The quality of her work is great and she makes me feel cared for and appreciated even when I'm feeling embarrassed or vulnerable (if you know, you know!). I wish she had more hours in the evenings on weekdays, but I understand the need for work/life balance! This is the reason for the 4-star rating: the price!!! Very Disappointing Experience I unfortunately did not have a good experience at Mario Tricoci Salon in Oak Brook, and I will not be returning. My appointment was scheduled with my stylist, but I ended up waiting an additional 30 minutes because she was still talking with her previous client. I understand that conversations happen, but when you work in a busy salon and have appointments scheduled back-to-back, I feel you should be mindful of the time and the next client who is waiting. Unfortunately, the actual service was also disappointing. I showed my stylist a picture of the look I wanted, and although I'm sure she has years of experience, the final result was not what I was expecting. I felt that what I was asking for and the look I showed her were not really being paid attention to. As a customer, I believe the stylist should take the time to understand what the client is asking for and make sure they are on the same page before and during the service. The second issue happened when I went downstairs to pay. I had a promo code that I made sure was on my account when I checked in, yet the receptionist initially tried to charge me approximately $85 at full price. I had to remind her about my promotion before she looked it up and said, "Oh, yes, you do have one," and applied the discount. That really bothered me because I shouldn't have had to catch that myself. My advice to anyone going here is to pay very close attention to your bill and make sure any promotions or discounts are actually applied before you pay. Overall, between waiting 30 minutes for my appointment, not getting the look I specifically showed my stylist, and then almost being charged the full $85 despite having a valid promotion, I left feeling very disappointed. Got passed from a professional stylist to a girl who was shadowing and didn't really know what she was doing. She was nice but she was absolutely BURNING my scalp the whole entire time, was holding back tears the whole time from how bad it was burning. Linda was SO sweet and amazing at what she does so I'm glad she fixed my hair up, but i still feel like I needed to say something so the one girl doesn't burn anyone else's scalp because it truly burned so bad and made my experience not so great for my first time at tricoci.. but all the girls here are very nice and pretty read more

Had a very uncomfortable experience with Lupe. There was some kind of product launch going on this day at the mall, so it was crazy busy and I spent 15+ minutes driving around looking for a parking spot (obviously not their fault) - but because of this, I walked in about 4 minutes past my appointment time then had to wait in a long line at reception. I tried to call ahead but got a busy signal. When Lupe greeted me she was visibly upset, and as soon as I got in the chair she reprimanded me for being late and not respecting her time. When I tried to apologize again she cut me off and told me to "be better next time." She was so obviously annoyed with me that she poked me in the eye with the round brush, hit my ear with a hot straightener, and accidentally cut off my necklace.... Honestly the cut itself is great. But the experience was so uncomfortable that I'll never be back. If a 5 minute delay is so inconvenient that you're yelling at a customer (that you're charging $120 btw), maybe you should space out your appointments more. read more

In honor of self care I I treated myself to a massage. I originally booked with Charlotte, but she got sick so they scheduled me with Faye. I opted for the seasonal massage which felt like a deep tissue, which I really don't like because it's kinda a hard pressure get the knots out your neck style of a massage. I prefer soft and relaxing Swedish Massages, so in the future I know to specifically request this. Overall I enjoyed my massage and time at Mario Tricoci. Massage wait area is really nice and calming. Very clean and organized women's locker room. I like the fact that after your massage you can go into the quiet room to relax your mind or have a cup of tea and just chill. I felt like they don't just put you out the door right after. Self care is important and I will lean on Mario Tricoci to assist me in achieving this. read more

Update to Tricocci's in Oakbrook! I just got my haircut mid January 2026 and the haircut came out perfect as expected. Which is why I love this place. No surprises. Just a darn decent job, great customer service. But the remodel of the facility is wonderful. And they brought back coffee and tea. Sort of hidden to the left of the facility behind of the facility as you go up the escalator on the second floor on the divider on the west side of the floor. Tricoci used to be top notch, but their level of service is slowly slipping. Today, after highlights, no blow dryer was available at the blow dry bar, so I asked a salon person if there were any other hair dryers I can use for 5 min. She pointed to the spa (she said I'd let you use this one but we're not supposed to), so I walked in the spa, but that hair dryer was also in use. And, I have to say, how is that fair to people who pay money to be in the exclusive spa area? I waited for a while, went to put my street clothes on, checked back on all 3 women (all with really long hair) and gave up. I asked the check out people if there was any way to use a hair dryer for 5 minutes (it's 41 degrees outside) and they said, it's very busy the week before Thanksgiving, so you just have to wait until the blow dry bar is available. This place is chock full