i was looking for a place to get my hair cut, colored and just something new done to it. I stumbled on this living social deal that sounded perfect., so i gave them a call and Lindsey answered. She didnt just ask if i wanted an appointment and then hang up, she took her time on asking me what i wanted to do with my hair. She was then able to squeeze me in the next day which just happened to be a Saturday, i was so greatful beacuse i had a date later that night and just needed something new. When i arrived for the appointment I was greated by Lindsey and she was so sweet. She remembered my name instead of me having to say " HI im Kari i have a 1:00 appointment." Lindsay and her boss then proceeded to talk to me about my hair condition and what i can do to make it healthier, shinnier and just over all more natural. they asked me a couple more questions about what color i wanted, what style i wanted and they helped me to decide and figure out what would work with my style and structure. By the time i left i had the best hair style and color i have ever had, my hair looked amazing and felt even better. I have alway had a problem trying to grow my hair out and since ive gone to Lindsey it has been so healthy and growning. We set a plan for the next appointment. She also helped show me all the different ways to style my hair so i can get the look of just coming out of a salon. I just have to say that Lindsay at One Creativity and Design on SW 18th ave in Portland is amazing and i recomend everyone to call and make an appointment. You wont be dissapointed and trust me you'll never want to go to another hair desser agian! So at first when your walking by this salon it seems undistinguished from any other mainstream salon, but that tie is very much severed once you enter this salon. Not only is this salon creatively designed with an original open modern take, but it also makes you feel like you just walked in to your best friend's house, you feel comfortable and secure as they offer you some pretty spectacular tea and get you settled in (I must say, I had two cups). As far as my stylist goes (Lindsey) I am a hard person to impress and if you do not know what your doing I can be your worst nightmare, but this girl had it dialed in to the "T". She knew just how to handle my extremely dry curly color treated hair in such a way that not only did I walk out with just the color I was searching for but also and unworldly softness and shine that I still have weeks later (anyone with curly hair know exactly what I am talking about). So needless to say my experience at One Creativity & Design has rendered me incapable of using any other salon, in fact I actually booked my next appointment with the salon before I even left the first appointment. read more

Lindsay is fantastic! I have been having my hair (naturally light brown) dyed platinum blonde for more than six years, and I was constantly having to have my hair fixed a couple weeks after a dye job--it always came out brassy and turned yellow-y within a few weeks, but Lindsay got it right on the first try, and has continued to do so every time for the two years I've been going to her. I have never been happier with any other stylist--I trust her 100% and I will never have anyone else do my hair. I lived in New York for the last two years, and would postpone my touch-ups until I was in town--she was worth waiting for! She really cares about her clients and will go above and beyond to make sure that you are happy with your hair. I followed Lindsay from her last salon, and I'm so glad that she moved! Salon One is so cozy and intimate, and I really feel like the focus is on me and my hair, I've never gotten that sort of attention at a bigger salon with all the hustle and bustle. I had very bad experience with cutting bangs and was hesitating to try it again. I WAS AMAZED HOW PERFECT IT CAN BE DONE. I stumbled upon this wonderful salon while browsing Groupon. This was my first experience using Groupon. I saw the salon, browsed their website and decided to purchase when I saw Lindsay is certified with Deva Curl. I am so glad I did! I have searched high and low, been to MANY salons in the Portland area to try to find that special someone who knows how to treat a curly head of hair! Lindsay was great-listened to what I wanted, searched on the salon IPad to help find an image of what I wanted and then made the conception a reality. She was very thorough with cutting and coloring my hair. My hair is beyond thick, curly and short. She was meticulous with the haircut and styling. I will be back in 6 weeks for another cut! I just moved to Portland in March and was worried about finding a new hair stylist and salon that could replace the one I had (and really loved) in LA, so I asked a few strangers with "good hair" where they went and found my way to Emmanuel. Getting your hair cut by someone new can be a bit nerve wracking and I am admittedly a perfectionist. I found Emmanuel to be very laid back and unpretentious. He gave me an excellent cut, first cutting it wet and finishing it dry. The salon I came from handed you off to various assistants, so I liked that this small salon provided the intimate experience of being with one person from start to finish. In addition to a great cut, we also had a very interesting conversation about creativity, entrepreneurship and travel. I decided to try this salon today and I am so happy I did!!! Lyndsey was my stylist and she did color, low lights, high lights and a hair cut and this is the first time in years I have been so thrilled with the results!!! She really knows her stuff and listened to all my concerns and is working with me to repair damage from past work. I have already booked my next appointment and am just so glad to have a stylist who I can trust!!!! The color is perfect and the cut is very stylish and fits me perfectly. The salon is simple and peaceful and In an easy to reach location. Their pricing was very reasonable and I love the fact they use their own mixtures of natural oils to really help your hair shine!!! Okay so first of all you have to know I am PICK-YYY about my hair! I stumbled across this salon because I needed to get into a salon yesterday and there was a Groupon so I thought I might as well try it out. By coincidence Danielle George who I actually had do my hair before at another salon...poor thing I really put her through the ringer...she did the most beautiful highlights in my hair...I thought I wanted to be blonder but the true test was this morning I woke up looked in the mirror and couldn't believe how BEAUTIFUL my highlights were. I rarely get my haircut because I am afraid of what will happen! I got to the point of having hair that was so scraggly and dead from not doing anything to it in three years. I am a mom, and wanted something low maintenance. I went to Joshua Lane, and he seriously made me have a second opinion about getting my hair done. I now feel like this is something I am going to continue doing. He listened to what I wanted (and honestly I wasn't even sure), and he made my hair look better than it has in far too long! This review is long overdue. Emanuel has cut and colored my hair about five times. I will never go elsewhere. He is the expert of experts. This place is fantastic and Emanuel if unbelievably good. He nails the color every time. Every time! His cuts are so precise and so well done. I wear my hair long and straight and as he's been doing it my hair has continued to grow and thicken. Super easy to find, Convenient parking with Starbucks right in front ;) The only stylist who has the gifted hands to touch my locks is Lindsay, (whom, I actually followed from a different salon.) Her work is amazing, she is honest and will give you professional yet friendly advice and input to your ideas and what you envision. Lindsay has never failed me and also does my mothers hair! I came all the way from Pennsylvanie for a haircut by Taylor. Not really -- but I feel like I had to come out here to get a good curly cut. I was out visiting family and decided to get a haircut. One Creativity and Design was highly rated so I gave it a try. I was not disappointed. Taylor gave me a great cut as well as lots of advice for how to care/style my curly hair.
