He started off with just taking a bit off at a time then having me check which let me get the exact length and style I wanted. Made an appointment for a blowout and then schedule changed, I called the salon the morning of the appointment and asked if it was possible to move the appointment to a later date (I said no worries if not happy to come in today, but if I can move id prefer that) they said no worries, 15 mins later I get a confirmation text saying my appointment has been moved to Friday. Then six hours later, 30 mins after the time of my original appointment, I get two texts, one saying my appointment was moved back to the original time and that I canceled it! Then they charged my card $45 SIX TIMES!! Even after calling back, they pretended to help but just kept adding charges! read more

June has been doing my color for over 3 years and I recently started getting hair extensions 6 months ago with James. I have done everything to my hair; bleached, toned, pastel rainbow colors etc they both can handle me and my hair. I have a blast everytime I am there. The vibes are good, the music is good, and most important James and June both give me the best hair ever. I trust these two wholeheartedly. Wow, always awkward to give a bad review when everyone else has given five stars, but you all need to hear this one. Paige gave me a haircut, and frankly, I'm pretty sure she didn't know what she was doing. I requested a blunt cut, shoulder-length, but what I got was a poorly done style that was uneven with long strays hanging down. So, most salons provide customer service and work with customers to make them "happy", not this time. Paige was defensive and remote, with not an ounce of caring that the haircut was sub-par. The other issue is that I was her first appointment of the day, and she walked in ten minutes late, then spent five minutes talking with the other stylist. Yes, I was annoyed, and when she asked why, I told her.   I could go on, but I'll spare you the details. Did Paige oversell her skills to get this gig, or was Carbon desperate for new staff? In good faith I made an appointment on line through the salon website with Pamela Cruse. My credit card and personal information were taken in order to book the appointment. I received confirmation of my appointment and arrived 10 minutes early at the salon, and was asked to wait for Ms. Cruse., who when she did come to meet my asked if I got her text. I had not gotten her text she sent while I was driving to the appointment. She said she had another new client and was, apparently, double booked. Asked me to come another day or wait 45 minutes! I came in with only a mildly-formed idea of what I wanted, and he took complete control of my experience and gave me a look to be proud of! I've never worn my hair natural in my life, and he took time to explain the process of styling and give me a cut that can be worn both straight or curly. His eye for complexion/tone is evident in the way he artfully mixes color (he gave me a gorgeous fall/winter balayage without any reference photos). I walked in for a scheduled appointment with Pamela, to be (not greeted) but told that they couldn't find me in the system. I was scheduled for last Tuesday but couldn't make it because of a child emergency--so I called the salon and said sorry and asked if I could reschedule for today (Saturday). I paid for a babysitter and took a long drive to get there at 12:30 and Pamela had scheduled another person in my time slot. What?!? Apparently they don't call you or make sure that they have the correct information on file for you. Pamela had the wrong number for me, even though I'd been calling the salon all week. It was so awkward and I was made to feel rushed and like an inconvenience to them. I would not recommend this salon if you want a friendly vibe AND I would make sure that they have your correct information on file. Pamela did try to "fit me in" to my own appointment two hours after my original time. It was just inconsiderate to not have been told that my appointment was canceled (without me knowing). It was supposed to be a treat, and it ended up being a rushed, unsettling experience. Yikes. read more

We did a major chop last time and since I'm pregnant, I immediately regretted it and am growing my hair back out. LOL I have a lot of hair and I just wanted it to lay better while it grows. I have been coming to this salon for the past 6 years and unfortunately I will not be returning to this establishment due to their on going scheduling issues. I scheduled my appointment drove from another city only to have them turn me around and send me back saying they don't have me on their schedule! The owner said he can reschedule me for another time meaning I had to drive back another 25 miles. As a professional gesture knowing their system malfunctions he could of offered me a discount on their product or provided something as a small gesture for their on going booking issue and the inconvenience it has caused me. I would never have come to my appointment as a walk in if it wasn't booked as an appointment. I will be getting my hair done elsewhere where the staff is more professional and kind and doesn't act pretentious like their stylist Ramon when he didn't great me when I said hello! I'm not sure why I hadn't written a review prior to now. I mostly do dining reviews. I have been coming here for over 5 years and was also Sylvia's client before she relocated to carbon salon. She does an excellent job! She always listens to my concerns and does amazing work with my thin fine hair. She also did my hair for my wedding in 2020. She also always tries to accommodate my schedule since I commute from Hillsboro. The salon is bright and clean and always seems to be busy. There is free parking behind the salon which is nice considered most salons downtown Portland do not offer that. They have also a couple wonderful hair care lines. She explains the products and how to use them which is very helpful. She never pushes me or tries to upsell me products. She is the only stylist I have used there. I have never use their nail services so I can't speak to that. If you're looking for a new stylist and Solon I would give Sylvia a try ! read more

I went to Aidan to color my hair twice. Last time when I got home, I realized my roots remained unchanged even after being dyed. Aidan said it was because he didn't use permanent dye on my hair. I am very confused why someone would want their hair colored with non-permanent hair dye unless that's something they explicitly asked for. Aidan then claimed he did not ever color hair with permanent dye and that I would have to get it redone with another stylist if I wanted my hair colored permanently - despite the fact that he used permanent dye the first time I saw him. He then agreed to fix my hair if I booked another appointment with him on his salon's app, but his next availability is 2 months from now. I find it quite interesting how the day before not one, but both appointments I had with him, Aidan texted me asking me to reschedule so that another client could have a time that was more convenient for them, and that I should change my appointments for this other client (I did change my first appointment for this other client), but I need to wait 2 months to have my hair dyed permanently, which should have been done in the first place. read more

Walking in I'm always greeted with warm and welcoming attitudes and that gets everything off to a wonderful start, after that it's consistent through and through. My stylist Aidan is an absolute hair god and I have to say I've never been happier with any of my past stylists than I am with him. From achieving exactly what I ask for to suggesting the next level in a way that is never pushy or annoying, ultimately achieving that next level. His formula both literally and figuratively just works perfectly. I have some mega dark and thick filipino hair and he's able to transform it in ways that have been challenging for most and a failure for some. My latest look was the fanciest piece of perfection I've felt. The shade was perfect and I remember my first night on my vacation I had like seven people come up to me and tell me how amazing my shade was. My answer? "I've got a guy, he's a wizard." Aidan is the best! After looking through Yelp and Instagram, I found one of his creations on Instagram and asked for the same thing. I described that I wanted to have an ashy blonde balayage and we discussed the process and pricing. He is very transparent about cost, which I greatly appreciated. He also has a lot of experience working on Asian hair, so that was very reassuring to hear. In addition, he blocked off an extra hour so we wouldn't be rushed. He was very nice and easy to talk to over the 3+ hours I was there. He even gave me complimentary champagne!
