This company and it's owner, NATHAN DICKINSON, is a FRAUD. I was just scammed out of almost 4,000. I honestly admit I should have gotten a second opinion because that sounded like too much money for a compressor but I am a single female and I had used this company TWICE before. Nathan is a NEW owner and he took my money and pretended to install a new compressor and 30 minutes after he left, it stopped working. I called and called and he would not answer. He finally came back a few days later (said all his tools were locked in his truck) and he said he saw what the problem was and would come back in a few days to fix the "secondary" problem. All the while being as friendly as he could be. I immediately called a new company out who showed me the serial number inside was the original compressor from 2017 and NOTHING was new and it was filthy. They fixed it that night. Nothing needed to be changed out. I was able to put a stop payment on the credit card for 1/2 the amount (hopefully) but the rest was cash. (stupid). He said his card reader wasn't working. So another AC repair company, Rescue air, had just told me I needed to replace my evaporator coil. I decided to get a second opinion and have One hour come over and look at the system as they had done some work for me in the past. The tech did not find anything wrong with the evaporator coil (which would've been a $5100 repair). However, he claimed that there were all these leaks in the ducts and they needed to be cleaned as well. He also said the AC unit needed to be cleaned and a UV light should be added. The cost of all the work that he said was needed was, surprisingly, also $5100. I thought his findings to be odd since I've had the system looked at many times before and no one has said anything about leaks in the ducts (although I had been told there was a lot of biological material in the AC unit). I decided to get a third opinion and that company could not find any leaks in the ductwork, and while the AC unit needed to be cleaned and add a UV light, what was actually needed (if I wanted to eliminate the biological growth) was actually more like $1100, a much lower price point. Before getting any work by them done, make sure to get at least a second opinion. read more

DO NOT use this company because it's a fraud! The AC at our rental was not working correctly and the first technician said we needed a condenser for $2600. He also said that this unit could have been under the warranty if it had been registered. Because the work was done by One Hour Service back in 2018, I contacted them to inquire why it was not registered. A very "courteous" Nathan answered the call and said he could replace the condenser for much cheaper if it indeed was the problem. He came by two days later, but arrived late without tools such as ladders (1st clue for fraud). He then went to the backyard to look at the condenser without taking anything apart (2nd clue for fraud) and concluded that we need a new one and he could do it for $2300 (he was out for 5 mins or so). Nathan also said that he needed to check the unit in the attic to make sure all was good. After a quick look up there, he came down to say that the drip pan was rusted and he could replace it for $260. Even with some suspicion, I set up an appointment for him to do the work because he was courteous and talking like he was an expert. Since it's a rental, the tenant let him in on the day and I made the payment of $2560 over the phone after he claimed the work was done. We did not realize that not only did he not replace the pan, he also did not give us a new condenser. It looks like he just replaced the compressor with an OLD part, which is probably a couple of hundred dollars worth of work. DO NOT use their service!!!! Our home was built in the fall of 2021, and our contractor used this company to install the HVAC unit in our brand-new home. Since then, I've had to call them at least twice every year--always for the same issue: the AC simply doesn't work. And yet, because they installed the unit, I believed they were the best option to address its frequent malfunctions. Recently, I spoke with a gentleman named Nathan. I want to emphasize that he has always been courteous and respectful on the phone, and this is in no way about him personally. Over the weekend, I reached out to Nathan once again, explained the issue, and scheduled an appointment for today, Monday, November 11th, with a window from 2-6 pm. But no one showed up. And worse, no one even reached out to explain or reschedule. The issues here are glaring and concerning. First, it's baffling that a unit installed in 2021 has broken down every single year since then. A new unit should not be this unreliable. Second, the complete lack of follow-up or communication after scheduling an appointment is unacceptable. I relied on them, expecting they would show up, and as a result, my family has now endured several more days without AC, trusting they'd honor their commitment. This kind of service--or lack thereof--is inexcusable. For anyone considering this company, I strongly urge you to take my experience into account. This is far from a minor inconvenience--it's a repeated failure to provide a service that actually works. How is it possible that a brand-new unit installed in 2021 consistently breaks down? Each time they come out, they charge us, yet the problem persists year after year. That's a legitimate concern, and it's one that no homeowner should have to deal with. Even if we accept that the unit may have an issue, why does it keep happening year after year? It simply doesn't make sense. And today's no-show for our scheduled appointment is just a slap in the face as a customer. Clearly, they don't prioritize customer service or quality in any way. You know who you don't want to piss off? A tired mom who hasn't got any sleep or air condition in six weeks during a heat wave after failed services from this business. Rockwall one hour air has been out to my home 5 times in the last six weeks. During this time I've paid for parts and labor for an issue that was never resolved. On the last visit, Josh came out to my house. He pointed out a leak in our attic that had been overlooked by our previous technicians on their previous visits. He apologized and told me that that service fee would be waived for the trouble. After days of waiting around with no response during a heat wave I called. They told me that I owed a service fee of $90 for that visit which the technician had already told me would be forgiven as we have been annual members with this company for over three years in my new home. During this time I've been up-charged for parts, and been billed for services/parts that never addressed my issue. Their manager told me that they would not come back out to my house to fix the problem unless I paid yet another service fee. During this conversation, I was hung up on, and all of my calls from my husband and I have been ignored. If you're reading this, please save yourself the headache. read more

