A group of 6 went here for Cinco De Mayo. Place was packed. Our server was not at all friendly. Granted very busy day but still we felt very disconnected by him. Took half orders. We had to ask other servers for silverware, chips, and asked them to send our server by us several times. He was very occupied at the bar. Drinks were decent but $15 in plastic and not even filled to the top. Chips and salsa was delicious. Great taco salad. The last two girls waited over an hour or more for 1 taco and taco salad. The special was $3 for ala carte tacos so I ordered two vegetarian flour tacos They came out with street taco sized tortillas. I had asked for quac, cheese, pico and lettuce. The bill comes and I was charged an additional $1.50 per each taco for quac (1 tsp max) and 50 cents per taco for pico. What? I had no meat and these were very small tacos. My $3 tacos were $5 each. I was told that avocados are expensive but $1.50 per taco is more than excessive. Pico costing extra too? I tried discussing with server who stood firm in his logic. We both also ordered margaritas and extra sauces for our chips and meal. The chips and salsa were fresh, and they will replenish when you need more. He's tried the chimichanga and the chile relleno taco dinner - he wasn't pleased with either and both left him feeling sick. I've had the shrimp taco dinner and the enchiladas verdes - definitely preferred the enchiladas but I thought they were both good. So the place - the vibe is very cool, but it's clear they are under staffed. The staff is doing the best they can and they do provide good service, but the place is a mess and it's hard to find a clean table anywhere. They are obviously doing something right though - the place was packed when we were there last. Have been wanting to try this place for a while and finally got around to it. First things first - while I cannot drink currently, they have a wide selection of tequilas (as they should with it being in the name haha!) and lots of other mixed drinks you could order. I ordered the enchiladas verdes with chicken which were super tasty and filling! My husband got the carne asada and it was truly some of the most tender and juicy asada that I've had. I'd come back just for this! Our friend got the enchiladas de mole with a different meat in each (chicken, steak, pork) and said the al pastor (pork) was the best one. He also said that the mole was a really great mole. The place itself is spacious and there's a bar when you first walk in and seating off to the left of the restaurant. It also appears they have slot machines to the right of the restaurant. My only true dislike of the meal was the tres leches cake which was nowhere what a tres leches should be. It truly either was lacking all the milk or they gave us a slice that had been sitting in the fridge for days and had dried up. Presentation was beautiful but it was not a tres leches slice. My husband and his friend thought it was okay for just a regular cake slice and ate most of it. I like my tres leches soggy so didn't really touch it after a couple bites. This was my 8th time having food from this establishment. I have carried out a few times, had my food delivered a few times and have also dined in on several occasions. I chose to dine in with several of my friends on this night. The place is a nice establishment, nice atmosphere, but out of the 8 times I had food from here only ONE time has my order been correct. No matter how many times you repeat exactly what you want and it is even repeated back to you, the communication between the wait staff and the kitchen is something to be desired. I am a CKD patient and have many dietary restrictions which the waiter was well aware of. When my food came out, it had veggies in it that I am not allowed to have and these veggies are not even listed on the menu to be part of this selection. Highly disappointed that when your food comes out you have to be picking through it to remove everything that you are not allowed to have, not to mention wasteful. My dish contained more of what I am not allowed than what I was able to eat. The waiter came over and saw me picking through my dish removing the broccoli, carrots, and cauliflower, again no mention of these veggies on the menu with this particular dish and apologized for the mistake and told me he would take care of me. He explained to me that they were busy, which is not a valid excuse when you are paying the prices of things nowadays. When the check was brought to our table I saw that a mere 3 or 4 dollars was subtracted off of my bill for an error on your part . When I complained about my order being wrong several of the other times I received what I did not order I was told by the waitstaff the next time I came in I would be taken care of and they didn't even bother to ask for my name or any other information, so I never even took advantage of that as I am sure there would have been issues so I just let all of those other times go. After 8 times with incorrect orders, this place will be taken off of my list and I will not come here anymore or recommend this place to anyone else. There are many other Mexican restaurants in Palatine that I have been to that don't mess up orders, so I will frequent them instead. Hardly any filling and the grease taste was terrible. 2 burrito dinners and one taco dinner. Inedible. Burrito had about no filling, the taste of oil is still on my tongue and choked down less than 1/2 of one - the rest? Into the dumper. My poor wife tried to the taco but gave up. Our first time here... so delicious! I can highly recommend everything we tried: queso fundito w/chorizo, enchiladas w/molé and steak fajitas, as well as the traditional and spicy margaritas. The quality ribeye definitely put the fajitas a notch above average. The mole was probably the best I've had in years... smoky, spicy, not overly sweet. Even the lowly beans and rice deserve a mention for being so flavorful. Although they were quite busy, the service was friendly, efficient and didn't feel rushed. We loved the lively soundtrack too. When I write a review it's based on service, food quality, cleanliness, pricing, and staff demeanor. My daughter and I came in for the first time. It looked very clean and newer. upon reading the menu I was initially turned off at the fact that they don't offer combination platters and certain Mexican dishes that are the norm at other Mexican venues. The prices stood out as high. Being that we're in post Covid times I understood but also expected portions to match those higher prices. My daughter ordered enchilada Suiza's ($16.00). They came out in a timely manner. I was told that mine will be right up. Her portions looked average and seemed to be good in taste. I ordered the Carne Asada burrito dinner ($17.00). I had to wait an extra six minutes for mine for some reason. It arrived and it was tiny. I mean small. The steak was gray, chewy, bland and cold. For $17 I expect a large portioned burrito such as Tacos El Norte in Lake Zurich. Which about $4 less in price and more portions served with the rice and beans. We also ordered two bottles of Mexican Coke. The 12 oz size. $4.00 each! Come on! All in all our bill was $45 and change. The service was not bad (aside from my extra wait) and the waiter was friendly. But, one shouldn't have to wait six minutes longer for a meal than the person you're with. Unfortunately I don't think we'll be coming back anytime soon. I know this is a newer establishment and I hope they find their way to improve. read more

When I rate restaurants, I base them off many factors. Service, food quality, atmosphere, and pricing. The service left much to be desired. Upon receiving the typical chips and salsa from one of the staff, our party requested an order of guacamole. We were met by a rude response of "you'll have to ask your server when he gets to you". The food was of high quality, and was actually quite delicious, though one of our 4 meals was not hot coming out of the kitchen, meals did not come out together, and one of the orders, which was ordered very specifically, was not correct. This would be expected at an establishment that was busy, but we were one of 4 seated tables with no other customers in sight. Strike 2. Atmosphere was.... Interesting to say the very least. The wall we were seated against had faux grass, with a large neon-like (probably LED) sign, which if seated facing the wall, will likely provide you with quite a headache, as it did me. It was incredibly bright, and really took away from the aesthetic of a Mexican restaurant. The music was also quite loud and the only thing that made it bearable was the fact that they have a TouchTunes jukebox that could be controlled. No strike, but also not impressed. Pricing was on point for a restaurant that's not getting much business. Otherwise, it was quite high. Over $150 for 4 adult meals, 2 beers, and a margarita. Yikes. Strike 3. Oh! Almost forgot. We tried to eat here on New Year's Eve, we arrived at 5:45pm and were turned away as they were closing at 7:00pm. The restaurant was about as busy as it was tonight.... Not busy at all. read more
