So much to love here. Adriana the bartender is the best. Drinks are strong. Music is great. Eclectic a bit but if you're in this place already- you know you like like offbeat tunes. We heard the gogos and Tool. So a wide range of good stuff. Cheeze-its were served. And strawberry pop tarts. My ONLY issue (and I feel strongly about this) is that HOT POCKETS would be an amazing addition to the menu. 3 items are better than 2 and who doesn't love hot pockets- right? Wow what a cool and no-frills place! Stumbled upon this bar based on Yelp reviews of bars in the area and wanted to give it a try. This is a no-frills cool bar with affordable drinks and a great atmosphere! I like the seating area in the front as well (although more comfy couches/seats would be helpful rather than ottomans). Came here around 5:30 on a Wednesday for a quick drink with a friend. Atmosphere was nice and relaxed. The bartender was very friendly and attentive. Perfect low-key, hole-in-the-wall with a great staff, great prices, and a wonderful dose of irony pouring from its name. Goose Island for $6 at all times. $8 specials (beer + shot of whiskey) at all times. Pop Tarts for sale! Trivia Night on Saturday is the toughest shit in the world. Bartenders Adrianna and Joe were handpicked by the gods. Plenty of seating in the back area for squad. You can bring your own food which is nice when you consider all the food options (Chipotle) in the area. My go-to spot. read more

I've been here twice within the last couple of months, and One Star lives up to it's name, with very few frills, low prices and a low-key environment. This isn't the bar you go to party (although the low prices can certainly get you going in that direction). This is the kind of place where you go with a friend just to grab a beer and catch up, and it does that perfectly. Had a great experience here at the one star bar. I am a New Jerseyian and love finding little hotspots in the city like this one. Me and a few friends made a trip to Chelsea in the city and this particular bar was just up our alley. We were in the area and found this location pretty appealing.The owner was very welcoming and friendly.I will definitely be making another visit very soon. read more

Literally one of the best bars in the city, and so conveniently next to my job. Name night is awesome ( which if your name is on the board that night you get 1$ beers all night SWEET) you will fall in love with the staff and will definitely always want to come back. Came here on a Friday night with my close friend and her boyfriend (i was the third wheel ) the drinks were cheap and good and our bartender was attentive and sweet. She had great recommendations since it was our first time there. Nice neighborhood bar where there are few such options. - DRINKS: all the standard booze and good beer selection. Prices are reasonable - FOOD: it has snacks for sale at the bar. A bag of pretzle to fill up on or the Urban MRE - a box with a variety of snacks like olives and hummus. Actually, surprisingly satisfying. You can also brinng your own food or get delivery. For the sake of the rest of us who are there drinkin' and snackin' please avoid smelly, messy fair. - SERVICE: great bartenders. They seem to know its a bar. Its where you go to drink. At least that's why I go. - VENUE: somewhat austere asthetic but curiouslty alluring once stationed at the enormously long bar. Music is personal and adds a certain flair. By far my favorite bar in Chelsea. No Happy hour, but they buy back. Easy way to get inebriated for under $20. The Joes are great!

Stumbled upon this place during college basketball/ football playoffs after being turned away from other over crowded bars. We had the entire place to ourselves including a great back room with 2 big tvs. They even put the volume on and music down for us! Awesome place-would highly recommend!! One star may be too tough, but two stars is probably more than this place deserves. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but a successful dive bar is predicated on a drink list that people desire at prices that make them pass up nicer spots. The tap list here is fair, and prices are reasonable, but unless you live in the neighborhood, this place is not worth seeking out. Dark setting, no decor, an old bartender in gym shorts, and a back room more fitting in a 90's video arcade, but all with a fair tap list and mediocre music, make for a confusing and ultimately unpleasant experience. Next time, I'll find a bar that has a bit more of an identity, even if that is "dive bar". read more

Ugh, this place. I'm begrudgingly adding it to my bar rotation. It's whatever for the neighborhood. There's nothing all that good around this area for drinking so One Star is alright because it's not other crappier places. The vodka tonic I got was huge and cost money. It wasn't free, which would've made it better, but it was a drink and I paid for it with a credit card, so that's a thing. No minimum. People were eating pizza nearby and you can order food from other places. Guys next to me seemed disappointed with the in-house pretzel whatevers even though they could have ordered literally anything on the planet to be delivered to them there and they ignored that fact. Maybe they didn't know. Now you know. Don't be like those guys. Rating it five stars because eh who cares. Bye. read more

this place is really a 3.5. it's a bar and it does what bars do. it has a moderate selection of good beers at pretty good prices. it doesn't stand out as being anything awesome but you know what you're going to get....a dark room with a stool. it's very clean and not a sleazy dive. just a nice bar with nice staff to go meet up with a couple buddies without any thrills. read more
