Sesame Chicken
Alisha R.

Overall not bad! I called to place a pick up order and I was told 5-10 minutes so I'm assuming the food is not made fresh to order. My expectations were low because of this. When we went in to pick it up, the staff were very friendly. It was extremely hot inside though and I would have hated to dine in but of course being it was to go, no problem. Overall everything was pretty decent. The kids lo mein was good and my son finished his plate. The broccoli was good but drenched in way too much sauce. The sesame chicken was drenched in way too much sauce as well and had more breading than meat, however the flavor was good. The rice was a bit bland but I added some sesame oil and it helped! The wonton soup was delicious. Again, everything was pretty decent and I can see it being a regular quick Chinese night.

The food was awesome! The service was fast and I will definitely be back! Everything tasted so fresh and homemade.

Pepper Steak - Very Good

Food is always fresh. The weekly specials, Garden Chicken & Pepper Chicken are always tasty and you can't beat the price at $5.99. Their Wings are nice and crunchy. Price is affordable. I always get the sauces on the side such as Honey Wing & Garlic Sauce. The pepper steak is another good one. I would prefer the beef to be cut into smaller pieces but it's no big deal. We eat here at least one or twice a week. Even though we live near several similar Chinese restaurants, this one is by far our favorite. We don't mind having to drive all the way to the other side of town to pick up our order.

house special fried rice, house special lo mein, beef and garlic sauce, sesame chicken, fried chicken, and crab Rangoon.

I am so glad my neighbors in Nextdoor talked about this place. It apparently is under new ownership, though I never ate here before today, him so glad I have finally found a good Chinese restaurant on this side of town. I typically have to go all the way to university when I want Chinese, I've been desperate for one close by. The food was amazing. So flavorful and the portions were well worth it. It may actually be a bad thing that this place is so close. I ordered crab Rangoon, chicken wings, house special fried rice, house special lo mein, beef and garlic sauce, and sesame chicken. I couldn't complain about anything if I wanted too. This is a hidden gem, but I promise you will enjoy it.

First visit. Friendly staff, pretty extensive menu.

Much better than average strip mall restaurant. My wife asked that her dish was vegetarian not spicy. The cooked to her exact request. Nothing fancy, just great food quickly. We will be back and definitely getting take out.

Chicken on a stick is great. Bourbon chicken really good. I liked the sea food too. Fried rice wasn't very good. Chicken wings are good.

Hot day. Costco run complete. Charlotte traffic testing everyone's patience. That meant one thing:…read morecomfort food stop at Taipei Express. It was pushing 97 degrees outside, and after a long afternoon of computer work and errands, I finally stopped in for the crispy scallion chicken and pan-fried dumplings. Huge portions. Fair prices. Friendly people. Consistently solid food every single time. The best part today honestly might have been the air conditioning. They've got a cool, comfortable space to wait while your order is prepared, which felt amazing after baking outside all day. I forgot to take food photos because I was hungry and ready to get home, but trust me, they pack these takeout containers like a game of Jenga. Nothing spills. Nothing shifts. Everything is packed tight and thoughtfully. Only tiny downside: the dumpling sauce goes into the same container as the hot dumplings, so by the time I got home, it had softened the bottom a bit. Still, the dumpling wrappers are thick and crispy enough to survive the trip. Into the air fryer later they go. One warning: the parking lot can be chaotic since it sits right off busy Providence Road. Just be patient. Cars are constantly pulling in, backing out, blocking entrances, and today people were absolutely treating red lights like suggestions. Saw it multiple times, including a bus cutting across traffic when I had the right-of-way. Charlotte drivers... please relax a little. That said, the food made the trip worth it. Taipei Express is one of those dependable local spots that always comes through when you need a solid meal without spending a fortune. Life is too short to not eat well. It unfortunately was quite bland, big chunks, & not crispy. Fried rice/ super bland, no additions except peas. I was unable to finish the rice due to blandness even with soy sauce. It is busy enough that plenty of other people had also called in for takeout. The price was higher than I thought it would be by a significant margin; I thought something was off but then rechecking their menu I saw it was indeed $20 for a vegetable entree. On the upside, they did offer brown rice at no extra charge. Still, I'll get three meals out of it and as someone who eats a lot of takeout, this was not a great value. In terms of quality, I was thrilled to find that they offered a stir-fried okra dish. This is a ubiquitous Indian dish, and of course okra is common throughout the tropics globally, but I'd never seen this offered at a Chinese restaurant before. And the rapid cooking technique typical of the cuisine produced a delightfully crisp vegetable, which went great with a black bean sauce and some very hot dried chilis. On the other hand, their interpretation of ma po tofu had some fermented broad beans but minimal vegetables (sometimes you get mushrooms or peas or at least some leeks or something) and no numbing sensation. They had a bean curd roll dish that I enjoyed, and some quality dumplings. Overall, not huge portions and a mix of okay to great quality.

The fried rice and stir-fried okra together are amazing. Food is always good!…read more The ambiance is outdated but the service is exceptional.

It was our first visit and we wanted to try the curry. We ordered the Thai Red Curry and the Thai Green Curry. Both were perfection! The red curry had just the right amount of spice to give it flavor, but not be too spicy hot. The green was mild, but flavorful. The dumplings were so good. These were both very good and we added shrimp and chicken. I believe they would be just a satisfying with only the vegetables. This is my go to place for Asian noodle dishes from now on...can't wait to sample more of the menu on my next visit.

They genuinely did not taste like chicken at all, and I couldn't even finish them. I strongly recommend staying away from that item. I also tried to order a bubble tea without ice and was told I'd be charged an extra $2 because they would need to "add more juice." I didn't ask for extra juice, just no ice!!! And charging extra for that feels unreasonable and borderline price gouging. Ridiculous!!!! Between the poor food quality and the frustrating service, the overall experience wasn't great, and I won't be returning.
