FANTASTIC And VERY ENTERTAINING! Wife and I had been wanting to see this show since it came out and it did not disappoint us! I grew up listening to the MSM/G. Estefan music in the 80's and always loved its unique sound! The show itself takes you right back to those days! I do not want to spoil the show for anyone but I will let you know that if you are thinking about seeing this show, think no more and GO! Great show! A recount of their lives, struggles and triumphs. The music and dancing kept us shaking our bodies on our seats. The boy, Eduardo Hernandez is a pint size dynamite dancer. Gloria( young) has a very good voice. The show is a HIT!!!!! Another one for the Estefan. The theater isn't too disable friendly. Too many stairs. On your feet wow! You had me go through a rollercoaster of emotions. I laughed, teared, and got on my feet. I didn't really know what this story was about, I kind of just went blindsided. And I've seen several shows now and hands down this one has been my favorite. Go see this show and be blown away. I loved everything about it. Best choice ever. The theater is small but beautiful. OK - go see this show! It's definitely worth it! This show is not as popular as most others at the theater district, I believe you have more chance to win lottery tickets. My friend and I got $40 a ticket with outstanding seats in orchestra. So just try the digital lottery and good luck!! We don't have much background knowledge about the stories but both of enjoy it. I came in and expect lots of dancing in this show. It did, BUT this show is outstanding not only for its dancing part but also for every other part! The cast is amazing - professional, funny, emotional, and energetic! I don't think this show is as popular as other Broadway shows, so they give away A LOT of lottery tickets. I arrived to pick up my tickets around 15 minutes before the show and the line had 20+ people in it (so if you enter the lottery, expect to win. The seats are also UNOBSTRUCTED orchestra seats - a rarity for lottery tickets, it seems!). That being said, if you're a fan of Gloria Estefan or the Miami Sound Machine, you'll be entertained during this musical. The lead who plays Gloria is PERFECT for the part. I thought the musical did a good job at summarizing Gloria's life - from the happy to the sad. All of the actors also do stage door (and are so nice!), so yayyyy for that! read more

Where to start???? For one, 5 STARS!!!!! So you really don't even need to read this review anymore. But go go go! The cast is amazing and embodied Gloria Estefan and Emilio Estefan amazingly well. She literally looked just like young Gloria Estefan. The plot was a little bit of everything- love, music, happiness, tears, laughter, emotions! The theatre itself is nice, clean and well kept. The seats are incredibly close together and if anyone leaves their seat, everyone they pass have to stand. So only little downside but otherwise great. No food is served, just drinks in cute take home souvenir sippy cups haha The cast is interactive and upbeat! A great energy and a great show for a date or girls night. On Your Feet was SUCH a fun Broadway musical. While I knew a few of Gloria Estefan's songs, I didn't know much about her career development or love story. However, I was blown away with the upbeat singing and dancing and captivated by the story line. There was never a dull moment where I felt bored or the plot was dragging. I learned so much about the songstress and was able to appreciate her music that much more. The production of the show was also well done. There were much more set and set changes that I am accustomed to in other Broadway shows. The story of Gloria and Emillio assimilating to American society and amalgamating their Cuban culture also came at poignant time with the current immigration and discrimination issues in the real world. read more

I saw On Your Feet! during previews and I'm pretty shocked at how damn good it is! I wouldn't call myself a fan of Gloria Estefan or anything, but took a chance on seeing it because my mom wanted to see it. And really, how can you *not* like Gloria Estefan, right? I also expected that live, that music would be infectious to say the least. And I was so so right. Some Broadway shows bore me to tears. Some (most Andrew Lloyd Weber offerings) are so cornball sentimental, and over the top spectacle-driven, that you leave pretty emotionless and vowing to never do Broadway again. But then there are shows that have you thinking, "that really was worth that 200 dollar ticket price!" because it stars, say, Bernadette Peters or Neil Patrick Harris or Alan Cummings (sigh). And then there are the shows where a cast of unknowns blow you away. On Your Feet is this kind of show. I truly admire the cast, the production and the music is just phenomenal (after all, members of the Miami Sound Machine are playing). I have a new kind of respect for Ms. Estefan (again, it's not that I ever didn't like her, but now I'm kinda like, wow, this chick is pretty damn cool). My favorite part of the show is when they did a flashback to the days of her mama performing in a truly riveting Cuban jazz number. It absolutely blew me away. I'm definitely not a fan of Estefan's pop ballads, but hearing and seeing the dance songs live is really a great experience. I don't think I've ever seen a crowd so appreciative either. Aw, we had so much fun! The show was great. I took my daughter as a present after she made the jr. honor society, and I'm glad I did. She didn't know much of the music because she's 13, but she fell in love with it and loved the storyline. Ana Villafañe, who plays Gloria Estefan, was fantastic. Doreen Montalvo almost stole the show as Gloria Fajardo. The audience really loved the show no matter what their age. Children, adults, seniors, and a group of Nuns were on their feet, singing and dancing along. If you're looking for a feel-good, American success story of a show, this is it. Enjoy! read more

