Hmm.....this place sucks. Ok, maybe its okay if you're into college kid vegan food. You know..nacho's, chilli, beer, quesadillas, and free wi-fi. A serious vegan will avoid this spot. The menu is weak, and the service, abysmal. Something disturbs me about wait staff that don't know not to stick their thumbs in the plate as they set it on the table. Or are so obviously uninterested in what the restaurant is serving that they can't tell you what's in the food. They won't be seeing my dollars again. For vegan food this really was a great place. The Philly cheesesteak is wonderful and so are their nachos. Huge portions though so one nachos and one sandwich is enough for two. Awesome choice for any vegetarians or vegans in the area. I go here pretty regularly for their weekend brunch or a late night drink and snack. For breakfast, I usually go for their tofu scramble or the vegan pancakes. They also have a new homemade veggie burger each day that's usually pretty good. I cant say enough good things about One World.. As a vegetarian in Baltimore this restaurant was an excellent find. First of all, they have more vegan and vegetarian options then any other restaurant I have ever been too. Things I have tried - vegan nachos, hot dog, quesadillas and burgers - all are great but by far the best thing on the menu is the Vegetarian Philly Cheese Steak. OMG SO GOOD. It had been 9 years since I last had a "real Philly cheese steak" so discover that One World has a vegan version was a real treat! It didn't quite taste like real meat, but it was still hella good. Breakfast is also very tasty! and it is served all day. Also be sure not to skip desert. They have two desert menus available upon request. One vegan, one not. I am not vegan, but honestly I love ordering off the vegan menu because their vegan cakes and pastries are that good! And to top it off, service is quick and they staff is always friendly. And the price is right. Dinner for two will prob be around 15 - 20 dollars all together. The only con I can think of is the parking. Sometimes you have to go around the block a few times to find a spot, but its soo worth it. read more

The food is good, but please do yourself a favor and wear a blindfold. The place itself is a bit crummy for lack of better words, and is not clean how ever you want to look at it. Our waiter was very attentive to our needs, and engaged in a conversation of ours as well. But the vegan food is excellent. This is, without a doubt, my favorite cafe ever. I go here whenever I can and it never disappoints. The drinks are always perfectly sweet, the food is wholesome and delicious. Whether you're causally getting a cup of coffee or dining in for the night, this is the perfect place for you. Not to mention that everything is vegetarian and there are plenty of vegan options. There aren't a lot of food joints that include these dietary options, and I would like to say that it is much appreciated when a restaurant does go vegetarian/vegan and provides delicious food regardless! Terrible service. I went here for a celebration with some friends, and the waitress mocked and insulted us for asking what IPA was on draft. There was also a guest there antagonizing people eating and the staff didn't do anything about it. read more

Service always adequate. Prices OK. Food often bland. Parking is the worst I've seen anywhere. Do yourself a favor and park a few blocks away and take a stroll--one of the more frustrating parking challenges I've experienced. I'll still hit this place occasionally for breakfast. read more

I moved down the block from here about 2 months ago and I'll be darned if this place didn't warm its way into my heart. The staff is pretty friendly and fine with you buying an ice coffee and spending 3 hours in there, using their free wireless. More importantly, the Tempeh Reuben has become one of my favorite sandwiches of the moment. I don't know how they did it, but that thing is real good. Check it out. read more

One World Cafe has tons of vegetarian options, most of which are substituting tofu or tempeh or seitan, etc. for meat. The service is friendly, the alcohol is fine. But the food is horrible. To be clear, I'm not vegetarian, but I eat vegetarian food half the time - my girlfriend is vegetarian. These meals are poor excuses for vegetarian cooking in a city that doesn't have many other vegetarian options. It's not so much that the lack of meat is detracting from the flavor - it's that the cooks apparently don't know how to produce any flavor out of what they have. Ignoring the meat replacement - I would think that it would be pretty easy to make a competent veggie chili without it - but One World has no clue how to make chili. I can go to Hard Times Cafe and get a vegetarian chili that's a billion times better - and I don't even particularly like their chili. The jambalaya was completely tasteless and the veggies were all cooked limp. The veggie Philly Cheesesteak needed to be soaked with hot sauce to make it edible or have any taste. The carrot cake muffins were dry with a terrible offtaste. The restaurant staff really needs to learn to cook, and maybe learn to make some good uniquely vegetarian food as opposed to revolting imitations of meat foods. I realize the place probably has a lot of options for vegans that otherwise are hard to find - but why in the world do they have to be so bad? read more

