Out of all the OUAC's I've shopped and sold at, this is the absolute worst. I've gone there 5x and not once successfully sold. They don't have a computer system and are writing things down on slips of paper, only to lose them. They don't take your contact information, no text system, nothing. It's like this one single Once Upon a Child is stuck in 1980, while all the others in the area are 2026. I've called ahead to make sure they have a selling spot available before I drive 40 minutes there - They said yes, but I couldn't reserve a spot, so it got filled by the time I arrived. I've come close to opening - it would be a wait until 6-7PM with no guarantees it would even be done the same day. I came in once and said I had only 4 hours in the area, asking if it was possible, and they said yes. One small bin of 10-12 clothing pieces and a diaper pail. Took my stuff and info and told me to come back at 1pm. By the way - the person selling before me? Didn't ask for his ID, even though he was selling for the first time. Me? Asked for my ID and wrote it down on a slip of paper (i.e. my personal identifying information just sitting around for anyone, not secured in any way). I came back at 1PM as requested (actually, 1:20 to give them more time) and my stuff was sitting in the exact same place as when I dropped it. They looked at each other, confused, and just said, uh, well... we didn't do it. That was it. No offer of a different time, nothing. I just laughed, took my stuff and left. Unlike some other stores, they don't give you 24h to collect your payout/items - it has to be that same day, no matter how late they finish going through your items. I guess this place would be fine to sell to if you didn't have a job or any other commitments, or maybe if you lived like 3 blocks away so you could just hang out and wait for them all day/night. read more

So my last review was 6 years ago. I went yesterday on a Sunday it was 2:45pm they close at 6. I wanted to sell some kids clothes my husband and I went inside carrying the bags and the girl at the counter told us they are quoted out for the day. They won't be going through our items. Mind you we drive from Richmond 45 mins away since there isn't a closer location. I asked if I can just drop off and come back and pick up. She said no it's same day only. Which to me is bs they've never done that before I've never been told that they're quoted out for the day and I've never been told we couldn't drop off. It says under new management outside so maybe that's why it's changed. So probably not even worth going all the way over there anymore. read more

I didn't think the business could actually get wore with a new ownership and it did! On a weekday they told me that it would take 6 hours to go through my one bag and I had to come back at 7 pm and couldn't come back the next day. I will never again everyone that works there is rude. Morgan and Timara went beyond the call of duties to assist me finding my baby bed, and stroller. Very kind and professional. One them even carried the stroller to car which was park quite distance from the store The stroller and portable bed were priced very very well and the both work excellently. I used to love coming here. But as of lately the quality of the selection has tanked and the store is overcrowded and just a mess. There's stuff everywhere, no sort of organization. Empty hangers all of the store, bathroom is disgusting, toy section is crazy.....The girl that helped me today was very nice but then there were 4 other girls behind the counter that seemed to be a little lost. 5 employees for such a small store on a Sunday seems a little overkill.....In my opinion the whole vibe of the store is different. Went to but in a buy here yesterday. Got there at 11 am and was told I'd have to come back at 5 to pick it up. Long wait but understandable. I come back at 5 and my buy still isn't completed. The girl in the front is on the phone trying to explain to someone what kind of stroller I brought in. Telling her it doesn't fold down. I explain to her that I brought it in and I could show her how to fold it. So I did. A few mins go by and my buy still isn't complete. So I shop around. This store isn't my favorite. It's kinda dingy. The clothes just look wrinkly and dirty. Anyways, I finally go up and ask how long it's going to be. She says she's almost done. Another 10 mins and I finally get my buy completed. I take the leftovers home and went through them. The separated sets and didn't take some of the really nice stuff, while the store is filled with Walmart brands and just a bunch of outdated clothes. I did get a decent amount for my items but the service and lack of knowledge of the items they are buying will probably keep me from coming back read more

If I was able to give a 0 I would! The customer service here is trash and so unorganized! I never been to this store and I definitely won't be back. They don't take donations and they definitely don't really explain the process of the whole item drop offs. They schedule you a certain time and expect you to wait around all day! Ridiculous. You're better off taking your items to Moments Shared Children's Consignment Store in Vallejo. Least you get store credit right away and the process is pretty easy and smooth read more