What a fun show! This show exceeded my expectations. I didn't know how entertaining it was. I won the online lottery tickets and so did my family. 40 dollars! If you go early to pick up your tickets, you could get orchestra seats. The music was great and the band was fantastic. This show makes you want to get up and dance. I have been waiting to see this musical from the moment I read years ago that Gloria & Emilio were even thinking of doing this. The years of waiting did not disappoint. I have seen the play twice already (previews & live) and I enjoyed it the second time around just as much as the first time. The cast is incredible between the singing, dancing, music and the way they capture the audience. I laughed I cried I danced. What more can I want? I have even had the opportunity to meet most of the cast [except Ana] after each show to get my playbill signed and take pictures..everyone is SO NICE specially Josh so willing to talk to the fans and take pictures with everyone. Last Saturday (04/30/16 matinée at 2 P.M.), I took my mom to see "On Your Feet!" for an early Mothers' Day present. I LOVED IT! The songs of Gloria Estefan brought back sweet and bittersweet memories of the 1980s and 1990s for me. The lead that day was NOT the principal actress, but she was more than capable in capturing my imagination of "being" Gloria. I really liked the actor who played Emilio Estefan; and I especially liked the seasoned actresses who played Gloria's mom and grandmom, respectively. If you like pop songs, salsa dancing, and Cuban flair, you'll certainly enjoy this very warm, touching, love story of hope and family. read more

