    Garlic Breath Burger
    Sophie C.

My family came here on a Thursday night around 6:30, and there was only one other group seated. Pretty empty, but nice ambiance so we decided to stay. Service was spotty- we had two waitresses, one of which was clipped and disconnected, but the other was accommodating. We all got burgers, and it took less than 10 minutes for our food to arrive. My sister got fries which were great, but the side salads were sub-par. They seemed hastily dressed, with most of the dressing ending up under my burger. I ordered my burger medium, and it came almost overly well done so I had to send it back. Disappointed that it came on a regular bun, not a pretzel bun! We had just finished eating when the waitresses cleared our plates away and immediately asked us about dessert . Too quick! It was kind of awkward. Overall, it was a nice ambiance, but I thought the food and service wasn't worth it for the price.

Delicious burgers cooked well. The pretzel buns are crispy, buttery and really make the burgers pop. The staff was friendly and the interior and exterior are equally welcoming. The patio area is dog-friendly if you are traveling with a four-legged friend.

Such a cute restaurant in Nevada City. There's live music, and outdoor patio (this time of year the lights make everything so beautiful!). Everything was so yummy! Great atmosphere, the staff was helpful, and I came around 530p, shortly after they opened, and plenty of seating available! Roasted Brussel Sprouts: - loved the balsamic glaze, and it wasn't over cooked, the perfect texture! Blistered Shishitto Peppers - too tart and acidic for me, but it was good! Yuba Burger - came with crispy fries and my goodness, this burger was huge! the patty was super juicy! Alaskan Coho Salmon w. citrus beet gastrique - pan seared and so many flavors! loved the combination with the garlic herb mashed potatoes & roasted veggies. Chicken Marsala - this one took the cake for me. so freaking gooooood! The sauce is kind of like a gravy consistency. The chicken was cooked to perfection. I don't usually like quinoa, but it was so light and fluffy. Everything about this dish was amazing!

    Portobello mushroom sandwich

First time visiting Nevada City and was looking for a place to eat lunch that had some vegetarian options. After seeing the menu at One 11 for the weekend I was happy to see both lunch and brunch options, served until 3. They close briefly and then reopen for dinner around 5 (I think) and we just made it over before lunch was over, just about 2 pm. Hostess and servers were gracious even though it was towards the shift end and we were able to choose any seat. We sat facing the outdoor patio to enjoy the fall foliage. I opted for the portobello mushroom sandwich which comes with either fries or a salad. What I enjoyed about it was that it didn't get the bread soggy as some grilled mushroom sandwiches do. It was glazed with a nice balsamic reduction and served on a pretzel bun. I chose the side salad and it was a cut above your average "comes with the meal" salad. Lots of fresh shredded carrots, tomatoes, cheddar and a light citrus vinaigrette dressing, The space was simple and cozy-seems more suited to smaller parties, Really nice experience and glad we stopped here to fuel up before a day of exploring the shops of Nevada City.

Reminds me of a smaller scaled down version of Tofanelli's in Grass Valley. The brick patio, the lovely music from the band playing during our visit which was excellent (not overpowering just the right music and volume). Each of us had a burger from the menu and I ordered the "Humble" burger which was the basic burger. I added a fried egg and cheese. REALLY good tasty burger. The fries also seemed extremely good. Just the right crispiness. Service was decent, though not perfect. The lady who served our table did a fine job but appeared to have too many tables to wait on. She was all business. The bathroom was very nice and very clean. Would visit again for sure.

    Ahi burger

Our first time at Nevada City, I turned to trusty Yelp for dinner suggestions and came across One 11 Kitchen and Bar.  Although quiet upon arrival when they opened, the place filled up quickly during our stay.   Coincidentally we both went for the ahi, me the ahi burger and him the ahi entrée.  I was pleasantly surprised that the ahi burger was seared strips of ahi like you get with the entree and not ground ahi made into a burger.  I should've chose the fries vs. the salad though since the same veggies were already in the burger.   The ahi entrée came with mashed potatoes and roasted vegetables so a more balanced variety.  Overall, they are both great fresh choices.  Only complaint is the door doesn't automatically close on its own so if incoming or outgoing guests did not physically pull it close, we were hit with a gust of cold air until we closed it ourselves.

    seared yellowfin

With such a great menu, it was rather funny both dishes ordered involved Ahi Tuna. First was the "Seared Yellowfin". Eating the yellowfin (ahi tuna) plain, or with the ponzu sauce, were both just as delicious. Ponzu is soy sauce with citrus, and as a dipping sauce, give this a surprise contrast. Fish was fresh, melted in your mouth, and you are wanting more with each bite. Paired with roasted vegetables and mash potatoes, this meal was just the right size. I would definitely order this again. Second was the Ahi Burger, also seared just the same as the Yellow fin, then placed on a pretzel bun. I found the thickness of the bun made this a hearty burger. Paired with a salad (trying to be healthy as opposed to Belgian Fries, which are twice cooked). On a Saturday night, the place filled up within the hour and was quite busy. I only saw one table reserved, and there is also plenty of bar seats if you don't mind. Service was great, they were able to answer all my questions on the menu. They had specials that night but, all really wanted was the Ahi Tuna. Next time I would have to try other things besides the seafood. Great place!

    Chicken sandwich very tasty

Came to the area to escape the dreary fog and wow sunny and 75 degrees. So nice. Walked by this place and saw the patio and was sold. Got seated in a warm sunny spot and ordered a blonde ale and grilled chicken sandwich with bacon, aioli, etc. on a pretzel bun with fries. Yum. The hostess was so nice and service was good. This place made the drive well worth it.

    Portobella Gratin
    Tom S.

