However, this summer I picked up my dog on a Monday morning after a weekend trip and she was given back to me with the 8-stitches-wound that I've included. I noticed the wound within 20 seconds of leaving the building with my dog and immediately went back in for answers. The manager onsite said there was a scuffle that my dog started and that another dog had done it-- this under their "supervision" and after they handed me a report declaring with their signatures that my dog had behaved perfectly during her stay. I took my dog to the vet and had the wound taken care of by professionals. That was ~$800. On the Spot did not care to chip in for the medical expenses and coldly pointed to their liabilities waivers that covered them. Accidents happen, but this is poor business management and shows a disturbing lack of accountability. Know that for the price of a cheap kennel stay, you are risking your pet's safety under negligent staff and they won't give a damn to make things right after the fact. read more

Our dog is completely traumatized. His paws were bleeding and his nose has dry blood and scabs all around it. We were never told that he was trying to escape, they gave us a report card saying he was good the whole time. They hid the fact that he was INJURED. He has been sleeping ALL day since we picked him up. Whoever was working there said he was trying to get out of his kennel which is very unlike him. My dog also barked at one of the employees and my dog is a people person. I think he sensed danger and I wish we never let him stay there. Things started out great. Their prices are more than fair and our dogs seemed to like it but things went mostly down hill from there. We left our two dogs, Bear and Molly there for a weekend recently. We picked them up and were initially thrilled enough to pay for a few days of day care for our younger, more restless pup, Molly, so she could get some energy out. However, shortly after bringing the dogs home we noticed Bear was limping. Granted she is 12 years old so that's not entirely unexpected, but after further inspection we found two puss filled and scabbed over wounds which obviously had not been treated whatsoever. We took Bear to the vet who was concerned the wound may have already abscessed and prescribed some hefty antibiotics in the hopes of healing it. Much to the credit of On The Spot they consented to pay for the initial vet appointment and the antibiotics. However, despite our best efforts and the vets best efforts the wound became worse and required surgery as the infection remained and further abscessed. An additional $350 later, our sweet dog has 15 staples in her chest, a drain to help make sure the infection is entirely removed and a lovely cone. They as of yet refuse to assist with the most recent expenses, going as far as to suggest that either we or the vet are not properly taking care of the wound. All of this could have been prevented had they not completely missed our dogs injury and treated it, but it was evident the wound had gone days unnoticed due to their negligence. To be clear, my wife and I are not particularly upset the bite happened, that's difficult to prevent at times. What we find appaling is their lack of ability to observe a wound and treat it. They had no idea she was injured, talk about a gross lack of supervision. The fact that they are pushing the blame on us is disgusting. They were negligible. If you care about your animal, avoid this place at all cost. read more

Picked up my dog and her bed was soaking wet with urine. She has never peed on her bed. Another dog walked by and urinated on her bed or they left her there so long she urinated on her own bed. When we called there was no apology, no "what can we do to make things better." Instead we got a "I don't know what you want me to say" and hung up on us. I brought my dog Sadie to On the Spot regularly (at least once per week) for a year. I've since moved to Salt Lake, but I miss having the convenience to bring my dog somewhere she LOVES to go (I literally had to drag her out of On the Spot every week) and that is affordable/safe. The staff was always friendly and took care of my dog, and the open areas were great for my dog during the day rather than being cooped up indoors while I worked. + They offer a discount if you buy a pass for more than 1 day of day care or boarding + My dog always received a bath after boarding + The open play areas and boarding (rather than crates) was nice as I don't crate my dog at home. read more

We love this place! We take our dog, Jack, there every Saturday for a puppy social and we really love seeing our dog given the opportunity to interact with other dogs in an open area! We also used the grooming feature of On The Spot Pet Care just a few weeks ago and we were really impressed! We asked for an over all clean trim and they went to town on him! They did his nails, face, glands, bathed him, etc. we were in love!! The only thing I would recommend/encourage is better/strong smelling shampoo. Jack didn't smell bad when we got him but it wasn't shockingly great either. He just smelt like a subtle clean smell and it was acceptable to us! Disgusted by the gross NEGLIGENCE! My dog was RETURNED EMACIATED AND SICK after board my dog for 10 days. I chose On the Spot because I had used them for half day dog daycare while at school. I gave them detailed instructions on feeding along with a plastic cup with a 'fill to' line in the bag of dog food. When I returned to pick her up she was so emaciated I could see every vertebrae in her back. The bag of dog food had barely been touched. I took my normally 60lb dog to the vet to get weighed the next day and she had lost 8lbs in the 10 days she was at On the Spot. Furthermore, during her half day visits she would return home so thirsty she would drink a gallon of water at once. It is my belief they limit food and water to cut down on having to clean dog waste. read more