I'll just say if the music on my iTunes was a line graph with the number of Gloria Estefan songs on the y-axis and progressive years on the x-axis, there will have been a spike of one song around 2010, a plateau for seven years, and then the GREATEST BOOM OF ALL TIME in 2017 consisting of eight additional songs, not including "On Your Feet!" versions. I always liked her songs as a kid, but they were always relegated to car rides with my mom listening to adult contemporary radio and occasionally flipping to VH1 if there were commercials on MTV. But wow, after watching On Your Feet!, I think I'm a new fan! I'll say that I am a tourist from LA and my local brother told me he was signing me up for all these lotteries available for various Broadway shows to get discount tickets for good seats. We kept winning this one and my bro and sis-in-law said it was great, but I kept refusing. Also, I'm a brat, so if it wasn't Hamilton, then NOTHIN' DOIN'. But last minute, I agreed, and went by myself, AND WHAT THE EFF, this musical was AMAAAAZZZZZINGG!! The story, the music, the sets, the diversity in cast, and THE HEART of this musical---I will urge all LA tourists who visit to put this on your Broadway list. Some of the greatness has to do with the fact that you will recognize many of the songs. Even if you don't, you'll still love the music. They are all catchy and with the new arrangements they've done for them and the beautiful singing, the lyrics take on new meaning. I personally loved the male lead, Ektor Rivera's voice (he plays Emilio Estefan). I'll be honest, other than Wicked, about 3/4 of the songs in musicals I'm MEH about except for the popularized ones, but since these songs were pop hits and super catchy, the music was really easy to listen to. And somehow all of the songs fit in the the musical perfectly. The story, which is based off of her and her husband's real lives, was fantastic! Although I'm sure it's dramatized and played up for the stage, her life is truly an amazing story of following your dream, luck, perseverance, fate, success, sadness, loss, and strength of character and body. I know, it sounds generic, but I'm serious, the way they've done it, IT'S NOT, you'll see. It's crazy how perfect the story is for a Broadway musical. Oh yeah! And the set design and how the set moves and flows is surprisingly impressive. Bravo! Finally, I'm just giving a thumbs up to this musical for helping to provide such diversity on Broadway! I will say that I've only watched about 10 Broadway plays and musicals (both popular and less known) in my life and I've slightly fallen asleep during the middle parts in all of them except Wicked. But I was engaged the ENTIRE TIME in this musical. It truly does have heart. It may not look flashy, but put it on your Broadway list, my fellow LA tourists. Or wait until 2018 as I think it's coming to LA at some point. OH AND IF YOU DON'T WANT ALL YOUR NIGHTMARES TO COME TRUE IN ONE NIGHT, DO NOT SIT ALONG THE AISLES. Best of all, the dancing & choreography is worth the price of the tickets. It really helps if you grew up in the 80's and know a little about Gloria Estefan's music. What captures the interest in this lively and entertaining play is the way Cuba and it's culture is depicted. Seen through the eyes of a young Emilio Estefan, Gloria Estefan and her family, played by Anna Villafane and Ektor Rivera, we live through the Batista years and the coming of Castro and communism. In the first act - the difference this play has with others like it is the close family connection. Gloria's mother, Doreen Montalvo, a great singer herself, is vehemently against Gloria becoming a singing star. She's rather that Gloria become a psychologist and start a family. The grandmother however, played by Alma Cuervo, funny and acerbic, gives Gloria the strength and resolve to follow her dreams. We learn that Gloria's father suffers from cerebral Palsy and that Gloria's mother's dream of becoming a singer was dashed by the Cuban politics. The second act has many poignant moments. Gloria takes her sister from the family and puts her on the road leaving her mother not speaking to her anymore. Gloria and Emilio become the Miami Sound Machine and produce and perform many hits. Very funny moments of how they learn to negotiate with their agent and using their agent. TRAGEDY strikes when their bus hits a truck and Gloria needs spinal surgery. No fluffing the facts. they bring it all out in very tender scenes. the mother comes flying back to her and makes peace with Emilio as well. Touching and heartfelt. The SONGS - well, we know most of them: Don't want to lose you now, Get on you feet, Turn the beat around, Rhythm is gonna get you - they're all great and the stars and enthusiastic and joyous cast delivers. The SET DESIGN by David Rowland, is spectacular with scenes popping up almost instantaneously and the eye can never wander. Choreography by Sergio Trujillo makes you feel Latin all night. I love it when older Jewish ladies dance in their seats. Director Jerry Mitchell and the producers deserve applause. See it - there are plenty of tickets. read more

We went to the matinee today as a gift to our parents when they visited NYC. It was worth the trip! The theater is a bit strange. Upon arrival, we had to literally go through the Marriott Marquis Marquee hotel to an upper floor to enter. The view from our Mezzanine seats was not spectacular and the acoustics did not carry that well to the top. Outside of that, the show was a great time. I am a big fan of 80s music, and while not a Gloria Estefan fan per say, the show had a great energy. The first act was especially entertaining and high energy. The actress that played Gloria had an incredible voice and the rest of the cast made me feel like I was in Miami with them. I would highly recommend this show to anybody who is into 80s/Latino music, or likes musicals with good dance beats. For an added treat, sit in the first 5 rows on the aisle and there is one number where the cast comes out into the crowd and grabs some people to dance with them! read more

There is no trip to NYC without visiting Broadway. Thanks to my kids we were able to see a great show. The story of Gloria Estefan - her life, her music (and I do remember all the news about accident) - it's all in the show. The view from mezzanine was adequate (it was matinee on Sunday and the place was not full), and the music was rocking all the Latin beats, people were dancing in the isles. One of the best Broadway shows out there. If you want to get up, dance and be On Your Feet! This is where you come and get just that. My boyfriend took me here for our anniversary and it was truly the best gift, I laughed, cried and at the end wanted to get up and dance my way to the club and dance Salsa all night. The Gloria and Emilio Estefan story is intriguing from beginning to end, you get to see how and why they ended up in Miami and their up and downs throughout their careers. From family, love and friendship you get captivated by how much music unites the Estefan's and the audience. I loved every part of it especially in the end when they get us on our feet. I don't want to say much because I don't want to ruin any part of the show but do try to get the best seats for the best experience. read more