Last year our air conditioner wasn't cooling so I called One Hour Air Conditioning and Heating of Rockwall who I have used in the past. The technician came and said the filter was dirty and it should start cooling down. I knew that was not the case because I frequently check my air filter and we own five rental homes and I remind my renters often to check their air filter monthly and replace it when needed. The technician checked the system and said everything was working properly. I asked him questions about other possibilities or problems that might be causing the unit not to cool but he said it would cool down. I doubted it. I knew there was something wrong. It did not cool down so I made another appointment. The same technician came 2 days later and it turned out there were two problems which he had overlooked. He turned off the unit but left the fan running and said a repairman would return the following morning to work on it some more. So it was 85 degrees in the bedrooms and we wanted to spend the night in a motel because we're spoiled and didn't want to endure the discomfort. I called them again to report that I was disappointed because I knew there was something wrong on the first visit but the technician wasn't thorough and that we would be having important guests arriving soon. She replied that at our appointment tomorrow morning they will take care of it. After the repairs were made and I paid for the work, I called to ask for a reimbursement for the initial visit when the technician did not diagnose the problem. I was told I would receive a check in the mail. I never did. My handyman knew the original owner of the company but he said when family members took over the business it went downhill. I'm sure they often do good work but I have used Lyons Air Conditioning and Heating since August 2018 and found them to be superior in both price and efficiency. read more

Hands down the best service! Last night (5/6) I noticed that the air in the house was getting hot. It was already past our babies bedtime so I figured I would call in the morning. They scheduled us for the next day (Tuesday 5/8) but when they heard about the babies, they didn't want us to wait any longer. They shuffled some things around and got someone to us ASAP. Been using these guys since I moved here several years ago. First, when they tell you a time, they're punctual. That's a good start. They've been straight up honest all the way. Nathan has fixed only what was necessary. They recommended but weren't pushy. I used them about 4 times on heating and a/c repairs. I have them service both units in spring and fall. I joined their Gold Club and think its preventive maintenance just like my cars. After being a businessman for over 60 years, I like and respect the way they do business and know their stuff. AWESOME Service! i called to get their first available appointment (called at 3pm) which was the next day around noon. In any normal situation that would have been ideal but I happen to have plans and needed to be gone by then. I told them I would need to find someone who could come out sooner but thanks. While I was talking to a competitor who also couldn't get out any sooner, the owner called me and said he could have someone come out within a few hours to at least look at it so they could order any parts that might be needed today. Within an hour not only was there a very nice technician at my house, within 15 mins he had not only discovered the issue, had the part on hand, and fixed it...he also replaced my attic light for me! :) Price was much better than anyone else I called. I am obligated to use One Hour (aka Rockwall Heating & Air) through my home warranty provider, but I'm very glad that they chose One Hour. I live in a condominium complex built in the mid-80s and I've had 3 separate issues within the span of 6 months. First, it was a rusted out capacitor -- my warranty covered the parts for that one. Second was a mystery refrigerant leak that they were not able to find, but they felt so bad about not finding the exact source of the leak that they waived the charge on my third issue, which was the condensation drain line not functioning properly. I haven't had any issues with the refrigerant since they looked at it, which was back in March. Overall, I'm very pleased with their service. All of their technicians have been very courteous and they seem to be very understanding of the situation I am in with my old and faulty AC unit. read more