We were horrified by the care our dog received while at On The Spot. Our dog was dropped off on Friday and picked up Saturday evening. We noticed immediately he was not acting like himself, limping, not eating ect. He laid down and his paws were red and bleeding from being burnt so badly. Just picked up my dog from the groomers and as soon as she got in my car she pooped. Then when I got home she went straight to her water bowl and drank the whole thing. Threw it all up and went back to drink more once it was filled. I called and was informed that they do not let the dogs outside that are there to get groomed. They also don't water them because it will mess up their grooming job. My dog looks amazing and they did a great job on the grooming portion but not watering a dog because "her hair around her mouth would have gotten wet" is BULLSHIT. Like I said, my dog looks amazing but was not takin care of at On The Spot Pet CARE. read more

I wouldn't give this crap-hole 1 star. The new management is absolutely horrendous. I haven't experienced customer service (or lack of) like that in a long time. The two women running the office have changed policies in such a manner that neither your pet nor you are safe. When we talked to them about the problems we experienced, we got a glorified, "go screw yourself". These ladies have no idea how to run a business and certainly shouldn't be in charge of caring for your pet. I wouldn't even trust them with a pet rock. Want to spend money having your personal property ruined? Want to spend money thinking your furry family members are being taken care of but actually aren't? Then this is place for you. We have taken our cane corso here twice for boarding. We are pleased with the care she receives but are not satisfied that both times she has ended up with the flu or a severe cold. It is not kennel cough and she is up to date on her vaccinations. The vet bills are getting pricey and they will not pay for any of it or take responsibility. I wanted to like this place because it is close, they have good reviews and a friend knows them. The staff were very nice throughout but I am afraid my dog came out of there with the ugliest haircut I could imagine. He is a 6 month old Havanese which is a long silky haired breed. I was nervous to begin with when the worker started talking to me about what length I would like him shaved. He also seemed to be confused on the breed as he kept calling him a Shih Tzu after I told him repeatedly he was Havanese. I explained I wanted them to just even up his long hair and remove some mats that had formed around his neck and ear. He had been recently neutered and had to wear a cone for two weeks and it was pretty tough on his hair. The night before I spent some time with him having finally gotten the ok to remove the cone from the vet and brushing out his mats. I removed about 80% and figured the remainder would need to be carefully clipped out. I was pretty confident I could do this myself but thought a professional groomer would have more experience making it look less noticeable. I got a call mid day saying they had to shave the mats out and would I just like him totally shaved so it would look even. I came down to the shop to see what was going on and found they had shaved a large portion of his neck and the back of his ear to the skin to remove the mats. The rest of his coat was still beautiful but now he had this horrible hole. I was disgusted and suspected that it was the result of a busy day and a desire for a quick solution, even though I was paying top dollar price. I asked if they could taper it in some way. They suggested a few options and I left with the instructions to leave him as much hair as possible but make the shaved portion blend in. I came to pick him up and found him shaved to the skin all over except his ears and tail which had comparatively, ridiculously long hair. What was worse is the shave wasn't even with sprigs of longer hair all over. One ear has the back shaved while the other does not. He looks like a sickly creature from a rescue program instead of an AKC registered purebred. The groomer volunteered that the cut wasn't very even but if I wanted to bring him in tomorrow she would even it up. I paid about $50 for the horrible cut and left. I don't think I want to return even to have them fix the poor shave job. Now it will take months to regrow his coat. So in conclusion I give them two stars for being very nice throughout and treating the dogs well. If you have a dog that basically just needs a shave once in a while this place might do for you. If you have any breed that has a long coat they don't seem to have a clue how to care for it. I would say that they are just not very competent groomers in general. As a reference I had him trimmed at PetCo a few months earlier with a few mats that were almost as bad and they did a fine job. I thought that grooming operation was nothing special but apparently it's a cut above these guys. read more

