I came here recently to buy a jacket for my newborn since I hate to pay full price on an item he will outgrow rapidly. They did have a wide selection and the store was relatively well organized. The service is the real downside to the store. I went to the counter and there were several workers there but took them awhile to come up to help me. Also they don't offer bags for your items so you have to carry them out. I ended up returning one of my items and the return process was about the same for service- also it took several days for my return to be delivered to my bank. read more

The customer service at this location is always bare minimum. Every time I've been here when I'm ready to check out I am left feeling like I am imposing on the workers from stopping what they're currently doing. Buying items, tagging items, sorting. Well once upon a child is an interesting place this one is chock full of tons of clothes for kids. They had just put out all the coats and snow pants. I try and get my daughters snow pants hear as the are very inexpensive. You never know how winter will turn out so I hate to pay a lot. Service is mainly self serve. It would be hard to give them much better of a review as the store is a mess. The line to check out is very long and slow moving. In the end you get a decent deal but it's all used clothes and items. They have some toys too. One item of note they will always have summer items in stock so if your going to The Caribbean in January and you kids need shorts they will have some. In terms of selling I had every intention off of loading my sons outgrown items. You don't get much for them but something is better than nothing in my book and it is way better than the big consignment sales where most of your items don't sell anyways. Also a great place for dresses ie easter Xmas where you will only wear it once. They have a ton of these in all sizes cheap and when your done you can bring it back. Dear instant gratification moms, The ladies that work at OUAC, do just that, work for minimum wage. I probably wouldn't be very friendly to any of you impatient mothers either. So, stop your complaining about how long it takes to sell your stuff. Just drop it off and pick up your money or unwanted items later in the day or the next day. And... no, I am not a stay at home mom with too much time on my hands and am not related to any owners of any OUAC, just tired of people complaining about trivial events. I have bought here several times, and sold here as well. This past weekend the kind woman explained that they give you 50% of what they will sell it for. Although this is a good deal for things your child has already worn... it's not ideal for the clothes that are new. I did decline the last sale, and they were kind and understanding. read more

This place pisses me off every time I come here and try to sell my boys' stuff!!! I wrk on gathering the stuff for weeks, and the stuff I bring is in season, and in great shape!!!!! I also always do a swap and I sell to gather new clothing or shoes for my kids and they still reject things that I know are in style!!!! The buyers vary so much and they say my stuff is damaged or too worn and I know they are not!!!! I won't ever come here again!!!! Or even bother collecting stuff for this place!!! read more

I'm not a big fan of stores like this because I tend to panic when there's so much to look through. They had an amazing sale though and I couldn't resist getting my girls some like new cloths for the summer. For there to be such a big sale they were very organized and neat. There's plenty of room in each isle that you don't feel cramped and I was able to take my time and not feel rushed. I can here once before about 6 or 7 months ago and it was a little rough experience and the floors were so slushy because of the rain and mud. Might be better if they get carpet. Just my opinion though. Overall good experience will come here again when I have my shopping crew together again or if they have another big sale! read more

BE careful before sell your kid's clothing here. I left a huge tote of expensive boy's clothing, Vineyard Vines, Polo, etc. to be priced and got a $5.00 store credit with no option to take them back. They said they would text me with an amount as they were too busy to do it on the spot. They NEVER texted me. I called them a week or so later to see what the amount be. They told me that I had a store credit of $5.00 and no option to come back and get them. Apparently, in their terms and conditions (which I admit I didn't read) if you don't come back the same day, they automatically issue a store credit. I should have donated to Goodwill. Love this place! I get the majority of my kids clothes here. I go stock up at the start of each season. It is best for baby/toddler clothes. My daughter is 6, and I still find some things for her... but the selection is best for babies. I would never pay "name brand" "mall store" prices for baby clothes. But here I can get those brands for $10 or less. If you are selling items, be prepared to drop your items off and return later. They are usually slammed with people selling. They also do not buy everything you bring in. So don't expect that to happen. Also, you don't get big money for the items. I usually just take it in a store credit and turn around and buy new stuff for the kids. read more

I will NEVER use this place again! They say they'll send you a text when your items are ready after they've been reviewed... but if you don't get there in time (because no text was sent) they will "donate" your items. Mind you this is less than 48 hours of dropping off your items (think baby gap, old navy, cat & jack). Customer service here is a joke. Would it not cross the minds to maybe reach out to the person to make sure they've received the text? What if they had an emergency and calling to tell the store to hold your items wasn't on top of your priority list. And less than 48 hours and you "donate" the items.... OH "donate" as in THROW AWAY ALL ITEMS! Think of all the kids who actually could use these items left if they were actually donated!!! Support the smaller consignment shops in the area! read more

Do NOT purchase items from this location without first checking to see if a recall was issued for the item. This location SELLS RECALLED ITEMS! I purchased the Jeep Liberty Limited Urban All Terrain Jogging Stroller from this location on 06.14.2014 for $80.25. We have used the stroller for this past year without knowing that there was a recall on it. In fact, it was not brought to my attention until we recently tried to sale the stroller in a garage sale and a customer stated that she used to have the exact same stroller and many models were recalled and she had to go through the hassle of obtaining the replacement parts, etc. She asked if the stroller was part of the recall or if we were lucky enough to not have purchased the recalled model. Obviously I was unaware of the recall since we bought the item used, so I said I did not know but would look into it. So we took the stroller out of the garage sale and researched the item. This stroller had a recall that was released in JUNE 2013- long before I purchased it in June 2014. To be clear- 5 different models that included 96,000 strollers that also resulted in injuries- were involved in the recall. Not a small oversight on the part of OUC in South Indy. Be aware when shopping there and be sure to check for recalls when purchasing any item other than clothing from the Once Upon a Child in South Indianapolis, because obviously the staff is too busy overpricing their items to be meticulous about safety. We were the 2nd in line to sell clothing, and by the time they get to ours they don't even look the just start throwing things to the side without even looking at them... They are rude!!! I like this store. It's usually packed and trashed. It takes forever just to sell items. Only good thing about it is that they donate what they dont buy so you don't have to lug it all back home. I refuse to go back there. I been there for years and today was the worst experince ever. I even witness there employees through out toys that were donated and i went through them before hand there was nothing wrong with them. Throw them away. We asked if we could take them to actually donate them they said no and pitched them. There so many kids with nothing really. It was totes of little tikes toys even little people. DO NOT DONATE THERE take them to a shelter. I have a hard time taking my time because I feel that I am always blocking the isle to where no one else can get through! There store is small but they have a good selection of clothing. Staff is helpful and I love there new location on W 10th St. Its closer to me so I shop there a lot more now. I have only bought from this store and have tried to sell things only once. Not because my experience was bad but they are already so fully stocked that they weren't really buying clothing at that time. I would much rather have a store that is overtly picky about buying than a store that would buy anything, including junk. Overall I am very pleased and satisfied with this store. read more

This store states they are FCFS, but this is not how they go about things in this store. I checked in at 10:06 and had three people who checked in after me that were done first.