My experience was unpleasant Due to sales associates, extreme rudeness. I brought in Around seven clothing items, And she promptly asked if that was all. After confirming, She Stated Despite the 8PM closing time, They would Not accept more items that day And advised me to return at 9 AM. Additionally, she mentioned A 1 PM cut off for the item acceptance. I requested a one time acceptance due to my long commute, But she refused. Upon Asking to speak to her supervisor, She identified herself as the manager. The poor service etiquette was surprising. Shady. Slimy. Rude. And just a disaster! I called on the phone from my car after seeing the sign on the door that said they weren't accepting items anymore. They proceeded to say due to unfortunate circumstances they won't be accepting anymore. As I'm sitting there I watch a lady with bags full of stuff walk in and they accepted her to sell after just telling me no. Of course I went in with my bags and they said fine they'll accept but I'll have to come back at 7:30pm, it was 10:30am. After all that, they offer me $16 for multiple brand new unopened perfect condition toys and clothes etc. Lol! Just a complete scam and waste of time! LOL. I used to buy and sell here all the time but it seems that since new management has taken over I've noticed a significant decrease in what they pay for items. They're a lot pickier with items they buy as well, yet have items for sale that have pilling, stretched out, and dirty and the staff is disengaged. NEVER COME and sell your kids / baby items. They will literally give you 15% only ! We came to sell 4 big items an HOUR away from where we live, unused items that literally costs above $100 at a retail store. And they gave us back $98 only. They truly robbed the prices. It's hard reselling baby items as is, so for them to only want to buy everything for less than $100 is upsetting. I don't recommend reselling anything here. They will price items in their store for more than what they give you back. On top of that you have to come super early maybe even before they open the store to even be able to sell your items or else they will tell you you didn't make it that day to sell. Clothing options are fantastic, but the service there is none when I walked in. No one greeted me. They were all within their own I heard language that should not be spoken in a children's store when I got to the register I had to ask I needed to check out because they were so enthralled in their own me even when they pointed to the register the woman behind the register had earphones in and back to me so I still had to wait for to notice that I was standing there. I made the drive all the way from Martinez after calling ahead on two separate occasions to ask about the consignment process. Both times, I was told "the earlier the better" but no one mentioned there was a strict cut-off time for accepting items. I arrived just after 1:30 PM--well before closing which is today at 8PM, and was told they were no longer accepting items for the day. Didn't care at all the fact drove from Martinez which was about 49 minute drive and bridge toll. The girl, the gunner literally looked at me like oh well, and the girl behind her who was dealing with the items I assume that were dropped off. She looked at me before the other girl helped me gave me a Half smile. She heard me talk to the other girl cause there was no other customers around.. I will gladly take my business somewhere else. This could've been definitely specified in one of the two conversation I had when called the two days prior. I completely understand being busy, ( when I popped in they were not busy one Customer and her child left. I was the only one anywhere near the front besides the two girls behind the counter ) but clearer communication would have saved me the time, gas, and frustration. Even a sign at the counter or more accurate info on the phone would've made a difference. Disappointed with the lack of transparency and consideration on either girls behind the counter. I've always enjoyed shopping here, but since the new owner took over, the atmosphere has changed for the worse. She is often very rude and aggressive toward her staff, which makes the store uncomfortable to shop in. Employees deserve to be treated with respect, and it's upsetting to see them spoken to in that way. read more

I absolutely love this place! I really don't understand the two star rating. I buy and sell here. Tips for selling: make sure you have 2 to 4 hours to leave your stuff there because it does take them time to go through it. I think it's definitely worth it considering how quickly babies through clothes, and the process is extremely seamless. If you want to know what they're in search of call before. I also buy clothing here and I would say it's cheaper usually than buying them on sale in a clothing store however not as cheap as the garage sale. But you have to wait for garage sale and this place is always open. I would definitely recommend this place if you're looking to get rid of your little things and make a little bit of extra cash or looking for inexpensive quality clothes that your baby will run through quickly anyhow. I used to love coming here when it was under the old management. I believe that the new management is unprofessional. Today while shopping I was asked if I was going to pay for MY STROLLER. Mind you it's the $25 one you can get at walmart and I had walked in with it. I paid about $40 in products so adding another $20 would not have