of spare hairdryers and spare space, so I don't think waiting 30-45 min is fair after they say, book the blow dry bar, when you sign up for an appt. I said, I've waited 20 min and your salon knew tons of people had booked hair color with the free blow dry bar ahead of time, so why are you so unprepared for the clients? She had no answer, except to tell me I had to wait longer. I left with really wet hair, in the cold --me, a senior citizen. They used to have attendants that took out your foils and washed your hair after color. Now, most of the time it falls to the color person. That's not great, as they're in a hurry and have new clients waiting. They used to have coffee or tea available. No longer (just at Naperville--not Oakbrook) They used to put your gift card number in your account so you can use it (I recently misplaced my $300 black gift card, so I guess I'm out of that money). No longer. You have to carry the black card and the paper bonus paper on you to use. Edit: if you know where to look online, and have a paper receipt with the gift card number, you can reprint the gift card from your email. Thus, at least I was able to save that prior purchase to use. And, no, when I called, no one told me that -- I found it myself. And, their Oakbrook salon is dirty (I spent some time looking at the floor while waiting in the color area....and the bottoms of the chairs...ew) and sorely in need of a makeover. At least the Naperville location is clean. So, $200.00 and I walk out with my hair wet? Really classy, Tricoci. If I did not like your personnel at the salons, I'd never come back. It's a good thing you at least know how to keep your beauty talent in house. And, by the way, it's duly noted at Oakbrook that you have a full-time sales person standing around trying to push products in your products area (the area that used to be a lounge) They're kind of annoying, tbh. I booked two haircuts with blowouts through your website and saw the total price as $120. I called the salon to double-check, and the person on the phone confirmed it was only for one appointment. So I asked them to add the second one. I also specifically said I didn't want experienced stylists because I almost always wear my hair up anyway -- a junior stylist would be totally fine. When I went in for my appointment, everything seemed normal until I went to pay. The receptionist told me my total was $180 -- $60 for one haircut and $120 for the other. I was shocked and said that couldn't be right; I'd only agreed to pay for one appointment at the original price. She told me my stylist charges her own rate of $120, no exceptions. My stylist did a good job, but $120 for a haircut is wild -- that's lawyer money! I explained that I'd specifically requested a less experienced (cheaper) stylist when I called. The receptionist just said there was nothing she could do because my call went to a call center and was handled by someone named Selena. So I ended up paying double what I expected and budgeted for. Then, when the person with the second appointment went to pay, the receptionist had to re-ring the service because it was still attached to my original booking. When she put it through again, it came up as only $55. So now I'm really confused -- how did the exact same service suddenly cost less than half for the second person? I went in to get a full head of highlights in December. My virgin hair got completely fried. I'm not very experienced with hair, I have only gotten highlights a few other times in my life... but this time my hair looked so damaged after. I went in after literally crying for like 3 days straight. I couldn't look in the mirror without bursting into tears. They sat me down to take a look and said "it's not bad and it's totally fixable" (complete gaslighting and had me questioning if I was just being picky. They gave me a bottle of k18 (since they wouldn't be able to get me in to fix it til after the new year) and I canceled my new years plans because it looked so bad, even with the k18. I went in and they "fixed it" with a gloss and tone. I am going somewhere else to get a touch up/redo/fix... and they literally told me "yeah it's a bit crispy"... and then was super shocked to hear he put heat on the foils on my virgin fine hair. So now 3 people have told me the heat was completely unnecessary and super damaging. While the manager at tricoci gaslit me telling me "it wasn't that bad". 3 months later, using k18, leave in conditioners, masks, and it is still a frizzy dry mess and I HATE it. For my son's birthday, I scheduled a cut and color for him at Tricoci. I scheduled the color with Dominic and the cut with Ellie. We specially asked for these two people because Dominic colored his hair previously and Ellie cut my hair previously. I was told the color would cost $110 at minimum and Ellie charged $65. For some reason, Ellie could not do the cut for my son. According to Tricoci said, "she was no where to be found". Instead Blu cut his hair. The total for his cut and color (not including tip) was $275! I wouldn't have minded paying that much if my son actually like his cut and color. Originally, I was going to rate his cut and color a 2 based on his dissatisfaction when he returned home. The cut was awful. There was not a lot cut. But the worst infraction was that left side was not cut the same as the right, making the color appear different on each side as well. She also did not texturize his hair. Blu, the hair stylist did not take instruction very well (per my son). I called Tricoci and spoke with Lisa, the manager. Lisa was very understanding and assured me that they would make it right. She relayed the issues to the manager that would be working the next day. Crystal was equally as understanding. Eileen was asked to fix Kai's cut. She made it clear that she only had 15 minutes to cut his hair