this is the absolute cleanest the car has ever been. It feels like a brand new vehicle. I asked him about a trailer we were trying to move, but we were concerned about the tires being bad since the trailer sat for three years. It was a hostile environment where it was located, so I was unable to see the tires to find out the size and how many lugnuts it had. I gave him this information, and he told me, "We don't get involved in those sorts of things." I was just asking what tires are standard on my RV. Then he said go look at Google. Really, what an A-hole. Very sad. Does the owner know this and accept it?