been a problem but the fact was that the lady at the front was rude and unprofessional by asking. Clearly she has no concept of her merchandise since my stroller is clearly used and has stickers that my child put on it. I don't think I'll be coming back any time soon. I love The Baby Shop on Alamo dr in same Plaza as Big lots (which is sadly now closed) usually have good luck. Although limited on space. They give you store credit or cash. Do. Not. Waste. Your. Time. Here. This is a franchised store so their horrible customer service will never improve. I've been selling my kids clothes here for 13 years. They've continued to go down hill. If they want to randomly cap their selling customers they need to not advertise that they take walk ins with no appointment needed on a big sign on their window. I understand Covid may have given them an influx in customers selling their clothes but there's no reason to be nasty and rude to a customer coming in hours before closing when they have no such policy stated that they cap. Mike the manager is rude and condescending. I had my husband try to do a return, but two of the items "he couldn't find on the receipt" although I bought all the items together. He basically made it sound like I was trying to steal by returning items that weren't on the receipt. Come to find out, if he had just taken the time to actually look at the receipt and what we were trying to return, he would have figured out that the original sales clerk didn't ring us up for those items! We even went back to try and give back the items that I didn't actually end up paying for and he said he wouldn't take them! "Because they weren't in the system." Pros and cons to this place. For the negative reviews I believe it comes from those selling their clothes. For the buyers, you'll find that the options available are well selected, thanks to the stringent policies, they select the best of the best which allows the store to provide adequate space to shop. The employees are really sweet, and I've been greeted each time, similar to Starbucks. I love the quality of clothes and the pricing! They have my girl dressing her best for Pennie's on the dollar. A great place to take gently used children clothing, toys and books. Instead of tossing or donating my grandkids clothing. I take it here to sell and receive points to wards purchasing gently used children items. Since kids grow so fast and most time the clothing they wear can be reused it's win win situation coming here. Staff is nice and all you have to do is drop off items and they give you a reasonable time to come back to see why your items are worth. I love coming here not only can I earn a few dollars but also earn points towards purchasing other items. I'm surprised by the reviews. I've always had a good experience here. Both with buying and selling. The owner is very nice and even held an item for me that he hadn't finished buying from the seller but knew I was interested in. I walk in and get greeted by the cashiers. If I have a question they answer it. I mean, what more do people really need from the employees? The clothes are in good condition and much more affordable than buying new. They also have a good selection of books and toys. I would definitely recommend this place. Tip for sellers: make sure to call ahead and have your items in the right containers. Great little thrift store for children's items! We were next door and decided to come take a look. My toddler is growing so fast so I thought this could be a good way to save money on her clothing. I was able to find some great denim shorts for her! Only $4 each, and they were high quality! I also noticed a great selection of party and formal dresses! I will have to keep that in mind next time we have a special occasion coming up. I was also thrilled to find out I can trade in my daughters outgrown items for store credit towards new stuff! I was super excited to visit this place as I was told good things by a couple of close friends. My daughter had some clothes and toys that she was ready to get rid of, so why not sell it for her to add to her savings. Since this was a first time thing for me, I called before going into the location to make sure that they were currently accepting items. I've made 4 attempts in a week to come in but they have "met their capacity" all but 2 of the times I called. For one of the visits, they said they were still accepting items and not more than 30 minutes later... they were no longer accepting items. I drove all the way to Vacaville from Fairfield (not really a big deal) just for them to tell me they "met their capacity" once I arrived. I was a little agitated as I just got off the phone with one of them... I wish there were a system where they would notify customers if they were nearing their limit for the day. I have a 4 year old and 6 month year old so... coming when they first open is nearly impossible especially since my toddler also has school. Fast forward to the day I'm able to finally drop some stuff off. I have my 6 month old strapped onto my body in a baby carrier, backed up into the parking spot directly in front of their entrance. Whilst carrying boxes out of the trunk, into the store, I'm ABLE to open the door and carry these boxes with my child strapped onto my body... but it would've been a nice gesture for someone to hold the door open. All one of the workers said to me was, "do you have more items or is this it?"