I would like to give this company 0 stars but I don't think that's option. The tech that come out of my house was a carny crook. My AC wasn't working and he told me that the blower motor in my furnace was out - cost $1600. And, that to replace the blower motor I would also have to replace the control board even though nothing was wrong with it because the blower motor and control board were configured to work together at the factory and you couldn't get the blower motor to work without getting its associated control board - cost $1000. Total of $2600 to fix and prices were guesstimates, they could be more due to the age of my system. He then proceeds to tell me that my best option is just to replace my furnace since it was 16 years old - cost $3800. He gave me a third option to replace both AC and furnace but he said that I didn't really need to replace the AC at that time. Based on his advice I took the 2nd option and had them install a new furnace. After 4 tries they couldn't still couldn't get it to cool my house (btw: they were demanding more money to 'fix the problem', even though they couldn't tell me what was wrong) so I called another company who sent out a tech and said 1) the AC would have to be upgraded to work with the new furnace - they were never going to work well together - cost $6000. And, equally, if not more important 2) there is NO configuring of the blower motor and control board at the factory so that they specifically work together; assuming that the the blower motor was actually broken it could have been replaced without the purchase of the control board. Any AC tech would have known both of these things. I will never know if the blower motor was actually broken, but assuming that it was and I had had correct facts I would have spent $1600 not $9800 ($3800 for furnace and $6000 for AC). This company has exceeded my every expectation. My upstairs AC gave out late on Saturday. I called Rockwall Heating and Air and they had someone at my home within 1.5 hrs. It turns out my Compressor had given out, and the technician, Corey, was very professional and spent until 11pm trying to find a way to make it work without having to replace it. Once we determined that was a lost cause, Corey talked to the owner right then I was able to get me a brand new AC unit the very next day. The team of technicians arrived around 9:30am on Sunday and had my AC blowing cold air by the early afternoon. The team did a very thorough job and made sure we were happy with the service before they left. This is the best AC Company I've ever used, by far. read more

Had a technician come out to inspect my AC unit that was not blowing cold air. The technician was nice and got the job done pretty quick. I was fairly certain the issue was due to the capacitor, but rather play it safe. The technician never informed me how much the capacitor would be until they handed me the invoice and told me that it's what the price is. Never gave me the option to have them take the capacitor back and told me that's just how much it costs. I've tried to contact One Hour Heating & Air multiple times, but only received one phone call back stating they would have to investigate the issue. It's been three weeks now and still not getting any information. I'd highly recommend going with someone else and definitely not let them install a capacitor. Not including the $89.50 service fee, it will cost you $199. Only paid around $75 total for other companies and could buy almost 10 capacitors for that price (that include the 2 year warranty One Hour likes to throw around). read more