There were some dogs that looked a bit spooked so that worried me a little but my girl puppy came out just fine: happy and clean, and my boy puppy didn't seem to have a problem with the people there either and was actually playful with the staff. Dropped our large dog off for a half day of play... after about 3hrs we received a call that they had found a cut/wound on her shoulder. We arrived shortly after to get her and check things out. she had a hole in her shoulder about the size of a nickel.. the person at OTS told us she must have had it before we dropped her off ... my dog is 90lbs and solid white... i would have noticed a hole in her shoulder and blood leaking out. Rushed her to the vet and they confirmed that is was a dog bite thou the tech at OTS said she was never is a fight and did not know how it happened. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE!!! I recently started taking my dog there for daycare. I was worried about how he would interact with the other dogs (learning to greet dogs and socialize with them is something we've been working on). I've been to other places that require your dog be super obedient and friendly. They were so nice and accepting and assured me after his first day how well he did. I like that even just after the first day they knew is and welcomed my dog by name. My only issue is the hours. They open right at 8 and luckily my job is okay if I'm late. But it would be nice if they were open a bit earlier so that I could drop him off and make it to work on time. Other than that I honestly would recommend them to anyone! read more

Our Maltipoo had some serious matting that needed attention. My sister recommended On The Spot to us. After reading the reviews posted here and elsewhere I was a little apprehensive, but decided to give them a shot, after all this is the land of opportunity. The location is in an old house. After entering the front door there is another gate to open before reaching the desk, thus eliminating the possibility of pets escaping when the from door is opened. The location didnt stink or smell of urine. The young woman was very helpful and upon inspection warned me that she would have to trim the coat very short due to matting. She told me it would take about 4 hours and 4 hours later we picked up our dog. Our dog was safe, clean, trimmed and happy. The cost was exactly what we were told, and the time frame was also exact. I like the way on the spot treated my pets but I have stopped going there. The last few times I went in they told me they would not groom my dogs unless they got all kinds of shots $$$. I talked to my vet and she told me that the shots they were pushing were not required and actually may be harmful. The only shot required by law is a rabies shot. read more

I love this place! I have taken my cat there for a bath and to get her claws clipped. They did a great job and best of all, I love how they handled my cat. It seems that dogs are their specialty as every time I have been there - there are a lot of dogs. Most importantly though, they seem to care about retaining me as a customer because they have frequently allowed me to just drop in and get my cats claws clipped without an appointment and WITHOUT CHARGING ME! Amazing! I have spent a small fortune on this cat at the Lehi Animal Hospital and when I have asked them if they wouldn't mind clipping her two back paws, they want me to make an appt and charge me $15. I have been to On the spot pet care for grooming a few times and after today's experience I won't ever go back. I have never written a review or complained before but this place is not safe for your dogs. 1. The store had a very strong odor of pet poop. 2. I gave very simple instructions on how I wanted my dog groomed. Last time they totally shaved all the hair off of ears without letting me know. 3. Today when I picked her up the hair cut was not right. They shaved her body when I asked for it not to be, plus the hair is uneven and she doesn't even smell as if they ever gave her a bath. 4. When I questioned what they did the staff was rude, mean and condescending. I was told to bad here is your dog and pay $55.00 bucks When I asked questions they got very mad. When I told them there is chunks of cut hair in her tail they said oh well.(they wouldn't even comb it out) All they want to do is cut your dogs hair as fast as they can so they can move on to the next one like a assembly line. I feel very confident boarding my Rhodesian with On the Spot. She plays so hard and has so much fun, she is exhausted when she comes home. She gets very excited when I drop her off. Tanner, at the front desk, is amazing. He is always willing to go the extra mile to ensure Nandi gets the same care she would at home; and she gets a free bath! My mom and I just boarded our dogs there for 5 days and we are very happy with the care they received. Their grooming is excellent. I bring my German shepherd puppy to daycare here several times a week when I have a long day at work. She loves it here so much that she gets excited when she sees where I'm driving! I knew I was going to have a crazy few days at work so I decided to try putting my 6 month old crazy hyper puppy in the Doggy Daycare. I was super nervous leaving him for the full day because he had never been to anything like this.. I dropped him off and the staff let me watch him for a few minutes to help him settle in, they answered all my 500 questions, and assured me that they would call me with any issues. When picking him up the staff remembered mine and my dogs names (such a good personal touch!) and had him up by the desk by the time I made it in the door. They gave me a review of how he did for the day and I was on my way within a few minutes. My dog was an ANGEL the rest of the night and even the next morning before I took him back to daycare. He loves playing with the dogs, loves the friendly staff, and gets so excited when I say "daycare" or start driving down to road to the store. We love On The Spot! read more