The tofu breakfast burrito is great, the salsa is not very hot so ask for some cholula hot sauce to spice it up. The service was attentive and professional. I believe that what others mistake for 'watered' down coffee is in fact freshly (or more freshly) roasted and not burned al la Starbucks, so the coffee was good by my count. The decor is as one would expect for a place that is open from 8AM-2AM and has a full bar, eclectic and specific to the owner/staff. If you don't like punkish music then it might annoy you while you eat your good food but other than that one should have a good time. read more

This restaurant was next door hotel where I was staying, and I'm vegetarian, so it was great! Ate dinner there two nights in a row. First night, tried the "meatball" sub upon the server's recommendation. It was tasty & delicioius with excellent meatball consistency. Tonight, I enjoyed broccoli cheese soup and nachos with veg chili. Both were delightful. Too full for dessert but the desserts looked amazing too, some vegan and some vegetarian. DELICIOUS! I got the vegan french toast special with peaches and pecans and boy was it tasty. My friend got the Heuvos Rancheros and she was pleased with both the size and the taste of her meal. After I wrote my initial review, the manager contacted me via email and apologized, thanked me for my feedback, and offered me a coupon for the future. I really appreciated this! I ended up going back a couple of weeks ago and ordered the same thing...a vegan rueben. This time, I called my order in a head of time. When I arrived, my order was ready and when I asked to check it over to make sure it was vegan, the employee who made it came out of the kitchen with a smile and said it was good to go since he made his like that all the time. Everything was perfect and it even came with chips and salsa (last time they forgot the salsa). I know there are tons of other great sounding options on the menu, but the rueben is soooo good, I don't think I could order anything else :) Great experience, glad I went back. Thanks!! read more

This is one enjoyable place. The ambience is like a neighborhood pub, with a college-hipster ambience. But you won't feel out of place, and I saw all ages there - either having dinner, coffee, or a few pints. As someone who hates 'rabbit food', many of the menu items in this vegetarian restaurant are hearty dishes. While you can very much easily mess up fake meat creations, here they don't. My 'philly cheese steak' replaced the chipped beef with seitan, and everything else was a healthy (and flavorful!) alternative to the otherwise artery-clogging sandwich. I left there pleasantly satisfied and full, but not bloated. So if you're in Baltimore and want to enjoy a nice healthy meal, or simply want to meet for drinks or coffee in a cozy setting, this is my recommendation. read more

We love this place. It has been our go-to, Friday night, we-don't-want-to-cook place over the past three years in Baltimore. We will miss it when we leave. This isn't a fancy or trendy place. It has a laid-back atmosphere with a busy dining room and good service. The food is always very fresh and flavorful and the portions are just right. There are great veggie and vegan options and, although I am a meat eater, I gladly order these dishes frequently. I can't count how many times we've been here, and never a bad experience. As non-hippie vegans, vegetarian restaurants usually leave a bad taste in our mouths. An earthy, sticks and twigs kinda taste. But One World is a whole other story. Everything I have ever had on the menu is amazing. The specials, though, are where the best food is. I've had a whole range- from vegan queso and tacos to shepherd's pie to mac and cheese. We went to a picnic the other night with our friends and their parents and one guy was a right wing NRA type and somehow One World came up and he talked about eating there before every JHU home game and raved about the food. In how ever many years he has been doing this, he never realized it was a vegetarian place. I'm kinda sorry I had to spoil it for him! I always forget they have a bar, too, but the drinks have always been well-mixed and reasonable. The service is always fast, friendly and accurate. My only complaint about the entire experience is that it always takes years to get your bill. Accept that inevitability and you will be a happy person. We're excitied about this place, and despite this low review, we'll give it another try or two. It's great when vegetarians can look at a menu and have a hundred choices. The food varied in quality. My vegetarian cheesesteak was pretty good. It wasn't the overstuffed, over-cheesed, monsters that I remember as a meat eater, but I appreciated the memories I got from eating this, a rather convincing knock-off of the real thing. The Old Bay fries were disappointing. I know that most places use frozen fries of some sort, but these tasted like ones I bake in the oven. My coke was off-tasting and flat. The service was below average. While the server was friendly, she was the only server in the restaurant part, and there were 9 tables. After the food was brought, she never came back, until I flagged her down for the check. After I gave her my credit card, I watched her take 3 more orders, seat another group, and deliver 2 tables of food before I got my credit card back (with no apology for the long wait). read more

Been here and always had breakfast which is big and good. Today we had lunch. I usually look for a good salad now so my wife and I ordered the big house salad with feta cheese and it was very good.
