Came here with a few friends and we all loved it! The drinks were great - I got the founders oatmeal stout and loved it! Tasted like an oatmeal cookie :) we also participated in their 8$ whiskey shot + beer in a can deal - too good!! Place has a sweet ambience with a great crowd. Our personal favorite touch is that they had the tv set to channel 76 - live coverage of nyc traffic. What more can you want in life? The bar itself is a cool space, not too packed so it was comfortable. Plenty of seating and additional seating in the back. The crowd here was also pretty chill and the music wasn't terrible. I was here on a Friday night around midnight and it was mostly a mature work crowd. The noise level was average for a bar. You could definitely still have a conversation without yelling. I would have given the place four stars if my drink order was correct. I ordered a Stella. I love Stella and I know exactly what it tastes like. What I got was way too hoppy to be Stella. Not hoppy enough to be an IPA and was still relatively light in terms of color. My friend returned to the bar to double check that he got the right glass. The bartender assured him it was Stella. I let everyone taste my drink and they also agreed it did not taste like Stella so I knew I wasn't going insane. Perhaps they need to clean out their taps or something. Whatever, it's beer.... I drank it anyway. After that drink we hit the road. Drinks are pretty cheap here so I would be inclined to come back if I am in the area but would choose a different beer (bottled preferably) to play it safe. Went here on a Friday night around 10 and we got seats at the bar! They have $5 cans and $3 shots. They also have $3 for 2 poptarts, which is what got me to come back to this bar after a random drunken night months ago. Came out to One Star to celebrate a Five Star Career. From the front, it's easy to assume that it's just a narrow bar, but the backroom has about 4-5 4 top tables and a few booths. 2 Big screen TVs in the back to watch the game or, or a live traffic cam of NYC (which happened to be on when we were there). 5 stars for this witty dive bar and it's inviting atmosphere. When you first walk in, there's little seating nooks an a table right by the front windows. Narrow and lined with a super long bar, keeps things intimate and leads you into the back with a bigger room accommodating for larger groups. The bevie selection was comical and witty, much like the rest of the spread - making ordering drinks a silly and entertaining task in itself, like the IPA Baby Daddy. The staff was helpful and kind, but honestly - the highlight of my visit here personally was the bartender Joe's awesome playlist. Song after song, he did not disappoint - so much so I had to ask about it and was super glad I did! We had so much fun playing trivia here on Saturday night. Because of the name, we expected this place to be a dirty dive bar, but it was actually shockingly nice, clean, and pleasant to hang out in (and I'm kind of bougie, so that says a lot). The trivia was totally a blast. We sat at the bar near the hosts, and it was great to joke around with them between rounds. Many of the teams are veterans, but we still had a great time as n00bs, so don't be intimidated! read more

My boyfriend and I came here the weekend before Valentine's Day for a night out. This place was unimpressive. This is more of a bar for a Girl's/Guy's Night Out or if you're looking to get lucky that night. You could feel the awkward tension in the bar. The bartender didn't even make a good drink -- I got a rum & Redbull and neither of us could taste the rum in it. It tasted like she just poured out a Redbull and just said it had rum in it. While the drinks are cheap (a tall boy & shot was $8), the mixed drinks (I'm not a beer person) were weak -- worse than weak. Just an awkward vibe all around. We left within an hour. read more

Great specials and they have the nice Tecate tall boys. They have pop tarts for snacks but unfortunately no food. They open like at 4 so good afternoon- night spot and it's across from Barcade so it works well doing Barcade during the day and then heading there for afternoon drinks. read more

Me and my friends frequent One Star pretty often. It's a no thrills bar with great staff, great music, and great drinks. Pretty chill young crowd for the most part. They have specials like a 16oz beer with shot of whiskey for $8. Doesn't get better than that. Jukebox where you can select what tunes you wanna play. No food, but they do have cheese its and pop tarts if you want a snack. They let you bring in food or get it delivered as well. We've even had Taco Bell delivered on late nights. Adriana and Joe are the best bartenders there. No waiting for drinks and they are quick to change the channel to the game you wanna watch. The service was mixed. I felt like some of the bartenders were good and the others were all over the place. The drinks were decent priced - $9 for a large drink. The bar itself is really nice. I was there with a large group last night and we all flooded towards the back, overcrowding the place a bit, but the front was totally clear. When everyone left by 1:30am, there was literally no one else there. So this place enters the dead zone rather quickly. One star is sorta hard to describe. It's a very simple bar, but there's a unique low key atmosphere to this place that I really like, at least on weeknights--can't really speak to what it's like on weekends. Such a good, solid bar! As everyone has been posting, the prices here are fantastic considering it's in Chelsea - $6 for craft beers, $5 tall boys, and $8 beer-shot deals. Consider its dive bar prices, One Star's being spacious and clean is a pleasant surprise. They have number of TV's for watching sports and plenty of seating both at the bar and at tables in the back. Next time I'm back in the area, definitely going here for my late night drink. read more

I went here on a Thursday night to meet up with a friend for a drink. Neither of us were terribly familiar with the neighborhood, but she was at a party nearby so we decided to try One Star and were not disappointed. I walked in and found a couple of seats at the bar with no problem. There was a moderate crowd and good music. Prices were pretty great - $10 for a Bulleit rocks- and the service was pleasant and present. We had a great time and I will definitely be coming back for a second round! read more

Very solid place in Midtown. Obviously Midtown does not lack for average-y bars, but what added on an additional star was their sense of humor. It's always appealing when a place can poke fun at themselves. It's evident in their name, the fact that they sell pop-tarts and their fake cocktail menu posted in the ladies room. Their pints are reasonably priced for the area with a good selection. Came here after work last night and they had Chopped on one of the TVs above the bar. It does get pretty noisy during primetime, but that's pretty much par for the course. No card minimum either! Bonus! read more