One 11 Kitchen & Bar has a menu with clearly marked items that are gluten-free. That is so helpful. I had the chicken sandwich and a Three Forks Double Dynamite IPA. My wife (who has celiac) ordered the "Portobella Gratin." Both of our dishes arrived promptly, and both were excellent. The aioli sauce on the sandwich had a bit of mild heat, which added significantly to the taste. Heat too often distracts from the taste for me, but not with this sandwich. The accompanying French fries were tasty. I tasted the Portobella Gratin, and it was amazing. The balsamic flavor perfectly complimented the cheese and veggies. Next time, I'm ordering that! Both our server and the hostess were very knowledgeable about gluten allergies.

Texan Sandwich Two Rivers Pomegranate Cider

My Entree was 20/10 -- I'd recommend trying the Texan Sandwich. I also enjoyed one of their ciders and it was a refreshing pairing on a late summer evening. The staff here was so welcoming and attentive. I had everything I needed to enjoy a beautiful dinner.

House salad with glass of Chardonnay

I've been to One 11 Kitchen a few times this year. Last time, I got the Grilled Portobello burger, which made my mouth water. This time, I ordered a glass of Chacewater Chardonnay, which is on tap, with a house salad.

    What an epic vegetarian burger.

We ate here years ago and searched it out...but the name had changed. The tiny little kitchen let us know we were in the right place. Just a cozy spot to grab a burger. The burgers are amazing, the fries amazing, our waitress amazing and her voice...well I've said enough. We sat at the bar, close to the kitchen, in view of the outside seating, right where we desired to be. It's a cute little getaway kind of vibe. And the burgers are amazing.

    Mary B.

Food was delicious and authentic farm to fork. Ambience was cozy and the staff was friendly. There was a musician with his guitar which helped with the chill vibe. Will be back again next time I'm in town.

The Mine Shaft Nevada City…read more Well, slap my suspenders and call me a gold prospector... I reckon I wandered into the finest watering hole this side of the Sierra. The Mine Shaft ain't trying to be an old saloon it is an old saloon. You half expect a miner to burst through the swinging doors yelling, "I struck gold!" Instead, someone hollers, "I struck happy hour!" Close enough. The place had classic tunes playing, folks laughing, glasses clinking, and enough characters inside to fill an old Western movie. They've got Pride flags hanging up, everyone's welcome, and nobody seemed interested in anything except having a good time. That's the kind of town I can get behind. I barely got my boots across the floor before the bartender looked at me and said, "Get in here! Your first drink's on me!" Then he rang the bell like we'd just discovered a new vein of gold. For about three seconds, I thought I'd accidentally become mayor. There was one old boy in there firing off jokes faster than a six-shooter. I laughed so hard I almost filed a workers' comp claim for a pulled rib. If laughter burned calories, I'd have left ten pounds lighter. Sitting on historic Broad Street, sipping a cold one in a place that's been around longer than most family trees... that's something you can't manufacture. You can almost hear the ghosts of old miners arguing over whose mule was lazier. And here's the real miracle: back in the 1800s, you probably had to pay with gold nuggets. Today they'll take Visa, MasterCard, and whatever magic piece of plastic you've got in your wallet. Progress! Five stars without hesitation. If you're passing through Nevada City, hitch your horse (or your Honda), mosey on in, and raise a glass. Just don't challenge the locals to a joke contest... they'll mine laughs out of you faster than the Forty-Niners ever mined gold.

I was with a family group celebrating a university graduation and we had checked out of our lodging spot, so I was on the hunt for a quiet place to have the call. After checking on a couple of other options, I walked into the National Bar. Success! Not only was it lightly populated at 1:00 on a Monday afternoon, but the atmosphere was oozing historic charm. It was just a pleasant place to be, let alone for what I was trying to accomplish. The bartender served me a tall glass of pineapple juice, which was delicious. I sat at a table in the larger part of the bar area and was getting connected to my call. At the last minute the client postponed so my careful planning to find the right spot was for naught. However, I enjoyed sipping my juice and soaking up the ambiance of the space. Dear Hubby ended up wandering in and finding me and we both sat for a spell I was able to check my email and catch up on anything immediate, which thankfully was minimal. It was a great place to take a break from wandering Broad Street, while still absorbing the charm of Nevada City. I'd certainly plan to stop in here again when visiting this special town.

It's a quaint little spot with some tables outdoors, which worked for us because we had our dogs in a stroller. I checked the menu before we sat down and they had a few gluten-free dishes which serves my wife well. Little did I know I was gonna find this culinary gem. We started with the Chicharron's. I'm not kidding. These were the best Chicharron's I have ever had in my life. They were so extremely fresh with a chipotle sauce that was perfection. I can't even describe how good these things were, but talk about fresh and crispy. Triple wow. The next item was the pork belly. It was scrumptious. The right blend of fat to meat ratio. Sweet and tangy. A 10 compared to chef Ramsey's 6 that I had at Hell's kitchen. And then there was the wild west beef tacos. Now if you follow my many reviews you will know I am a taco foodie. It is hard to get a wow out of me over a taco, but oh my God, these were some of the best freaking tacos I ever had in my life! They use a tender skirt steak to line the grilled flour tortilla, and then cheese, grilled onion, and bacon with an arugula salad top. And I believe some kind of chipotle sauce. I am not kidding you, these tacos will bend your knees. I absolutely loved them. They just absolutely nailed this. The wait staff was excellent, I got a pale Mexican beer that was really good, even the lemonade was first class. This was the surprise lunch of my lifetime. I was not expecting much. I was not expecting something worthy of a review even. These are some of the greatest lunches ever when you find a spot like this and were expecting nothing. Kudos to The River Downtown. I just wished I was staying another day so I could go back and try all the other things they have on their menu. Wow wow wow.
