Rice had a good amount of veggies but wasn't fried rice, more of brown rice mixed with veggies. The pad Thai was just ok. The sushi, the sexy roll, wasn't good. I have been here a few times but only dined in once. There is parking all around so unless it's busy in the area, parking should be good. I was seated quickly. Our server was new but extremely friendly. She was accommodating for the food questions. I have had two dishes so far, pud see-ew and pud gra pow with chicken. Both were really good. My only issues was with the noodles there were more veggies than noodles. The flavor was good however. I will be back to try other things as well as the sushi since I haven't tried it. I used to really enjoy the cuisine here but I feel like the quality and authenticity has significantly declined. I ordered green curry this evening with white rice and my curry wasn't even green - it was mostly just white-ish leading me to believe it was mostly just coconut milk. They used giant chunks of eggplant that weren't even fully cooked all the way through - not Thai eggplant which is what the recipe calls for. The tofu in the dish was also not properly cooked and was just thrown into the liquid. Unfortunately I've had a couple different experiences like this recently with One19. I think they can improve by bringing back the authentic flavors and recipes of the dishes on the menu and not cutting corners. I completely understand times are challenging for the food industry but at the same time, if I'm ordering and paying for a meal - I'd love for it to at minimum be fully cooked properly. read more

Been to this spot on several occasions and unfortunately like many places, it start out good... during the last visit, was one of the first in the restaurant, however this last visit ....it does not make me not want to run back for more... not sure if it was a bad day? As a rule we all share what was ordered and at some point in the meal we rank the rolls. We had 6 Rolls, and all were the favorites! Butterfly, One19, Dragon, Pacific, North Main, and Downtown. Also had the escarole sashimi. On a scale of 1-10 a solid 12! The only negatives was the room temp was a bit chilly. This is a super easy recommendation. What a great addition to Mt. Holly. Went in for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. I need to come back for dinner to try some of their speciality rolls! They have a lunch special - two rolls and a spring roll. So it's a set menu, but there's a decent amount of "lunch sushi" (you know the simple/staple rolls). I went with the spicy tuna and crunchy roll. Both rolls were tasty, but I think I liked the crunchy better. That being the spicy tuna had the dollop of Sriracha on top, and I prefer when it's blended in with the tuna and has the spicy Mayo on top. The crunchy roll had a lot of the crunchies in it, but again, I feel like it's expected for the lunch scene. My server was super sweet and attentive (and was also doing hostess roles) and the restaurant itself was clean and I liked the bar/sushi bar area. They also have non-sushi items, and they looked good as well. I liked how they had different spice levels too. I hope this restaurant does well, and I definitely want to come back and try other rolls! read more

Wow, we need more great food in Mt. Holly and they delivered! Service is great and friendly. Highlights: Orange chicken but make it spicy, super delicious and not overly sweet. Pad Thai is "wet" (this is a good thing) and the tofu in it was crispy. The Lao sausage is not to be missed and the spring rolls were piping hot and crispy. Oh my... where do I begin? First and foremost, our food took nearly an hour and a half to arrive. I'm quick to assume it's the driver, but in this case it was the restaurant, it took them well over an hour to make fried rice and hibachi. The food was very expensive and just utterly disappointing. The steak and shrimp hibachi is like nothing I've ever seen before, it is a tiny portion swimming in liquid with no seasoning, and they didn't send rice for it. $28 for one small container is INSANE. The pineapple fried rice is a bigger portion, but it's so spicy it's almost inedible, and we are spicy food people! I can't fathom how they have any good reviews. read more

The food is grade A. That's the only reason I keep coming back. There customer service could greatly be improved. I would suggest actually listening to the customer when they have a concern instead trying to be right. I was trying to tell this lady at the register that they had my order wrong and I was missing an item. Instead of taking that in, she tried to convince me that both items are in one box when it clearly was not. It made me feel like, she thought I was incompetent or trying to get over on them. I had to show her the receipt multiple times before she tried to rectify the situation. I spend too much money there for that kind of service. Outside of your food, do better. read more

Such a wonderful addition to downtown Mount Holly! The restaurant looks small and unassuming, but it is spacious and the food and drinks are delicious! We love dining and getting takeout here. They have the best sushi in the area in my opinion! Their menu is extensive with lots of Thai and sushi options to choose from. They also have great cocktails and do half off house bottles of wine on Wednesdays! I always order sushi and my favorite rolls are the sexy girl roll, the cherry blossom roll and the lotus roll. I don't have a lot of experience with Thai cuisine, so perhaps I'm not the best person to judge it, but I'll say this. Either I don't like Thai food in general, or this is not the place to get it lol. That said, their other food is good and I wish there were more non-Thai options. The miso soup is solid, the spring rolls are very good, and the sushi has always been really good as well (though the rolls are thicker than I'd prefer, one piece is a real mouthful). The pot stickers don't seem to be of the highest quality; they have those jello filler noodles in them like an eggroll from Panda Express. On our last trip we tried the Tonya's Orange Chicken, which was absolutely delicious. It had an interesting creaminess to it that I didn't expect, and the heat level was perfect. Best thing I've gotten here yet. It could stand to be a little more affordable though. It's easy for two people to get the bill up to $50-$70 dollars if you're trying different things. Last point, and I'm knocking a whole star off for this: they don't take Apple Pay. Their machines are equipped to take it, but as a matter of policy they refuse to accept it. They said this was because of some scam someone pulled with a chargeback, but I don't really know and don't really care about that. Millions of other restaurants make it work without issue. I'm sure they could figure it out if they wanted to rather than refusing to let people pay in what's inarguably the most convenient way possible. read more

So my wife and I moved to Gastonia roughly 3 years ago and haven't been able to find amazing Asian food till today! We've tried Jia and JP's House and weren't impressed. However, today my wife found this place online and we gave it a shot. To be honest we didn't expect to be so pleasantly surprised. We honestly couldn't be happier to have found such a great place. The started with the pot stickers, then I had the Pad Thai (AMAZING) and she had a couple of sushi rolls also AMAZING. We are so happy that we don't have to drive to Charlotte for sushi or Pad Thai anymore. We used to drive to Basil Thai uptown (parking sucks) . This place was just as good or better. The food is great! I've eaten here many times, for takeout and dine-in. I've never had a dish I didn't like! Also, most dishes allow you to have veggies or tofu instead of meat, which is a huge plus! It's a great vegan/vegetarian option in a town with VERY few choices. However, you're better off getting takeout because the service is slow in the restaurant and the cocktails are just OK. Great Thai/Laotian food with lots of vegetarian options. We have been there 4 times since they opened 6 weeks ago. We tried a few of their noodle dishes: Pud Woon Sen and Pud Kee Maow are both good. Not a fan of their version of the Pud Thai. I also tried the papaya salad (Som Thum on their menu). Burnt by super spicy papaya salads served in other Thai places before, I chose spicy level 1 when asked. It turned out to be not spicy at all. Next time I will get level 2 instead since that little kick really brings out the flavor. Service has been good even though servers are not really knowledgeable about Thai food. read more