In early June 2016 we realized our ac was having issues cooling our home. It would blow cool air but the temperature inside was always 6-8 degrees warmer than it was set to. We called our home warranty and then rockwall heat and air to have it checked. They told us the freon was empty. After running diagnostics they determined we needed a new evaporator coil since it was leaking. We were charged $1215 beyond the warranty to convert the coil (note: the valve was not left to reconvert to the puron ; maybe this is typical though). After a week, we were still having issues. A different tech came out, said they put too much freon in the unit so he took some out and said the only other thing we could do was to add a return vent. After a day of continued warm temperatures we called and agreed to having the additional return installed. This cost $725. The tech told us this would improve performance but we would continue to see higher temperatures since our unit was old but there was nothing that could be done to fix it. Well we survived the remaining of the summer with 74-76 degree indoor temperatures (3-4 degrees above our thermostat). Fast forward to this year. First time turning it on and same issue happened. We had a separate company come out, the freon is empty and there is a leak. Not in the evaporator coil but in the outdoor unit. It has likely been leaking all year. We now need to replace the outdoor unit and are no longer covered by our warranty. In retrospect I should have gotten a second opinion last year but I trusted the tech. I must say the women on the phone at rockwall were kind, apologetic, and even offered to come out for free to see if it's the same coil they replaced; but my issue is not with the coil they replaced, but the issues that persisted that we were told were "normal." read more

Not a good experience to say the least. The techs came out over a two year period under our home warranty and on each occasion charged for "leaked" freon. When asked about fixing the leak, we were NEVER given an answer. On the last two service calls, they insisted we needed a new A/C unit, which was found out to be completely untrue after demanding another company from our warranty service. Only the fan motor needed to be replaced, a $60 service call. Typical scam artists but common in this industry. Buyer BEWARE!!! read more

I was recommended to this sham of a company by my home owners warranty insurance. They sent 2 different techs out on 2 different dates. The first said that I needed a new drip pan for my upstairs unit so I agreed and paid for it. I was told it would have to be ordered and they would call when they were coming back out. Several weeks later another tech comes by and says he needed measurements because the order was not completed. After being there for some time he stated that he needed to call his supervisor because there was more to my AC issue. He then proceeded to tell me that I needed a new system and it would be around 6K. My town home is only 893 square feet!!! I refused and asked for a refund of the $256.00 dollars I paid for the drip pan that was never installed. I have yet to receive it. I have called several times and each time, I am told that a Supervisor will call me back. It is November...still waiting and by the way I called another company and had my unit repaired within a week and it has been working since!! read more

The team at Rockwall Heating and Air are exceptional. On a recent visit to Dallas my parent 40 year old HVAC system went to the great AC bone yard in the sky. Shawn, a sales team member, came out on a SUNDAY to assess and provide a quote for replacement. Between the credits,18 months zero interest, 2 year service plan and 10 years parts and labor - they were $1500-2000 cheaper than their nearest competitor. Even better, since I was leaving on Tuesday, they installed the entire system the next day (Monday)! The installation team was top notch. They removed the old system and reconfigured the space for to create a cleaner more efficient set up. They earned every penny working in a very cramp and confined space. On top of all of this, they were friendly, easy to deal with and left the area completely clean. The carrier system they installed is working brilliantly. I highly recommend this company to anyone looking for outstanding, friendly service, high quality equipment and installation and competitive pricing. Well done Rockwall Heating and Air! read more

We have a warranty with Nations Home Warranty on our home that we just moved into on December 13, 2014. On Sunday, August 9, our AC unit went out. We called Nations Monday morning and they said they can't get a contractor out until Tuesday between 4 and 8. Around 4pm, Rockwall Heating and Air show up. He is there for over an hour and then writes up a quote. The quote is for $5,529 and says that we need a new AC unit. It lists part by part with a price next to it. He also states that Nations isn't going to cover any of this because we didn't maintain the unit properly. Um, what? We just moved into the house, we haven't used our AC for more than 2-3 months. Oh, but get this, he says they finance! I bet you guys do! So not only would it cost us $5,529, but now we get to pay all the finance charges too! Well I call Nations, who tells us the same thing, that it's not covered because we didn't have them out for a Spring maintenance check. Funny. We decide to get a second opinion and have another ac company come out and give us a FREE estimate. Well turns out, we don't need everything that you stated!! The fee to fix what needs to be fixed is about $1500. It's unbelievable how dishonest companies can be! We are a hard working family with a young daughter.