... not one offer to help... which I'm sure they did see me outside of the building... since the building has glass doors and window and all. My gut already told me after I brought my first box in... to take my sh*t and leave. But I wanted to give this place a chance since we were trying to get rid of some stuff that someone else maybe able to love. I left two, almost three boxes of GENTLY USED (and when I say that, I mean damn near new. Just missing the tag) items. Most of which were Disney books, Disney toys (with all the pieces, mind you), a couple tummy time mats/activity toys and some name brand clothes, rain boots and so on. I was HOPING to at least get $40-$50 considering the quality and amount of items I brought in. NOPE! I got $32.50 for 25 items and a lot more that they didn't accept. I wish I didn't take the deal and I take full responsibility for the reason that I'm writing this review. I should've listened to my gut. I honestly think I would feel so much better donating to Savers or Goodwill and not receiving money because at least I would've gotten better customer service. I asked for a receipt... hoping to see the breakdown of the items. They said they do not provide receipts... which one of my friends did tell me she has gotten a receipt from selling to them before. I asked how they come up with the amount of how much they pay out and all they said was "the computer does all of that"... GEEEEE THANKS! And as stated online, they didn't tell me why they didn't accept the other box of items that I brought in. If I could go back and take all of the things back, I would. When I walked around to see if they had anything we could use, some of the things (non clothing items) were priced pretty gnarly for being a consignment store. I'm just hoping nobody else get ripped off the way I feel I did. (Someone please do tell me if I'm overreacting, lol) I will not be recommending this place to any of my mommy friends unfortunately. Simply because the customer service was sh*t. Had I been given a better experience, maybe I wouldn't feel so guilty bringing my daughters things to this place. And though, it's really NOT about the money... $32.50 for 25 quality, gently used items sounds like a joke to me. I am a frequent seller at OnceUpon a Child & recently purchased second hand books & clothing. I am so glad we have this store in our community. For those who are looking to sell & buy gently used clothing, I highly recommend them. The more you sell or buy, you earn coupons off your purchases. I've sold Easter & Christmas dresses my daughters have worn only once maybe twice; seasonal summer & winter clothes such as snow gear, toddler books & toys, strollers, high chairs, etc. I'm very happy with my recent purchases as well; I found some vintage "American Girl" books that I collected when was younger, young reader Novels that my son can read for homework, & step into reading books for my first grader. Why pay full price when you pay $1-$3?? I've also purchased Michael Kors toddler boots which were the best deal I can find. (Please see my attached photos.) Been coming here for 2-years and I was shocked at all the negative reviews. I've literally never had any problems with rudeness. I sold clothes a couple times but mostly buy and always get great deals. Some of the stuff does seem overpriced but they have coupons and compared to shopping at places like Target, Kohls or Carters...you get more bang for your buck. I want to love this place so bad and I've given them many chances. Coming from out of town it's hard to get here at 9am to be first in line to sell for the day. No matter what day/ time I have tried to come they are ALWAYS "not accepting anymore items for the day". I have designer kids clothes, hunter, Ugg, north face.... It's nothing but a huge waist of time. I want to support second hand and re-used items. Would love not to support Goodwill or fill the dumps but after months of trying I'm over it. today I stopped here it was my 7th time here which each time I've gotten some good stuff. However, every time I made a purchase I use lysol to clean down the toys with no problem. Today they gave me a hard time giving me a cleaner to wipe a clearly dirty toy. The manager stated "we just wiped that toy and put it out an hour ago...we will give you a wipe this one time but not again.." OK well I wiped the clearly visible dirt off and showed it to them.. so this is clean, the wipe was so dirty it was black... i will not be coming back here again, sorry.. too dirty toys and you won't let me wipe it...this is covid pandemic are you kidding me.. read more

I was hesitant to come here after reading so many negative reviews. But I wanted to get rid of some baby clothes that my daughter has outgrown while making a little money & thought why not give it a try? I arrived around 10:15 am and was told to come back 3 hours later. The lady that I dealt with was friendly and helpful. She answered all of my questions and gave me some additional info to help me understand the process. I came back to get my items, and they declined about half of what I brought in, but offered more than I thought I'd get for the whole lot so that was awesome. Also thought I would be getting store credit, but it ended up being cash! I really didn't have high expectations going into this process and was so impressed with how things turned out.