before her next appointment. This concerned me but she seemed confident that the time was adequate. And she was right. I would definitely recommend her services. I listened as she spoke with Kai and asked all the right questions. As for the color, my son asked for blond highlights. Personally I wouldn't say his highlights were blond. Some areas were "brassy" while other parts were a light purple. Danielle, the colorist we saw for the redo assured us the purple would go away and gave us a little container of clarifying shampoo. My son did not want to spend more hours in a chair re-coloring his hair because he was only home for the weekend. So we left the color alone and hoped the color would "get better" over time. All in all, my son's experience during the re-do was much better than his original experience, For that reason, I am increasing my rating from a 2 to a 3. I'm giving three stars as the manager did comp the service. I booked a textured cut with Michael (over 30 years of experience). During the consultation, I told Michael I'm more or a wash-and-go person with at least two different textures of hair. I expected him to take that into consideration when styling my hair. He suggested a bob and he mentioned how short the back would be. I said "No." He's like "No?" No! I thought I communicated what I wanted - trim the ends to make the length even. He mentioned layers and I agreed. He did a bob with Two Layers in the back. The length in back is much shorter than I expected. I wanted to cry. Two days later I had an event so I styled my hair. My boyfriend's reaction was, and I quote, "WTF?" I really wanted to cry then! I washed my hair today (remember I'm a wash-and-go girl) and I saw how short my curls are. Then, I cried. Honestly, I am still a little unsettled by my experience here back in March & April. I showed my stylist several pictures and had a clear idea of what I wanted, but was flexible to what they thought might work with my hair type. I walked away with my same exact hair with two tiny snips from the front for $120. So, I went about a week or so later in April to have it corrected - and that resulted in an over correction where 6 inches of hair was taken off that I didn't want removed, and was somehow still left with a bland, boring look that I didn't want. I thought the whole thing was going somewhere - but before I knew it, the hair was gone and the cut was done. I didn't even want them to try to fix it at that point. Honestly, I should have turned and ran away when my stylist greeted me reeking like weed. I don't care if you partake, just maybe not while I am paying you. I've been a loyal customer of Mario Tricoci for over two decades. I even attended the opening of their Oakbrook location, where Irene, my specialist, always did an excellent job. We got to know each other well over the years, even sharing stories about our families. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, Irene had to leave, and I was assigned a new specialist. The new specialist has left me feeling upset and offended after each visit. For starters, the salon doesn't provide wide-tooth combs or brushes suitable for curly hair. It's frustrating that the staff seems unprepared every time someone with curly hair walks in. I spend between $300 to $350 for each visit, and I expect better service. Today was the last straw. Ms. Heather, my hairstylist, told me that my dreadlocks were too difficult to comb out. As someone with curly hair, I've never been so insulted. She was in a terrible mood, and her rough handling of my hair was painful. By the end of my shampoo, my scalp was so tender that I opted to leave the conditioner in and wash my hair at home later. I'm appalled by the racist undertones of this situation. Stereotyping people based on their hair type is unacceptable. Just because I have curly hair doesn't mean I should be treated differently. I've received many compliments on my appearance, and I know many women of different ethnicities with curly hair. It's unfair and discriminatory to label my hair as dreadlocks just because it's not straight. She was wonderful and the service was great. She first asked what I would want and work with me until we got it down. Next she washed my hair. When we got back to her chair, she asked be once again how many inches I wanted to cut off since everyone's interpretation is different with a trim length and what 2 inches looks like to them. I thought that was very professional of her to and client centered. Once she's done with cutting, she blows drys and then ask how it looks and if you need any modifications. I specifically told my hairdresser Danielle my concern about leaving dye on my skin and she still left a ton of it on my ear and on the hairline. She did not take extra care to prevent that despite my specific request and didn't even acknowledge it at the end of service. Disappointed with the quality of the work for such a price. Maybe she should look into how to take care of darker colored hair. When I checked out, the person at the desk handed me the color corrector on a towel and had me to go to the (smelly) bathroom to clean it up myself. Lazy and careless service. My stylist is great and that is the ONLY reason I come here. Outside of that the work stations are outdated and lighting is bad. Feels dirty. Billing is horrendous and you never know what you will be paying until you check out and front desk staff is pretty unhelpful if you have any questions. Lots of curt responses which reflects on the whole experience. Management treats you like a number and not a customer. Pay up and shut up kind of attitude. This is based on getting my brows tinted and shapped as well as customer service. When I was at the location everyone was extremely sweet. I had been growing my brows out and want to get them shapped. I got in the car and realized