We had such high expectations for this production and the actors /singers were excellent but the story line was choppy and very self serving. When did you get married? The speaking was also way too soft. While the songs brought back good memories so much could be left out and so much more could be put in. We were left wondering what happened at times. One scene just did not blend with the next and was hard to follow. All in all show was very disappointing. My sister, wife, and I brought my mother to see the show today knowing it will be going of Broadway unfortunately for her birthday. IT WAS AMAZING!!! We grew up with her music and its embedded in our childhood. Watching the show was like watching a well produced movie of their lives. The whole second half of the show we were in tears. I was dancing in my seat, singing along, and had a smile on my face the whole time because it just made me feel so good. I enjoyed the music (Gloria estefan really had a lot of hits), and the dancing. I went midweek and it was surprisingly empty (so i would suggest getting tickets mid week if you want to slip into seating with better views). The story and acting was a little light - I though it was more a story of gloria and emilio than her struggle with her mom. Of course, it is probably unrealistic to expect all the real dirt when the person the show is about is still living and making the final decision on what gets shown. This show incorporates a little bit of every emotion that we can all relate to somehow. You will experience touching, heartfelt moments and when the scene changes you will then feel ecstatic to see them flourish during one of their milestones. Not only were you watching a show but at the same time it felt as if you were in a Gloria Estefan concert. Gloria, I love love love you! This show however... no. Just so much no. Let's start with the actors. The lead had a nice voice and did pretty well. The dude who played Emilio though, my only guess is that he has got to be someone's brother/cousin/something because he was plain awful. He is gorgeous, I will give him that. But otherwise, we could hardly hear his mumbling and got a strong feeling that the actor would really rather be anywhere else than on stage. The best part though, were the 2 girls right behind us singing at the top of their lungs the entire show, screaming in Spanish during the speaking segments to the actors on stage and overall being totally obnoxious. I knew all of the words too, but being not a jerk and all, knew it wasn't appropriate to shout the lyrics for all to hear. What could have been an amazing show really took a turn for the worse at every opportunity. Not sure how this is still running and Newsies isn't. Dissapointing. read more

One of the best Broadways I have ever seen. The entire show, I was fighting my hips from dancing on their own. The lead actress who played Gloria Estefan not only resembled a young Gloria but her voice was comparable as well. Along with all of the amazing voices throughout the cast comes a clever, laugh out loud dialogue mixed with tear inducing situations that tug at the heart strings. A true emotional roller coaster of a show. The theater is pretty small so no matter where you sit you should have a good view of the stage. I didn't know much about Gloria's life but this show made me a fan of not only her music but the way she lived her life as well. Highly recommended! read more

I also learned about her life through the news and reading about her in articles. This woman that played the part as Gloria Estefan could not have done a better job. I thought that Gloria was channeling her voice and life through her and bringing it to the audience. What a great way to bring to story of Gloria and Emilio to life for the world to see. I hope to be able to soon bring my parents and future in-laws to see this masterpiece to be able to enjoy what my fiancé and I just experienced. What a phenomenal show! I wasn't a big Gloria Estefan fan, but after watching the show and seeing Ana Villafane and Josh Segarra perform as Gloria and Emilio, I have a newfound respect for the Estefans'. The music is familiar to all, and the latin influence, costumes and story lines can be enjoyed by people from all ages and backgrounds. I went to see this with 4 other women and they all enjoyed it very much. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the actual theatre, which was a little too big. There were times it was difficult to hear the actors on the stage, but this was minor. I can't wait to see the show again. read more

I wish I could give it more stars!! What an amazing show!!! As a Cuban-American I was skeptical when my mom's friends got us tickets to go see this show on Broadway. Let me tell you, this has been one of my favorite Broadway shows and an amazing portrayal of the Estefan family, Cubans and Hispanics everywhere. The atmosphere was great, everyone was up dancing. Not the most boring show I've seen, but close. Two very good musical numbers, both with upbeat Latin rhythms, one to end Act 1 and the other to end Act 2. Unfortunately the rest of the show was the extremely boring story of Estefan's struggle to get recorded (no different than a thousand other artists), and her recovery from back surgery (also no different than a thousand other similar stories). Estafan's music is good; the show should have focused on that. If you think you're going to get a couple hours of great Gloria Estefan music, you're not; maybe 20 minutes of good music, and an hour and a half of boredom. read more

Went to see this with some friends. I was skeptically about it at first but the show was outstanding. The cast was lively, energetic, fun and looked like they were having a great time. The choreography was great and so was the singing. Little Emilio wowed the crowd with his dancing skills. I never knew that much about Emilio and Gloria (even though I'm sure some of it is stretched) but I loved the production. Happy that I went.