my brows are completely different shapes! I called the answering service who then put me threw to the actual store. I explained to somone what's happened and I'd be happy to send a picture because unfortunately this can't be fixed unless they over pluck the other eyebrow. I was on hold for over 31 minutes. Nobody checked on me or said hey were to busy, can we call you back later. Which I would have been totally cool with. I really want my money back for the brow services. I decided this year it was time to enjoy a Spa treatment at the Oakbrook location. I made my appointment in advance and asked the front desk associate Lucy, if she needed the gift certificate. Lucy stated not until after my services on said date, but it was require to add a credit card on file. The day that I have been longing for has finally arrived ( April 5th, 2025). After experiencing illnesses, family losses, etc., this was well needed. I will give the techs Rose and Amira, 5 stars for an excellent experience. Lucy asked how was my experience, and I told her it was excellent and I felt so relaxed. When I gave her my Gift Certificate, she stated that it had been used. I told her that's not possible, My husband and my name was on the certificate, at this point I'm now stressed again, the relaxed feeling just went out the door. The name who she stated use the Gift card, was the Realtors client. At this time there is a line of People, I am embarrassed, my relaxed moment came to a halt, I had to step to the side and called the Realtor, and she stated she had an issue in December with the gifts cards she gave to clients, due to an associate taking a short cut and went into her account vs taking the paper certificates the clients had in their hand. I told Lucy to charge my credit card for my services ($277.00), she stated the manager will look into it before they charged my card. Lucy wrote down the Realtor information so he manager could contact her. The manager on said date eventually called Ms Harris (realtor) later that date to correct the problem. They used my $180 gift card towards another person's pedicure and manicure services. Basically, this is unprofessional, embarrassing and I wasted a spa day for relaxation, and it turned back into a stressful moment. Ms Harris (Realtor) purchase gift certificates for her clients as appreciation gift. I expected more from Tricoci company. Plus she's funny, which doesn't hurt, but she takes her work seriously and does not get distracted ever. So I have avoided this place since I came here about 15 years ago. The staff all seem so airbrushed, plastic, and pretentious. However, I figured I would try them again for a birthday haircut. I'm actually happy I did. It was easy to make an appointment online, but I am not fond of the 24 cancellation policy. If you cancel within 24 hours of your appointment they charge the full amount. Wow! I had no sleep since I worked all night, but you better believe I made myself go and make my appointment in the morning! The prices tend to be more reasonable in the morning. Perhaps because the 'A' team need to sleep off their hangovers? No idea why. However, my stylist was very sweet and personable. She made the haircut fun and I absolutely despise haircuts! My stylist shampood my hair and listened to how I wanted the actual cut. She took the time and inquired if I wanted to go shorter or not. I did. She then styled it a bit, but I wouldn't consider blow drying and a bit of product an actual blowout. Perhaps I don't know better? The other issue I had was that a few of my bangs weren't cut like the rest. I easily took care of that when I got home, but it was still annoying. My sides were also a bit uneven, but that's probably because of me. I have been cutting my own bangs at home a bit too short, ha ha. I may or may not return. I went for a massage at the OakBrook location with my mom and was extremely disappointed!!! We purposely arrived one hour early to go to the steam room. when we arrived we were told they no longer have a steam room which is No where on the website!!!! I tried to keep a smile on my face for my mom to still enjoy the massage/experience. We went to wait in the wait lounge and decided to drink a hot tea and the water was not even warm!!!! It appeared they had the air conditioner on although it was snowy outside which made the massage room cold!!! On top of that, they have increased the price of a 50 minute massage but the experience is not worth the price increase!!! Scheduled an early morning massage to release all my muscle knots. Checked in with the friendly and welcoming concierge and headed to the 2nd floor to the spa. A very soothing and calming environment filled with soft instrumental music that would be fitting for a zen-like meditation. In the gentleman's locker room everything was neat and organized and their lockers had simple instructions to keep your valuables and clothes safe. After changing into a robe I headed to the spa waiting area. I was quickly greeted by my massage therapist who was very punctual. Upon seeing me though it seemed as if he was disappointed or annoyed. We shared greetings and his tone agreed with the expression. It was almost palpable. He lead me to the room where we would work. Technique and pressure were well and adequate to remove the majority of my knots. Little to no conversation during the session kept me occupied with my own thoughts and comforting music. Although I specifically asked Sadia to avoid red in my lowlights she colored them a rust red. I went back for a redo but the next girl refused to do anything but throw in a few highlights. The third time I went back the colorist put a darker color over my red so now I have dark rust all over and no highlights. Since I'm a natural blond I look hideous. I've been going to Tricosi's for 20 years but I won't return. read more
